  1. This last one was a class action on Toprol..a blood pressure medication. Don't know yet how much we'll get back.
  2. Even though I told DH I didn't want to replace our pets as they died, he felt bad about the recent death of my favorite pet ever, last month. He went to the pound a few times looking for a suitable kitty for me and he found him. I got him last Friday as a surprise. He really picked a winner. I haven't named him yet but he is a sweetie. They called him Butthead at the pound because he bangs you all the time with his head to get petted. He is a small boy and is black and white. He's cute but not pretty. He is box trained and isn't fazed by the dogs. He hasn't done a single wrong thing or tore up anything. Good Kitty!
  3. Snow you did good for having leg problems!!
  4. Sometimes it pays to be a packrat. This past week is the third time that I have gotten cash back for prescriptions that we were over charged for as far back as 2005. If you can..try to keep all drug receipts filed neatly away. One never knows when you can get some of that money back!
  5. I guess because the economy is so bad, "true" clearances in stores are getting harder to find around here. It used to be easy to find big cutbacks. I have noticed lately that the price cuts are less steep and the goods on clearance are often severely damaged. It has been ages since our Lowe's/Home Depot have had good plant prices in the off season. Last week was the first time I had seen anything substantially marked down in WalMart in nearly a year. Have you noticed this where you live?
  6. Hope your back gets better Annarchy!
  7. I had to go to WalMart today because of DH's drug plan. I finally hit the jackpot. For $1 each I got him 2 hoodies, 4 nice tee shirts, a 4pack of cute socks for one of my Princesses and a bunch of school tablets. It's been awhile since WM has had REAL clearances around here.
  8. We have been on a very tight budget for over 5 years now. DH's social security just doesn't hack it. I am very thankful that DH is very handy and keeps eveything running and repaired. As long as it's a mechanical problem (and not electrical) he can fix it. We qualify for food stamps but I just can't change the mindset I have had my whole life about taking care of myself.
  9. Thanks for your good wishes ladies!
  10. http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/templates/results.aspx?qu=family%20tree&ex=2&av=all Enjoy creating!
  11. I lost the best pet I ever had last Friday. His name was EInstein, and yes I named him that because he was very smart. He was a character and entertained us with his antics. Einstein was also the most loving pet I ever had. He just insisted on being "one of us". I can type this today without crying. I am actually smiling remembering my special kitty. MIss you buddy!
  12. I am lucky with DH. He is clever and handy. He says its from growing up on a farm where you had to improvise. He has saved us a ton of money by being able to fix things. I can't believe that even dealers don't stock all parts. There is no after market part either. We tried AutoZOne and O'Reillys before we tried the dealer. I guess they figure people don;t keep cars very long anymore.
  13. Once I had the front glass panel on my stove shatter. It wasn't in use and no one was near it. Just out of the blue it broke into a million little pieces. I called the company and they weren' going to fix it since it was about 8 years old. DH called later and used his "engineering talk" and told them it was definitely a manufacturing problem. He managed to get a new front panel shipped to us and he replaced it. The manufacturer wasn't willing to pay labor but DH is handy. I too had a Corelle mug explode. It was in the microwave but since it was very old I figured it wasn't microwave safe. I would think anything made in the last 25 years should be able to be microwaved(unless marked otherwise).
  14. We had to put a new radiator in our van (only 266,000 miles). No one carries the little rubber mounts/bushings that the radiator rests on anymore. We even went to the dealer and they are out of stock forever. Apparently a 1997 model is a dinosaur. DH took a pair of my old flip flops and made his own bushings!
  15. I am in such bad shape...this morning I got completely out of breath trying to walk a little further than I normally do. I scared poor DH. 16 sounds good to me right now Snowmom!
  16. I hit the grocery store early today. I got an 18 count pack of eggs for 75 cents since the date on them is for tomorrow. I'll make a big batch of egg salad for lunches!
  17. The drug companies won't help you if you have insurance (which I do). However the drug part of it has a high deductible before the coverage kicks in so that is why I was wondering if any of the "free" cards is legit. If I dropped my insurance I would be better off in alot of ways but if I did get a serious disease I would be up the creek!
  18. Has anyone here ever used any of the free discount cards to purchase prescriptions with? I have received about 8 of them in the mail or from friends. The 2 that I have called about were not recognized by my pharmacy. I wonder if any of them are legit.
  19. I got myself a little drink and DH got a small sundae. I am snagging the hot spot at McD's right now. I am so irritated..a young guy is working the drive through and he has been hacking away for over 20 minutes. Why doesn't the manager send him home? He's coughing all around her and all the other employees and touching every outgoing drink in the drive through. I feel for the guy since they don't give sick pay but he is spreading the germs all over! I am glad he isn't fixing the indoor orders.
  20. Our newspaper also recently changed to a 3 day a week edition from a daily. It has ruined the obituary section. Sometimes folks are buried before it gets in the paper. Most people are just putting in 2 lines obits instead of the couple of paragraphs that used to be standard. The worst day to die is Thursday afternoon..too late to make the Friday paper and old news by the Sunday edition.
  21. 12 miles is great! Even though I can't do much physical activity I am trying hard to cut back on useless calories. I really need to get more disciplined like you ladies here are!
  22. I just noticed that our local paper no longer gives a discount for paying long term renewals. You save no money anymore by paying yearly instead of monthly. They used to give about a 20$ discount if you paid annually..

    Odd posts...

Thanks for being on the ball! It is so sad that someone would try to take advantage of good people.
  24. I am hoping to be able to get broadband at home soon. We have 2 different companies who are planning to serve our area. They should be cheaper than the expensive monopoly the cable company now has. I am crossing my fingers!!
  25. It looks like we all need some motivation to walk more. It is so hard to get motivated when it is cold plus having the after holiday letdown. We need a Pep Rally! No more talk We MUST walk Do you like my little jingle? lol
