  1. Anytime between now and December I hate to get any mail from Blue Cross. Will I get a big premium raise for 2014 or not? I fear the dreaded envelop. DH got his letter yesterday. He is on a senior Medicare supplement plan and his premium is only going up 3$ a month. Phew..that was a relief.
  2. Now I have a mental picture of all of us doing very slow, frequently stopped, laps in a Hobby Lobby clicking our little pedometers..lol
  3. That happens occasionally Philbe. If it is only for $3.25 I would not bother to fill out the form. Two days ago I got back 28$ for yogurt that had wrongly claimed to have health benefits. It only took me five minutes to send the online form last May.
  4. I am jealous. I love Hobby Lobby! I don't get to go there very often though since it is pretty far away..
  5. Not yet but I am expecting one. I fear that I will also lose my insurance because of the new law.
  6. It pays to read the class action lawsuit notices in magazines and newspapers. It is amazing how many everyday products that we use make court settlements to avoid lawsuits. Alot of times it is for things like making false claims in their advertising. If you used the product you can often get refunds or coupons.
  7. The garden is starting to peter out. Soon I will only have a few things producing. I get spoiled over the summer when you just step outside and have too many options for your dinners veggies! I have used the heck out of my dehydrater this year. I will have alot of veggies ready to add to our fall soups and meals.
  8. Since many of us frugal folks make our gifts I thought I would share this site that has alot of free patterns. ( To download patterns you have to register at the site.) This is based on the PBS tv series. http://www.knitandcrochetnow.com/
  9. You guys are too funny! I am a recovering yarnaholic. When we moved to this house I somehow lost a very large tub of yarn that had lovingly been hoarded from sales through the years. That was my turning point. I told myself..no more yarn until the tub was found. The tub is still missing! If only I could find it and resume my former lifestyle.
  10. I just was reading the box from the tea bags while waiting for my water to boil. The same box of 100 bags now weighs 6 1/2 ounces instead of 8 ounces. Looks like the tea will be a little weaker with a smaller bag. The price stayed the same but it is another hidden price increase.
  11. 2 miles is still good Annarchy. It is tough to keep up a routine when you travel alot. Glad you feel better Snowmom.
  12. This weeks was about Cindy Crawford. They were able to trace her line back to Charlemane (sp) in the mid 700's. Pretty cool.
  13. Thanks for sharing! This looks like it has alot of info to investigate.
  14. This past weeks was pretty good. Chris O'Donnell had relatives who fought in the Mexican War and the War of 1812. The ancestor one in 1812 (his 4 times great grandfather) was actually present at the battle where Francis Scott Key was inspired to write the Star Spangled Banner. Pretty cool.
  15. I got the annual home insurance bill. I had prepared myself for a large increase like the last two years. I couldn't believe my eyes when it had stayed the same!!! I am relieved..at least until next year.
  16. I am sorry to hear you are having these problems. Maybe you'll feel better soon!
  17. You'll get there again Snowy! I have been real good on my diet. I don't know if I lost much weight yet but I am using alot less insulin. I'm gonna weigh in tomorrow. It will be 2 full weeks of low carbs then.
  18. DH was at the doctors yesterday and I asked the Dr. if he could substitute aspirin for his blood thinner. About a year ago he really needed something stronger to thin his blood. Now that his blood counts were better, the Dr. said we could switch back to aspirin. Dr's don't always review your meds..face it , they are busy and the 20$ a month saved isn't much to them. Keep track of all your meds and the reason you are taking them. Things change and new generics become available.
  19. Very interesting. I wonder if it saved money?
  20. In many states this is the sales tax free shopping holiday for back to school. BTW, in Alabama disposable diapers are tax free this weekend!
  21. Kelly Clarkson was on last week for the first of the new series. It turned out her 3 times great grandfather was a civil war soldier, a prisoner at Andersonville and a state senator. She had no idea until they did the research.
  22. I too am curious about this. Please give us a report on how your experiment went.
  23. I love TracFone. I've had mine for 5 years now. It was a cheap (10$) phone that does more than I need it to and it's done great for 5 years..not even needed to replace a battery yet. It is easy to do set up even for someone who is not a technology weinie like me!
  24. Who Do You Think You Are is back on tv. It is now on The Learning Channel Tuesdays at 8 pm central time.
