  1. I made some Banana Nut bread Jam in '09 and about the top 1/2 inch has turned brown but it tastes fine and we are still kicking!
  2. Great job with the ham Michael! I try to do that also. My first loaf of gluten free bread is interesting. I used corn flour as that is all I could get and afford. I know most folks are near real groc. stores and Walmarts but we are not. I just used my regular bread recipe and added three eggs and then clear gel/mixed with the flour. It looks like cornbread (in a loaf pan) and is the consistency of cornbread but tastes like regular bread! Kinda looking forward to trying other types of flour with this recipe.
  3. Baking chicken and roasting vegetables! Attempting my first loaf of gf bread. Satsumas for dessert! Thanks Ambergris! Also starting a crockpot breakfast for overnight.
  4. Ambergris! What the heck is a satsuma? I saw them the other day at the fruitstand and they looked like limes so I passed them up.
  5. We are still eating crockpot beans and collard greens also frozen leftover chicken soup. Our neighbors spend more in 3 days on food than we do in a week for everything. They eat out every day. Wish I had that money to stock up with!
  6. Tonight, the last of my homemade chicken veggie soup and some homemade rice pudding also. Both work on the gluten free plan. Tomorrow -- a hamburger/ bean bake in the crockpot and collard greens.
  7. I have a crockpot full of French Onion Soup going. That should last several days!
  8. Sauteed Treet, baked beans and green beans! Going cheap for a couple of days.
  9. Today I baked BBQ Chicken for lunches and my first rutabaga in years! It's great! I hated them as a child.
  10. Thanks Ambergris! No, I had not. Will find it now! Dinner today is a pkg. of Spanish Bean Soup that mom11 sent in our Christmas box last year. They are in the crockpot and smell great! Will probably make rice also! Yesterday, I made Coffee Shortbread! Great! Probably about the last of anything I make with gluten for me as I am joining DH being gluten free for the time being.
  11. Hi Cat! I'll have to come up with something else but thank you for finding the recipe. Can't use much cornstarch and no soy--that's about 2/3 of the recipe. I do already have a hand crank machine. Not a nice metal one though, just plastic. I need to get to a real grocery store and buy some gluten free rice flour and some of that xanthun gum and then play. Hopefully soon and thanks again!
  12. We're having the leftover spaghetti sauce over rice for a couple of nights. Gotta figure out how to make gluten free noodles!
  13. Made Spaghetti with meat sauce for dh. Bought gluten free noodles. and salad, orange for dessert.
  14. Tonight, Tamale Casserole and salad. An orange for dessert.
  15. Pork chops with sweet potatoes in the crockpot and green beans. Peach for dessert.
  16. Chicken Pot Pie from my canned chicken and a salad!

  18. A large vitamin bottle worth of orange zest!!!!! Want to have some handy to add to tea and coffee!
  19. AMarthabyheart! How did you do on your canning spree? Today I did 1 pint and 13 half pints of Spiced pear Butter!!!!!!
