  1. starting to have rain every day or so here, maybe an inch each time at most, but farmers are saying it is to late!
  2. OK, here's the deal! send me a pm and we will send your kids some stamps (#10 envelope) to get them started. this deal is ONLY for the first 10 to reply!
  3. Looking for something new for homeschool this year? When not try Postage Stamp Collecting, it is a fun hobby where you will learn Geography, math, and lots of other things that you can use as school work. Just don't tell the kids that they are learning while having fun! There are lots of websites on Stamp Collecting as well as places to get stamps. You can buy Albums or make your own to start with using blank paper and a loose-leaf binder. There are even sites on the web where you can download papers. Don't forget the US Post Office has a ton of free stuff for Stamp Collectors; you can even sign up for their free Stamp Magazine. For the little ones they may just have fun looking at all the art work on the stamps or finding the numbers on them to collect. The older ones can use maps to find the Country the stamp came from and for the advanced try looking up the names on stamps written in another language to identify them. Since starting this hobby (again) only a few months ago we are having a blast with all there is to learn about stamps. We are even starting a Youth Stamp Club at the Local Library as a branch off of the Adult Stamp Club we belong to.
  4. After a very busy few days I am able to be home and rest. So I wanted to take a break and have a snack but first I went out to check on the gardens seeing we have been leaving very early in the morning and coming home later I haven’t been out there in 3 days. So I headed out and was checking the tomatoes and one was just so good looking I ATE IT! Then on to check the string beans and a few needed picking , so I did and ATE them too. On to the pea patch and was checking to see if they were ready yet and well.......... some were so I did a taste test (Just to make sure) LOL Oh look! A cute little pickling cucumber is sticking its head out of the vines.................... mmmmmmm it was good! On the way back in I spied some red in all the cherry tomato vines so I took a few and popped them in my mouth! Came back in to the house for some tea and crackers with cheese but for some reason now I am not as hungry as I was before I checked the gardens? Anybody want to join me for just a spot of tea?
  5. liked most of them and yes there are some bad ones out there but what group does? Thanks for a few laughs after a very long day.
  6. cool! to tired to type anything else! Oh wait.................... I just did?
  7. Up early to water the garden and weed before the sun gets to hot! Did some quick shopping for us and neighbor lady that can't drive anymore and Go check on friend that had a pass maker put in on Thursday ,she is doing fine but we did a few things for her then headed home. Just in time to leave for the "Bag Sales" at 2 places first was a Church Rummage sale but today was the last day so it was Fill-a-bag for $1.00 each! We got 5 big bags of stuff! Then home unloade that stuff so we had room and headed to the big one! After 20 minute drive we were at The Lions Club Auction and Bag Sale They ALWAYS has tons of stuff that can’t go in the Auction so sell it just before the Auction, Today over 250 boxes to look though and fill a bag or box for $2.00 each! We filled 3 big boxes and 1 big bag. BUT it was in the parking lot – in the heat and sun! Headed home AGAIN and unloaded all that and sorted out: ours, gifts, Flea market stuff, things on list for Amish Friends, more stuff for Flea Market, and then just “STUFF”. When the room was clear and things packed away we started to pull out the Dollhouses (18 going to this Show!) and put them into front room to get ready to load into van. But we have to wait until it is cooler outside or the wax we use to hold everything in place will melt and things will fall down! Back into office to check on you guys and the phone line is down? I hit it while moving boxes around so I had to stop, pull out boxes and find the plug. It was pulled out so I redid it, put everything back against the wall and started here again. …………………And here I am now just sitting and typing. Dollhouse Show it at the Farmers Museum in Auburn, NY so we need to be there at 8am to set up the Display and be ready at 11 am for the opening. But first have to wake up Lori at 5 am so we can pack the rest of the stuff that can’t be out in heat, leave here by 7 am so we can get there on time. Wel that’s about it for today! See not much? LOL

  9. will have Lori try and find the books? thanks as they look very cute - to have on hand.
  10. ..................... why I LOVE to read good old BOOKS! Yes less room your way - but I can go get a book anytime I want to read from our book room <-- like last night when I couldn't sleep.
