  1. You have my sympathies. It is very frustrating to use a wheelchair. DH is not in very good shape either and I hate to admit that I outweigh him!! He has quite a job pushing me around.
  2. Despite re-evaluating coverages at least every year it is just getting harder and harder for me to keep the premiums reasonable. Has anyone here found any good ideas to help cut costs on their home insurance? My deductible is already pretty high so I can' t do that again. We haven't ever had a claim either. Grrr....
  3. One of our grocery stores has had chicken breasts (with the bone in) on sale for 1$ a pound. I have cooked, canned and prepped chicken until I am nearly ready to cluck!
  4. I know it's hot as blazes outside, but don't forget those housework miles can add up. Has anyone been running laps indoors?
  5. The latest rumor about high speed internet around here is this August. I have been hearing for nearly 2 years that we would be getting AT&t U-Verse or fiber optic from the Electric Co-op. Right now my only choice is to use the tv cable people which is notorious for it's expensive intermittent service. I will be glad to finally have service. This free wi-fi dance I have been doing for 2 years is getting old.
  6. I am sorry to hear you hurt your back. I'm glad it wasn't any permanent damage. Dh hurt his last week while lifting my wheelchair into the car. He is on the mend too. We just can't take our health for granted.
  7. The annual free Icee will be available on July 11th at 7-11 stores. That's also Princess Jr.'s birthday which makes it easy to remember.
  8. Check out the details http://www.kidsbowlfree.com/
  9. I would estimate that I find between a third and a half of my family graves at this site.
  10. Would you believe I found a pedometer for $1? Now I have to wear it and walk some more!
  11. It is a good idea to check your prescriptions at least once a year. When doing my most recent check I saw Dh was taking an ER (extended release) blood pressure med. Even though it was generic it was still pricey on our limited budget. When DH went to the Dr last week I asked him if we could use the regular blood pressure pill and take it twice a day instead of the ER version. He said it would be fine. Our monthly cost went from $28 to $2.
  12. It sounds like a slow week for the walkers. But you are both still way ahead of me!
  13. Oh my gosh...it could have been so bad for you and Old Pine. I am thankful you are ok.
  14. I've not used baking soda exclusively. I use it as an occasional super cleaner. I also use Castile shampoo. It is a natural product. My hair is very baby fine and I think it might actually be gray (lol). The combo of Castile soap and baking soda seems to work well. My hair is not beautiful but I am happy with the results. I'll never have full lush hair unless I buy it!
  15. If you ever used Flonase or generic flonase you can join a class action settlement and get a partial reimbursement. Details here: http://www.FlonaseSettlement.com
  16. The old size was 3.65 pounds and the new one is 3.15 pounds. That is a %13.7 price increase. I realize some prices do have to go up but trying to "disguise" it by shrinkage is dishonest IMHO
  17. So cute..Ben and Jerrys. I need to stay away from such friends.lol.
  18. The big box of Pop Weavers microwave popcorn that once contained 24 or 25 packages now contains 20. The price stayed the same but it is a sneaky price increase by shrinking the product. (I think the individual bags may be a little smaller too but I can't prove it).
  19. On the way into town a few minutes ago we passed an old man on a bike in the heavy rain on a four lane state road. On his back/neck was perched a dauschound in a little yellow raincoat. Never saw that before!
  20. DH wanted to buy some starter tomato plants since he didn't start his seedlings soon enough this year. We have discovered that there is a plant monopoly around here. Every store in our area has the exact same plants from the same nursery for the same price. We have so far been to Wal-Mart, the farmer's co-op, Lowes, Home Depot, the local garden store and K-Mart. There is very little difference in anything between all of these places. What happened to choice and competition?
  21. Lumabean that is quite a lofty goal to get 4 miles a day. You go girl!!!
  22. One of the best ways to save money (and be healthier) is upon us. Time to plant a garden. Even if you don't have the land for a large garden most of us can manage a few big pots with lettuces and tomatoes at least!
  23. Wow..12 miles...that is impressive.
  24. Simone..just make sure to write down your cancellation number and if Ancestry still charges you , your credit card company will refund your charge.
