  1. I found out she is 9. She picked it up fast but we have to work on how to properly hold yarn to crochet. She didn't get why I wanted her to hold the yarn that way.
  2. I love Backwoods Home . Their forum is what led to this one.
  3. 1st I'm going to see that she knows the 5 basic stitches. I have some simple hats and scarf samples that I can show her. I have Friday off so I think I'll make up a few samples. I wonder how many different patterns I can make up. Craft night is Friday. I was talking to the woman that wants to learn the basket weave stitch. Now I'm not so sure she has a lot of crocheting experience because of something she said, guess I'll find out. If she can come she would also bring her DD who is in her early teens.
  4. DD2 said she has a pocket one...So you can wipe and type at the same time.
  5. I'm glad they didn't have to cut your leg off out or call the EMS to get you down. Take care and feel better.
  6. A few weeks ago Dh went to the doctor. He has tummy problems. That week a paper was taped on my bathroom wall of the bristal stool chart so I;m thinking it's something the doctor gave Dh. Than comments started to be writen on the paper. The kids are dating, rating and commenting to each other. They even made up a 8 th category. DD2 got the chart from her science teacher and put it up in the bathroom. I told them They think it's
  7. The ladies at church have a craft night once a month. I go and work on my crochet project. I've wanted to teach my girls to crochet but they are not interested. I did teach my Son. He learned the basics just to say he knows how. He gets bored quickly. He's a teenager. He learned to knit off of You Tube. I did teach a friend the double crochet stitch but when it came to making a pattern she got overly frustrated. She was doing fine, I didn't care how many times I had to show her the same pattern but she kept apologizing and talking to herself in Spanish. I feel that I failed her. When I make coffee for church I take my crochet project with me to work on. A woman wanted to see what I was working on so I showed her the crocodile stitch shawl I'm making. She wants to learn the basket weave stitch did I know how? Yes, I do know that one. Another woman has a DD that wants to learn to crochet. Could I help her DD? I was hoping it was her older teenage DD but it's the younger one that wants to learn. Showing a basket weave stitch to someone that knows how to crochet should not be hard. Helping a young lady to crochet has me It's been awhile since I've been around someone under 10. How would you teach her ?
  8. We didn't make it to Petco. I replaced all but 1 tire on my car and that one decided to go flat. Son changed his 1st flat tire and did it under 20 minutes with me telling him how to do it. When DD2 asked me how I knew what to do I told her my Dad taught me . He believed if you couldn't change a tire you couldn't drive.
  9. My new favorite mexican dish. http://www.simplyrec...es/posole_rojo/ Posole Rojo Recipe Prep time: 30 minutes Cook time: 3 hours We haven't made this in a slow cooker, but I'm guessing that step 6 could easily be done in a slow cooker. ancho, or a combination of both, chili pods Salt 1 large (108 ounce, 6 lb 12 oz, 3 kg) can white hominy, drained and rinsed 3 lbs pork shoulder (preferably with bone), cut into 1 to 1 1/2 inch cubes (can also use pork shanks), make sure to use a cut well marbled with fat 8 cloves garlic, 4 cloves roughly chopped, and 4 whole cloves 3 bay leaves 1 teaspoon ground cumin 2 Tbsp of dry oregano (Mexican oregano if available) Garnishes (can prep while pozole is cooking): Half a small cabbage, thinly sliced One bunch cilantro, chopped 1/2 white onion, chopped 2 avocados, chopped 4 limes, quartered A bunch of red radishes, sliced thin A couple dozen tostada shells* *Tostadas are crispy fried corn tortillas. They are sold packaged and can often be found in the same section of your grocery store as fresh tortillas, or can be found at Mexican markets. You can make your own by frying stale corn tortillas (or tortillas that have dried out a bit in a warm oven), in hot vegetable oil until stiff. Method 1 Fill a large 10-12 quart stockpot with 5 quarts of water. Set on heat to bring to a boil while you proceed with the next steps. 