  1. You guys are so funny. Love the blinders. Who would have thought? It will miss me. Not coming over VA. I will have about a 30% chance of obstruction according to the chart. But I do have the glasses and no horse.
  2. I forgot about the corn. But yes, that needs to be packed loosely also. Having trouble sleeping tonight. Don't know what is going on with me as I don't usually have this issue. Must just be a lot on my mind these days. I have a lot of things I want to get done and here I am still awake. I did fall asleep on couch around 11 or so watching TV. Then when I woke up to go to bed, I just laid there. Couldn't get back to sleep. Maybe will read a bit to see if that will help. At least as long as it's not a book I can't put down.
  3. Jeepers, glad you were able to get your ears cleaned out with no waiting. That is an ordeal though. The frozen veggies I can is usually in the soups and things I make to can. Have no issues with doing it that way. I do know with peas you need lots of water in the jars. Basically, having the peas floating in the water. Not packed. Same with butterbeans and potatoes, Speaking of butterbeans. The grocery stores have not had any frozen ones in a long while now. Wonder what is going on. Frozen foods have not been filled very well at the 2 main stores I go to. Didn't get to see the baby today. She is making us all wait until Saturday. I did talk to her on the phone today though. She is really tired as baby does not sleep through the night yet. And seems she is getting very spoiled. She and DH stay upholding her while she sleeps and now, she won't sleep unless she is held. She is going to regret that.
  4. After family leaves this weekend. Then next week I am going to start emptying the freezers. I want everything canned that I can possibly can. Soups, Spaghetti sauce and lots of other things as well as meat. Need to check to see how much beef stew I have left. If low, I will be canning more of that as well. I am looking to see if I can make squash soup and can it. I am overflowing with tromboncino squash. I need to do something with it. Just not sure how I want to use some of it yet. Gave some away to 3 neighbors yesterday and am still overloaded. That stuff just keeps on giving. Will be calling GD in a bit and then head over to her house. Want to see if there is anything she needs me to bring her before leaving here. I must say, it does feel good to have my freedom back. GS has been staying at his apartment but will be on streets after the 12th of November. I hate to see that happen, but he needs to learn a tough lesson. Yes, tough love is hard but a much-needed thing to have him wake up to the facts of life. I can't have him put me in the position he had me in before. I am now paying off bills from his stupidity. So, he will be having his bills going to collections before long.
  5. Been a slower day today. Though DD keeps texting me all day now. Baby pictures coming in. Will be going tomorrow to visit GD and new baby. DD and SIL will be here this weekend. Baby has both daddy and mommy features. But all changes as she gets older. She does have a full head of hair. Today paid bills and went through winter clothes. Then went through more paperwork. Cleaned some in the house as well. Miki, that is a great feeling getting house paid off. I know you are glad. I am working on paying off some bills again as GS was putting me in a bad position. Not going to happen again. He best be hunting hard for a job. Though if he doesn't hold that temper of his, he will get fired again. Not the first rodeo we have been down with him. But for me it is the last. Turning cooler here. But mostly nights and early mornings. Then in the 70's. I did turn on heat as it was getting down in the 40's here. Seems a bit early for the 40's yet. But hopefully it won't get any colder for a while.
  6. Just got pictures of the baby not long ago. Mom did ok during the delivery but was sick to her stomach the whole time. She's sore but doing ok now. Hopefully she will get some much-needed rest. Baby weighed in at 7lbs 6.7ozs. and 19 1/2 inches long. And a head full of hair.
  7. Little Josie was born at about 4:20 pm. Mom and baby are doing great. She did have the baby at home. She and her DH wants a week to themselves before anyone comes over. So, DD, SIL and I will be going to see the baby this weekend.
  8. Switching out the summer and winter clothes. It got down to 46* last night and I never turned on the heat. Yes, it was cold early this morning. Turned heat on a while ago. But have it down on 65. So, it won't come on. It's now 69 in house. So will stay that temp most of the day in the house. I am late this year getting a lot of things ready for winter, but it won't take long to get it done. Got the message this morning that GD is now in full labor. So, sitting by phone for the news. She doesn't want anyone at house or any phone calls till she gives the word as she is having this baby at home. Will be heading to GD's house later after baby is born after she and her DH have had some time alone together with the baby first. She has had false labor off and on for about 2 weeks. So now is the real deal.
