Has anyone else canned salmon or tuna? My hubby loves salmon but can not eat the "store bought" canned and frozen because of the dye used. We have a local chain store than can get me fresh caught no dye added but it cost $20 a pound. Right now it a "splurge" but I was thinking if I could just cough up the $100 bucks for the 5lb box and can it we would have it through the winter. I was just wondering if anyone had canned fish and had success.

Snowmom am I counting correctly 6 not including myself? Hopefully we will have more sign up I am making 10 I just wanted to be sure I had enough supplies.

I really struggled as to where to put this but since everything was on sale I decided to put it here under Pinching Pennies. This weekend much to my dismay I found myself in Wal-Mart. As we were walking through sporting goods I noticed these bins marked as clearance. I strolled on over and it was fishing equipment. I got to containers of hooks, sinkers and snap swivels for $2.50 each (75 pieces in each little container) plus a pack of medium to small bobbers for $1.00. I think they were like 10 in the pack. I also picked up a pack of funky color lures with hooks for $2.50. All in all i have enough to make 3 or 4 emergency fishing kits. Now I just need Altoids cans. LOL

Oh do join. It is so much fun. I always have a hard time deciding what to make that will be easy to mail. I always fight hubby to get to the mail box first starting in November just in case I have a package from a Mrs. S member.

Snowmom, I sure hope we do the Christmas ornaments again this year. I have found what I am making and already working on them. They are gonna be soooooo cute! For once I am ahead of the game

Have you tried Amazon. I ordered some through them one time. I wanted the smaller jars for nuts and that was the only place I could find them.

We have made several of these. The cats survived and one even raised her kittens in it.

I got mine from Snowmom yesterday, but it is back to the drawing board for me on how I am going to mail mine. I thought I had the perfect way WRONG, it's not like the cat it didn't fit. Hum maybe I should just ship the cats. No no no, no shipping the cats. Any way I am looking for plan B. Have no fear they will go out by the first, hopefully. they should, maybe, (said in my best Scarlett voice) of course they will. :-) LOL

Thanks Sassenach, we are leaning towards almond flour here. I tried for a year to removed processed foods from our diet without complete success so I am removing wheat which in turn will remove processed foods. Saintsfan is on board right now, he has agreed to try it for 2 months. We will see what he has to say come March 1. But so far so good he made the comment that even after just a few days he can tell a difference.

We have kicked up our preventive care around here. Good hand washing, diffusing essential oils, increase vitamin C and avoiding public as much as possible. Which is kind of hard both Saintsfan and myself since he works at the hospital and I am the secretary of the biggest Methodist church in town. Oh yeah preventive maintenance everywhere. Clorox wipes stay in my desk along with a can of Lysol. The pastor went home sick Tuesday and has not been back in the office so today I Lysoled and wiped down his office. I REFUSE to get sick. At times like this I don't want to carry cash. I use my debit card only so that I don't have to touch money. I wasn't going to take the Flu shot either but hubby had a fit and talked me into it. He had a valid point - I deal with people all day and they don't care if they are sick they come in my office looking for help. I didn't get one last year so I am hoping that with me getting it every other year this shot will be a work better than most since my body is not accustomed getting it every year.

Ok so I have a dilemma, while looking for a receipt on my desk today I discovered a Christmas card with an ornament in it. It does not have a name on it so I have no idea whose it is. I thought I made just enough for everyone but the past few weeks have been crazy so help me out here ladies. Who did not get a white star?

No turkey here. Hubby is on call so we can't travel to see the boys. So a new tradition starts - crab stuff filets, crab stuff mushrooms, shrimp scampi with angel hair pasta, garlic roasted asparagus, and cheese cake. Since it just the two of us I can splurge.

Got mine from Windmom today. IF and that is a rather small if ...if all goes well mine will be in the mail tomorrow.

Ok so this week has not gone as planned. I was supposed to be on vacation and technically I am but it seems I have been called into work several times and haven't had a chance to finish my ornaments and get them in the mail. :-( But I have received mine from Snowmom, Trudy, Lunabeam and one from Tennessee today. Haven't opened it so I am not sure who it is from. This is going to be a hard year for me. The first holidays without my mom. Even though we were not "close" she was still my mom and holidays meant a lot to her. She always loved to see the ornaments I we exchanged.
