  1. OK - so I (we) are getting things back up and thanks for that , but.......................................... I still can't find where to get my 'earthy brown' skin (or whatever it was called?)back up? and no SHOUT on ours? is it back or still in the works? I hate changes ! and smilies somtime are there but other times can't load them up? Sorry but this old guy needs help?
  2. Yes , same here and they have been doing it for some time but don't push letting people know about it.AND Remember "Black Friday" is not that far away!
  3. I can't get anywhere here in last few days?Tried 'shout' but it never loads what I typed? Now whenever I am on there is a lot of things trying to download from this site?HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!and the screen is all messed (big wording) up but I can seet things? Michael
  4. Now just wait a minute! STILL eatting the Halloween Candy so still have time for wishing on that day!
  5. Thanks again for the list! We now have her 'bookmarked' on my Kindle so I can download them from there. By the way you are posting them as 'free' but some you have to have PRIME to get them for free and that we do not have BUT the rest are free. Like that it is just a list of what we want (prpe and stuff) without having to go through the whole list of free books on Amizon.
  6. In a pinch the bucket type would work. Keep an eye out at yard sales and thrift shops for 'wringers' - we have found 2 brand new ones (I guess from Y2K?). Just check out the rollers as sometimes they get hard and then don't work very well. You want a little give so you don't break buttons or pop off the rollers when putting clothes through them. Love our Maytag Wringer Washer, but just in case I built a stand that the wringer clamps onto so I can do it standing up (not on side of wash tub) out of wood and have the wash tubs up on milk crates. We do use it on our "Pioneer Weekends"
  7. OH good question.............................. I would say to be safe and hidden Natural gas furnace (or propane if you are WAY OUT THERE) That is why we don't have a wood stove for heat - I know I will wait too long to clean out chimney (fire) and don't like everything smelling of smoke, so we have gas for the main heat source.
  8. here I go again........................... off to download a few.
  9. Nail Art Techniques: How To Create Mesmerizing Design Of Your Manicure Other Women Envy? Well we all know what one downloaded! and sorry but.......................... 35 Healthy Chicken Recipes <---- Healthy for WHO? Not the Chicken? but yes I will try and download that one.
  10. well...... still here. Never even had the lights blink? but all around us there are blackouts and trees down , some schools are closed for today and the scanner is busy with calls for this and that. Poor Lori has to go to work today. We were so looking forward to a few days without power - now we may have to 'fake it' over the weekend?
  11. Doing OK so far.................................. They keep moving the time that we should be getting the high winds back? was 4:30 pm , then 6pm, now maybe 9 pm??????????????? The wind is blowing outside but not the 50+ they called for. Some areas around us have trees down and some lose of power but only 1 block here and there. Scanner keeps us informed (and busy) about what is happening so when it gets close to us I wil know. For now w eare heading up to bed to read for a bit before sleep.
  12. We LOVE Yard Sales / Garage Sales...........and Auctions too! We get the best deals and sometimes even new things that people 'thought' they needed but never opened that we get for pennies on the dollar. Most of the stuff we have and use we got a few years after "Y2K" didn't happen and people were just trying to unload stuff. YES to the jars! Why pay for new ones that once you can in them they are 'used'? Let someone else pay that price and then you get them cheap take home and wash and nobody can tell those jars from new ones. Last month had a friend ask if we 'needed' and more jars as they had a few in cellar that were just sitting there? BRING BOXES he said! We did but there were more than that so we put the rest in our market tote (just happened to have them along) and came home with like 20 boxes of all sizes of canning jars. We did share some with newly marries Amish Friends.
  13. Click on the link up there Click on the 'Buy Now With 1 Click' button on the upper right hand side of the Amazon page It MIGHT ask if you want to send to your computer or your Kindle Just be sure whenever you down load anything from Amazon there is no price listed in the 'Buy Now With 1 Click' button. If there is a price in there...it isn't free. Oh, I know 'how to do it' but sometimes with the wi-fi we have in area it is slow to download and then I have to find where it puts it. this time it went right to our books and I was looking everywhere BUT there. read most of it last night - good thing it was free.
  14. OK, I think I did it right so I got it? have to wait until Lori gets home to know for sure. This is just what I asked Lori to find for me last night .... and here it is.
  15. Good advice- even after all the years of canning we always pull out the recipe (and the blue book) and read it over again before canning. Sorry to hear about your set back - but let’s just call it....................... Lessons Learned and go on from there. Remember it was only beets and a few lids NOT a major canning like doing a side of beef <-- now THAT would have been a big loss.
  16. for us anyway - we look at what it costs to save money! how much did the water cost to wash those paper plates? how much did that guy wear out shoe leather walking around to find that nickle? instead of 'cleaning' your kids in a tub full of dirty water - teach them to take a sponge bath in a bowl full of clean water! going a week without buying food is dumb - because you had to buy the food you eat that week another week? plan to eat 'free food' instead (like from a garden). So none of what they showed will save any money in the long run? Turn off lights you don't need on. don't run water down drain just to get it hot or cold. Cook mor then 1 meal at a time and eat leftovers. use leftovers to make soup or stews. can we say CAN! That is just a start...........................
  17. Quick Michael use them for all you can! in 9 months they will be spoiling your brother or sister! And you will become "the older brother!" we all know THAT wil never happen.
  18. we will hold the fort - waiting for you to check in - remember , sometimes things make you want to - and before you know it things are better - so hang in there and whenever you can - <------
  19. It is SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO Good ............................they had to name it twice! Cous Cous
  20. Well THAT was a fun Day! Talked to my Mom on the phone and I thanked her for being there the day I was born so I didn't have to enter the world all alone! Had a nice meal at Arby's Restaurant . . . . But I kept looking around and never did see Arby there? She must have been too busy in the shout box here to come out and ‘talk’ with us?
  21. we are using outdoor solar spotlights (landscaping) at night for room lighting when we just want a 'glow'. They are even bright enough to read by and safer then candles as we can leave the room and not worry. Just have to remeber to put them outside during the day but some I have in windows and on bright sunny days that is enough to charge them for the few hours they are needed. Like what you posted - lots of info to make you think a bit.