  9. Becca Anne, glad you are feeling better. Hopefully you and family won't get it again. Sounds like you had a busy day in garden yesterday. I pulled up the last of my tomato plants a few days ago. Still have carrots to pull though. They should be about ready now. Going to check those tomorrow. Weather here is getting colder now. It is 56* now. But still haven't had to turn on heat. But it's coming. Tomorrow will be sunny, and up to I think 64*. So good day for working in yard. GD is more than likely going to have the baby real soon. She was in labor for 12 hours the other night. But no baby yet. DD said she lost most of the mucus plug so it is anytime now. GD from Washington State said her DH lost his grandmother and he is down for the funeral. He's in Norfolk with his brother and sister now and they are leaving in morning to head to Connecticut for the funeral. GD didn't come down with him as she was there with her MIL while she was in hospital for a while and can't afford to miss anymore work. Jeepers, hopefully, you will be able to figure out a way to put in a wood stove. Don't know how your house is set up other than open floor plan but if you have an outside wall, you might be able to run pipe up through attic and roof and not have to build a room for it. You don't need a chimney to do it that way. I was going to do that but changed my mind as most of the heat was through the door area, so I faced it towards the hall to force heat down the hall to bedrooms. It worked really well for that.
  10. Got home from Church a while ago. Will be going to neighbor's house shortly to let their dog out. Then will just rest today. Will be a busy day tomorrow. Might go to Bible study tonight. It starts at 4:00. Trying hard now to get back into doing things at church again. We have a new pastor that is really good. His wife is great. She is starting to get a lot of things going in church now. So, the chili cook off is on the 23ed. Will need to make a pot of chili for that. Just need to decide rather I want to make regular chili or white chili. Still have plenty of time to decide on that.
  11. Weather here is cloudy and starting to rain. We have some sprinkling now. So, working in yard today is out. Already a bit wet to get the flower beds done. Will work in house today. I want to finish cleaning up in sewing room and hopefully at least get the blinds and windows cleaned and then hang the curtains back up. Some days I just feel overwhelmed but it all will get done. Just wish I was able to get it all done much faster. But it is what it is. I want to plan out a better garden area as where mine larger garden is, is now covered over from the trees behind the shed. It was too much shade this past summer and will more than likely be even shadier. I need to remove my 2 clothesline poles and put them somewhere else but would need help getting them out of the ground. Cemented in, so will be hard to dig out. That area would make a great garden area. Might just leave them and maybe put all raised bed garden boxes across that part of the yard. All sun and would work much better and be a much larger area to work with. I have plans for the flower beds if I can do it. I want to remove the brick border across the front yard and just let the grass grow there and not have front yard flower beds. At my age it would be easier to just cut grass than keep weeding out the beds. They have totally gotten away from me this year. I learned the hard way that when my knee went out and doctor would not send me to orthopedic that I just can't do what I used to. Knee has not healed but I am not limping like I was before but very hard to get up and down off my knees now. So new plans in the making.
  12. Jeepers, do you have a fireplace in your new home? If so maybe, you could down the line have an insert put in. I like the shredded paper better as well. But right now, I just want to spend time getting house together again than sitting here shredding paper. I need to bring my shredder back into house. It has been in garage now for 2 years. I have the perfect place by my desk for it now. So, then I can shred paper and junk mail for wood stove as I get it. That would be much easier than having to sit down with a couple of big boxes of paper to shred. I think my DD is caving to SIL's request to change out their fireplace for a wood stove. They have a gas insert that will all have to be changed out, but it can be done. She said that she doesn't think the people she bought the house from ever used it. So, she will need to get an inspection first. She doesn't have generator back up that will run the furnance so she needs to do something in case they lose power in winter.
  13. Miki, I need to get active in church again. Seems in 2020 when they closed the churches down, ours remained closed for a while after most churches reopened. I had missed a lot of church during the time DH was sick as he couldn't go to the sit in parking lot services. And I couldn't leave him by himself to go. Then everything after his passing happened and I just had a hard time getting back. Now I am going back but so much has changed with this pastor. He is good but so many new things now they are doing, and I feel like I am starting over in a new church. But I already know everyone there. Going to try to help with the Halloween stuff this year. We always have a big thing going on with that to draw all the new kids in. I need to buy candy soon also for that. Still thinking about getting active in the food ministry again. Though now they do things different, and I can't go up and down those steep steps anymore. But I am sure there is plenty to do. We are getting ready to collect food for Thanksgiving and Christmas now. GS left to go home just after 2pm today because again I told him he's not laying on couch all day to go outside and weed the flower beds. He refused so no dinner tonight. He can cook at home. But he won't. Stove doesn't work and he still won't call Maintenace to fix it. That's on him. He gets his last paycheck today from his last job so I am sure he will just eat out instead of paying his bills this month with it. Been working on my sewing room today. Table is about cleaned off and things getting put away where they belong. Still not sure on how to fully organize things but I will get there. I'm not the best organizer but at least I know where everything is. Seems when it comes to sewing, crafts and office supplies I have way too much stuff. But I do use it. I have a lot of old tax papers and things to go through and that will not be a fun project. But it is a necessary one. Instead of shredding papers I will just put them in a box for fire starter this year.