2 Remove and discard the stems, seeds, and large veins from the chili pods. Heat a cast iron pan on medium high and lightly roast the chili pods for a couple minutes, until they begin to soften. Do not let them burn. While the chilies are heating, bring a medium pot with 3 cups of water to a boil. Once the chiles have softened, submerge them in the pot with the 3 cups of hot water, cover the pot and remove from heat. Let the chiles soak in the hot water for 15 to 20 minutes. 3 Heat a tablespoon or two of olive oil (enough to coat the bottom of the pan) in a large sauté pan on medium high heat. Pat the pork pieces dry with paper towels. Sprinkle them generously with salt. Working in batches, taking care not to crowd the pan or stir the meat much, brown the meat on all sides. Right at the end of browning the meat, add 4 cloves of roughly chopped garlic to the pan with the meat, let cook with the meat for about a minute. 4 Once the meat has browned, transfer it to the large stockpot of boiling water. Scrape up any browned bits at the bottom of the pan, and any garlic, and add those to the pot as well. Add the rinsed hominy. Add bay leaves, cumin, and oregano. When you put the oregano in, smoosh together with your hands so that the oregano breaks up more as it goes in. Add a tablespoons of salt. Bring to a simmer, reduce the heat and cook for 15 minutes. 5 Prepare the red sauce by puréeing in a blender the chilies, 2 1/2 cups or so of their soaking liquid, a teaspoon of salt, and 4 cloves of garlic. (To prevent the blender from creating too much pressure, it's probably best to start with the chiles and garlic and only a cup of the liquid in the blender, and then adding the rest of the liquid.) Strain the red sauce through a sieve, discarding the tough bits of the sauce. 6 Add the red chili sauce to the pot with the pork and hominy. Add another couple teaspoons of of salt. Return to a simmer, lower the heat to just high enough to maintain a simmer, partially covered. Cook for 2-3 hours until the pork is completely tender. Skim away excess fat. Taste for seasoning and add more salt to taste (you will likely need more than you expect, perhaps a tablespoon or more.) The resulting soup should be rather brothy, as you will be adding a lot garnishes. Add more water if necessary. 7 When getting ready to serve the pozole, you can prep the garnishes (slice the cabbage, chop the cilantro, etc.) To serve, arrange the garnishes in bowls on the table and serve the pozole soup into bowls. Let your guests pick and choose which garnishes they would like on their pozole. Serve with tostada shells (or tortilla chips if you can't find tostada shells). Yield: Serves 12, plus plenty for leftovers.

Cut second sheet of paper to size - by putting cat in the bag the presents came in. 17. Place present on paper. 18. Lift up edges of paper to seal in present. Wonder why edges don't reach. Realize cat is between present and paper. Remove cat. 19. Place object on paper to hold in place while tearing transparent sticky tape. 20. Spend 20 minutes carefully trying to remove transparent sticky tape from cat with pair of nail scissors. 21. Seal paper with sticky tape, making corners as neat as possible. 22. Look for roll of ribbon. Chase cat down hall in order to retrieve ribbon. 23. Try to wrap present with ribbon in a two-directional turn. 24. Re-roll ribbon and remove paper, which is now torn due to cat's enthusiastic ribbon chase. 25. Repeat steps 13-20 until you reach last sheet of paper. 26. Repeat previous step as often as is necessary (until you can hear cat from outside door). 33. Lay out last sheet of paper. (This will be difficult in the small area of the toilet, but do your best). 34. Discover cat has already torn paper. Unlock door, go out and hunt through various cupboards, looking for sheet of last year's paper. Remember that you haven't got any left because cat helped with this last year as well. 35. Return to lockable room, lock door, and sit on toilet and try to make torn sheet of paper look presentable. 36. Seal box, wrap with paper and repair by very carefully sealing with sticky tape. Tie up with ribbon and decorate with bows to hide worst areas. 37. Label. Sit back and admire your handiwork, congratulating yourself on completing a difficult job. 38.
