THE CAN FROM CHINA

Yes I know this is most likely in the wrong place, BUT, I love this idea and wanted the most people to see it, and this one place in Mrs S gets the most coverage...think about this a moment...GREAT IDEA, and I intend to start today...

THE CAN FROM CHINA

I WAS BUYING FOOD THE OTHER DAY AT THE COUNTRY MARKET. ON THE LABEL OF SOME PRODUCTS IT SAID FROM CHINA . FOR EXAMPLE THE" OUR FAMILY" BRAND OF THE MANDARIN ORANGES SAYS RIGHT ON THE CAN FROM CHINA I WAS SHOCKED!!? SO FOR A FEW MORE CENTS I BOUGHT THE LIBERTY GOLD BRAND OR THE DOLE IS FROM CAL. TAKES FOREVER JUST TO BUY FOOD AND DO LABEL READING ! !

Are we Americans as dumb as we appear --- or --- is it that we just do not think? While the Chinese, knowingly and intentionally, export inferior and even toxic products and dangerous toys and goods to be sold in American markets, the media wrings its hands and criticizes the Bush Administration for perceived errors.

Yet 70% of Americans believe that the trading privileges afforded to the Chinese should be suspended.

Well, duh.. why do you need the government to suspend trading privileges?

SIMPLY DO IT YOURSELF, AMERICA !!

Simply look on the bottom of every product you buy, and if it says 'Made in China ' or 'PRC' (and that now includes Hong Kong ), simply choose another product, or none at all. You will be amazed at how dependent you are on Chinese products, and you will be equally amazed at what you can do without.

THINK ABOUT THIS If 200 million Americans refuse to buy just $20 each of Chinese goods, that's a billion dollar trade imbalance resolved in our favor... fast!!

The downside? Some American businesses will feel a temporary pinch from having foreign stockpiles of inventory.

The solution?? Let's give them fair warning and send our own message. Most of the people who have been reading about this matter are planning on implementing this on June 4, and continue it until July 4.? That is only one month of trading losses, but it will hit the Chinese for 1/12th of the total, or 8%, of their American exports. Then they will at least have to ask themselves if the benefits of their arrogance and lawlessness were worth it.

Remember, June 4 to July 4.

EVEN BETTER. . . START NOW.

Send this to everybody you know. Let's show them that we are Americans and NOBODY can take us for granted. If we can't live without cheap Chinese goods for one month out of our lives, WE DESERVE WHAT WE GET!

Pass it on, America

so ya mean I can't eat chinese food for a month? *sigh* well, ok.

this is only food right? cause I need some new shoes and they all come from China! well at least the style I am looking for.

no chinese food eh? a whole month you say? how about forever? though china may call in its loans and then we are in trouble!

I best go to china town next weekend and get more tea, I am almost out of High Mountain Tea.

Yep, great post Trip.

I need to remind myself to check those things EVERY time I shop. Sad thing is, there are so many things that we now rely on China for almost exclusively because we don't have any American source readily available. Not to say we could not find something that was made in the US, but that it would take longer than just walking in the store to pick it up.

We've been 99% China free for about 2 years. Some things you just have to buy from China because you can't find them anywhere else. Now we are not buying any food from Mexico. Most of the salmonella outbreaks come from there or the area (from similar practices?)

There are some great websites and magazines out there to help you on your quest. I know those socks are more expensive if made in USA, but they last so much longer also. :)

great post! hitting them in the wallet is the only thing many folks understand. we are far too eager to sell our birthright in this country for some shiny electronic baubles. america is so fortunate to have all the resources it needs to be self sufficient, if only they would get off their lazy butts and use their heads for something other than an ear-spacer.

I have seen a lot of things that say assembled in the USA. Some manufacturers are honest enough to say that the materials came from somewhere else. And some will admit that the whatever was assembled somewhere else and the materials came from a third place. The price is a good indicator. More expensive stuff is usually made in the USA. People overseas don't have unions and/or a Congress that sets wages.