  14. Euphrasyne, my cart has wheel locks on it. Look for one with the wheel locks. Glad River loved that flower. And glad your teen loved the material. I really enjoyed our visit. I am sure your teen will come up with all kinds of things to make. Wish I had half of her talent. From the pictures I have seen of things she made and what you had said, she has a natural talent. I think that is great. GS sent me a text he is on the way here. Never ask if he can come over. Just text he's on the way. So there goes my day. But I am going to be working in office/sewing room today and force his butt outside to work in flower beds or no dinner tonight. Wish the Coast Guard would hurry up and call him in, but it could take up to a month or two for that to happen. I have a closet in foyer full of craft things that I need to go through as soon as I finish cleaning off table and things in sewing room. My shelving unit is mostly full of sewing material and other things I need to organize better as the bottom two shelves I want for craft things.
  15. Didn't do a lot in house today. Spent some time with Euphrasyne and River. Yes, she is cuter than her pictures. I think River liked the material so Euphrasyne and her older daughter will be busy with sewing. Very enjoyable morning. Hoping we can get together again sometime. Went to Walmart this afternoon and made GS go with me. He is very moody these past couple of days. No coffee pots worth bringing out of that store. Mine died yesterday. So found the same one I have now on Amazon. Was hoping to find it at Walmart cheaper. That one lasted me well over 14 years and it gets used daily. So, hoping this one will last as long. Was hoping to find a single top sheet since the one for my white sheet set went with DH in the ambulance. Seems they don't sell them that way anymore. But I think Roses sells them Singley so will try there next time I am in Churchland. But I did get the curtain rods for bathroom. So not a total loss. Miki I hope you can get your laptop going again. They are getting expensive. I need to buy a new laptop and printer. I am now using the small one. And it is not good for a lot of things. Not enough room for things I want to do.
  16. Welcome to the form MaryAlice. I have not heard of Molino bran flakes, but I do have some old cookbooks. Will look to see what I can find as soon as I get the time.
  17. AMEN to that Mt. Rider. This man should never have been allowed in that building without the proper permit as a journalist. I don't believe he was a journalist at all. And since he was connected to January 6th. That's just proof right there he was up to no good. Resurrectionist with lots of followers? Maybe. But he was/is up to no good.
  18. Miki, I hope Oreo is ok. But it sounds like something is wrong. Hope the vet can figure it out and get him straight. Hope he didn't Hurt your DH. Dog bites and such can be nasty. Hopefully he hasn't injured himself to bad. GS showed up for breakfast around 10:30 this morning. This is going to get old fast. I understand he has no money for food and though he has a freezer full of food he refuses to call Maintenace to fix the stove or oven. So, he can't cook anything. But that's on him and he does have a microwave. I sent orange juice and apples and cookies home with him tonight. He left at 7:30. I told him there was more flower beds to be weeded out and he said he was tired and wouldn't help with anything. So, no dinner. Yep, I refused to cook. So, he went home with what I gave him. Hope he enjoys the apples and orange juice. As well as the cookies. Told him not to come over tomorrow morning. So will see what happens. Euphrasyne is coming over in morning and I don't want GS here not knowing how his altitude will be. So, he best not show up. I don't think he will though. I hope Euphrosyne and her daughter can use the material. I am sure they will come up with something really pretty to make with it. Didn't get as much done on house today as I hoped but It's also a lot of time-consuming stuff that slows me down also. Filling up trash bags now to go to Goodwill as I have run out of boxes. Need to catch the stores on stock day.
  19. Jeepers, I have heard about news of things happening in Ohio so can't blame you for wanting to leave that state. I think Indy would be much quieter and safer as well. Not to say there isn't any crime going on around there somewhere. We do have crime around here, but it is mostly petty stuff with teenagers. Makes you wonder where all the parents are as they don't seem to raise their kids or know what they are doing anymore. Broken homes and no father present. We now have crazies doing donuts in the middle of the intersections now. Glad they can afford new tires. Because they are spinning wheels leaving black circles everywhere. Themartianchick. I know it would be hard, but I would try hard to move out of the area you are in. I know it has been on the news here that a lot of people are leaving NY. May be something to think about. There are much safer places than NY. Please stay safe and watch your back as they say. So much has changed since the election of 2020.
