Midnightmom
There has been some controvery in the three dog related FB groups that I am in. Is it okay (safe) to give dogs ICE CUBES to help cool them down in the summer heat??? https://www.bluecross.org.uk/pet-advice/ice-cubes-for-dogs?fbclid= https://www.edinburghlive.co.uk/news/true-false-should-you-giving-16605125?fbclid= This is the BEST one! Mt_Rider
Dogs drink out of really icy cold streams............... Sounds weird to think it would harm them....give them an "ice-cream headache" mebbe? While on Maui, we put a Husky pup into our bathtub with water and ice cubes. He loved 'fishing' for the icecubes while cooling thru his feet. MtRider ....not an expert tho.... Quote Link to comment
Midnightmom
Not a "fair" comparison................... Huskies are "cold weather" dogs by nature. 1 Quote Link to comment
Littlesister
I used to put ice cubes in the bowl of water for my dog. Never had a problem but I did this while she was outside as it was hot and it kept the water cool. Ice did melt fast though. 1 Quote Link to comment
out_of_the_ordinary
I hadn't heard of that before. I used to freeze water in empty Cool Whip and chip dip containers for my dog. He was a strong chewer and loved gnawing on (and pretending to guard) his ice on hot summer days. Edited July 19, 2021 by out_of_the_ordinary 1 Quote Link to comment
mommato3boys
We have always put ice in are outside dogs water. Like Out_of_the_ordinary I would freeze water in a bowl and around 1ish I would put in their bowl. We have every kind of dog from a Heniz57 to registered poodles and never had an issue. 1 Quote Link to comment

Yeah....one might ask WHY we would choose to have a Husky on MAUI.....right? We didn't. We were dog sitting for the idiots who probably kept the dog in A/C! MtRider 1 Quote Link to comment
Annarchy
There is so very much out there, don’t do this & that… drives me crazy. Before the internet got popular, we used to feed our pups almost anything. Everyone of them lived over 16-18 years. Ice in water, ice cubes, onion, garlic, etc., it never bothered them. Still doesn’t. 3 Quote Link to comment