  11. What a wonderful Day I am having! Left early to go to the Amish Farm we help with Farmers Market and picking on the farm, and today was the start of thrashing day! Poor Lori had to go to work at Library but she will be there after 5 pm as we will be trashing until 8pm tonight. I am just home long enough to rest a bit (very hot out there but a breeze so that helps – but eh sun gets to me) So I get there and they have already have gone down to the big barn to get the thrasher ready to go but Ben is back at shop to fix a strap. Hey he says, want to drive the horses back down to the boys? YES! So I got to drive the 2 horse team and wagon across the fields out back to the thrasher. Back it right in so we can hook it up they say. NOT if you want the barn doors to stay on I say. So Joseph gets on and does that part and off we go to the oat field that was cut and stacked last week – they (oat stacks) are very dry and ready to be thrashed. I hope off the wagon when we get onto the middle of the field and helped ‘park’ the old McCormick Thrasher so we can hook up all the belts (11 in all) to make it work and we also had to unfold some parts to get it ready. They took a break and I headed home for a rest. Later I have to go back and help toss the oat stacks onto wagons and bring to the thrasher. Then my job will change and I help toss the stacks (using hay fork) into the machine to separate the oats, chaff and other stuff before it is bagged or put on wagon to go back to barn. I am so tired! .......................... But having so much fun! I was born too late in life BUT thank God for being able to work with the Amish that still do things “the old way”.
  12. I think weather.com is just putting up pictures of rain to keep our hopes up that this dry weather may end. But seeing every day they post rain and we don't get it maybe they are just rolling dice to post weather each day? Was at a picnic on Sunday and someone stated that Weathermen are the only people they know that can get things wrong EVERYDAY at work and STILL have a job.
  13. That is to stop people from stocking them up for deals. Also hate that you have to buy 3 to save $1.00 and if it is something new - what to do IF I don't like it?
  14. ............ did you hear about the Blonde that wanted to fax something so she went to the Library to get it send? When she handed it over there was a postage stamp on the top of it and she also asked for a copy to be made first before it went into the machine so she could bring it back home to put in her files.
  15. Since I was up at 4am anyway did get to see some Thunder Bloomers, and then rain started in a little bit. Then another Thunder Boomer and it stopped! So I guess they called for rain today and THAT was IT? There are small puddles on the road but nothing that big. Grass is still so brown and dead we can hear it crunch as we walk on it.
  16. ......................... Also IF you join S.A.G. you can't have a name that someone else has? So when Mike Douglas wanted to join he had to go as Michael Douglas instead. Now that I started typing I forgot all the real of them I know? I know all this is just TMI for most - but for me anyway it was fun knowing them.
  17. Putting you on our Prayer List. "See" you when you get back in here. Michael and Lori
  18. Hey - welcome back and glad to know you were busy and not having problems that kept you away.
  19. Now THAT'S a list of books! Speaking of 'listening' to books - Sometimes IF a book is a real thinker or hard to keep straight I too get it on audio to listen too. BUT, I also get the book out and sit in my rocker and follow along with what is being said. For some reason I remember the book better that way? Also if it is a technical book (Stephen Hawking's books come to mind) it helps with all the weird words. LOL
  20. CUTE! We like to tell people that ask if we hang clothes outside that yes we do .................... On our Solar Clothes Dryer! Takes them a bit to see that it is our Clothesline! If they get it at all - some think we DO have a solar Dryer out in the back yard?
  21. One day a man decided to go sit on his porch and watch the sun rise and set. The next thing you know there is a blonde running to her mailbox. She kept running back and forth from her house to the mailbox for a good ten minutes. Finally the man got tired of wondering, and asked, "Why do you keep running back and forth to the mailbox?" The blonde replied, "My computer keeps saying I've got mail."
  22. Called for rain today............................... and it started at 8:45 am! About 17 drops per minute for about 1 1/2 minutes! So let’s see that would be about 1/15457 thousands of an inch for the week!!!!!!!!!!!!! NOT HAPPY!
  23. nice find! I don't think you could have built it for that much?