  20. Themartianchick, stay aware of your surroundings no matter where you are. Be it at work or just shopping. Praying for your safety and the safety of all you work with. This man was no journalist and should have been asked for his credentials on that job. He should have been escorted out of the building by force if needed. This has put you and everyone else in that building in danger of who knows what. Journalist do not take pictures of anything in files or of children without their faces being blotted out if they are going to be on certain news reports. This sounds like what Mother said about front runner to maybe civil war or something. And for what agenda is anybody's guess. And the question remains as to how these ties in with Jan 6th other than he was in on that. I pray you and your coworkers are not fired for some wako jerk that thinks he can get people fired over not following whatever his agenda might be. I always thought there would be a civil war in this country before all He-- breaks loose but what the reasons behind it still remains a question. There is still a lot of unanswered questions behind the Jan. 6th mess than happened. I know some of it but still a lot of unanswered questions. I don't care what color skin anyone has, no one has the right to do what happened to your company. And the color of skin makes no difference anyway. Here where I live, we all get along great. Doesn't matter what color skin we have as we are not racist around here. We all help each other out when needing help or whatever the case is. There might be some crazy ones out there but not that I have seen. We all get along around here. for your safety as well as for your co-workers. Hoping the phone calls will stop and nothing comes of this. No, I don't explain things well, but I am sure you know what I mean.
  21. Still cleaning up house and going through things. GS will be here shortly to eat and then I will put him to work outside. If he wants to keep coming here to eat and sit around all day while I am working on house, then he needs to work as well. I am not cleaning up behind him or around him anymore. My take is work for food and then go home or help out around here. Getting ready to rearrange my bedroom. Got all the furniture that was in that room in the way. So now I can get that room straight and cleaned. Things I hope are starting to shape up now.
  22. Jeepers, that is great that you could do that. I am going to need more bookcases but instead of bookcases I want to have a built-in bookcase going over the top of the door frame in living room and down each side. I have seen them on Pinterest, and they really look nice. And should hold a lot of books. That is just another area of wasted space like it was in my bedroom that made me able to have a linen closet in my cracker box master bath. That worked out great. And now I don't have to keep running down the hall for things I need or even use the main bathroom for doing my hair and stuff as now I have a place for everything. So, a bookcase over that door in living room should work out fine and I can then have a place for the books I have stored in shed. I want to get those out so I can read them. Some are cookbooks so those will go into the bookcase in den.
  23. We are having cooler nights now, but now the sun has come out and the temps are heating up into high 70's and low 80's. I can handle that. Still have the air conditioning on but it only comes on a couple to 3 times a day for a few minutes and then cuts off. Furnace is lit and ready for use. I just need to get the firewood in place on patio for when the time comes. Never did get more firewood but I still have a cord and I don't need it every day as long as we have those warmer days like last year during the winter months. Next year I will be getting at least 4 cords if I can find it on the cheap. Otherwise, it might not be more than 2 cords.
  24. I also, miss K-Mart. I also miss Zaire's as well. That was a great store many years ago. And then there was Bradly's. So many good stores are now gone. Around here we don't have a lot of really good stores now. I have to either drive to Newport News or downtown Suffolk. I won't drive to Norfolk or VA Beach. My neighbor took me to take GS his spare keys this afternoon. I get lost over there using my GPS. It is crazy there.
  25. MidnightMom, GS uses that overdraft as if it's a credit card. The account is in his name only so I can't do anything about it. But his time is about to run out. If he doesn't pay the overdraft by the 12th, they are going to freeze his account. So, we will see what happens then. He had his interview but 2 more of them with Best Buy to go. His hours would be from 7pm till 3am. But he doesn't know yet if he will have the job. He's not putting in anywhere else yet. GS came here and ate both lunch and dinner. He did get one of the flower beds cleaned out. I flat out told him if he wants to eat, he best be doing yard work and work for food. He just left to go home a few minutes ago. He took some apples and his Asmat book home to study. I hope he will study for it. He needs to get a good score. I got him the one for dummies. Maybe he can understand that one better. I looked through it and it was interesting to say the least. He also told me he called his mother and cussed her out and then hung-up on her. I didn't even ask why. He has some serious issues. But on a good note. I got the furniture moved from bedroom and chair and table from den to the living room and boy is my bedroom dusty. It was so much furniture in there I could not clean it up. So, moving things around will help a lot. Now hopefully I can get my bedroom cleaned up and get that dust out of there. It's a huge hot mess. Will run to store tomorrow to pick up a couple of things and then home to work on house some more. With GS out of the house I get so much more done. But a lot of it was from moving things around and out of the way for construction. Kappy, I really hope to see you on here more, but I know you have been really busy. Just glad your health is better, and all the animals are doing well. And that dog hopefully will be taken care of to not get out and attack the animals. I hope the neighbor gets the idea this time that he can and will lose the dog if he doesn't contain it. Though it is not the dogs fought but the fought of the owner. The dog will be put down if it keeps up.
