  4. I have let things get diorganized in my kitchen. I had leftover rice and I was going to make taco salad tonight. I go to where my veggie cans are and grabed corn and black beans. I like to fry corn, black beans and rice together to add to my taco salad. . I opened the corn and found out I grabed the creamed corn. I keep the 2 separate just for this reason. It's not what I wanted to use. So tomorrow I'm making corn pudding. http://www.cooks.com/rec/view/0,1950,145182-250205,00.html CORN BREAD PUDDING 1 (17 oz.) can whole kernel corn 1 (17 oz.) can cream style corn 1 stick butter, melted and cooled 1 (8 oz.) pkg. sour cream 2 eggs, beaten 1 pkg. Jiffy corn muffin mix Beat eggs. Add melted, cooled butter, add sour cream, corn, and Jiffy mix. Put into 2 1/2 quart casserole. Bake about 1 hour at 350 degrees. So I went to make some Earl Gray tea. I feel about my tea the wayt most people feel about their coffee. I had one tea bag left . I went to get another box out . It's on the shopping list now.

  6. I got to the post office today. Hopfuly the should get to you soon.
  7. Last year my Son painted his room orange. Not a bright neon orange. A nice fall color orange. I love the fall colors. I like that color of orange. I painted one wall in my room a darker shade of red/orange. When you go into the room it definitely says " Hi there I'm ORANGE!" He wanted brown curtains to go with the orange room. I found him brown sheets and a comforter for his bed but the curtains I don't like any of them. They are either to bright, to dark to girlie or just don't match the bedding. We were in WM in the hunting aisle. When there to my wondering eyes should appear .... Camouflage curtains. He wants them. They match the bedding. In a If I need some camo ....
  8. I so sorry I haven't sent mine out yet. They are boxed and ready to go I just need to get to the Post office before it closes. It's on the other side of town. Mom is stable at the moment so I should be able to get them sent out this week.
  9. I do know drugs and alcohol are a problem in my community among the Amish. I also know they have a rehab unit just for the Amish locally. Do I believe a group of thugs going around seeking retribution? NO I don't. I found the link on Facebook where 99% of the my friends are Mennonite. They don't believe it ether. They did have a good laugh about it.
  10. OK http://dsc.discovery.com/tv-shows/amish-mafia/videos/coming-this-december.htm
  11. By the time I went most of the hard core ones were home sleeping it off. I don't mind going shopping on black friday. I just go later in the day. I don't care if I miss some deals. Most of the people around here are still civilized. No having a friend pick you and your new TV up while you leave a 2 year old behind sleeping in your car. No shooting someone over a parking space, No brawls.
  12. Yesterday the weather was lovely. Today, windy, cold and snowing. So my kids wanted to go shopping today. We went to Wm got fish food and some Legos for a friend. Next stop Tractor Supply. DD1 got cowboy boots. DD1 some nice winter boots. Son a hoodie that says " My red tractor is worth more than your red sports car" Did they want to go anywhere else? No. They were not going into the madness. DD1 went with a friend to Kohl's late Thursday night. She said she was never doing that again.
  13. 14 years ago at 9:36 am I was welcoming my last blessing into the world. She is the most beautiful gift anyone has ever been gifted with. Happy Birthday to the best daughter in the whole wide world!
  14. I wanted to get my turkey Monday and thaw it in the frig. With work and being at the hospital with Mom. I forgot. She is stable for now and back at the nursing home. We were out of fresh food so I went to the store last night and got a small ham ( DD1 doesn't like turkey) and wanted to get a deboned turkey breast. I thought it would thaw the fastest. It would also be small enough I could defrost in the microwave. I grabed the wrong thing. The bone in turkey breast is still frozen solid. It won't fit in the mircowave. It looks like we will have turkey for Sunday dinner. We are having a wondarful ham dinner for Thanksgiving. How was your meal?
  15. We had BIG TIME FOG this morning, so bad that I missed the road I take to work. The raod my factory is on is one big loop so I just took the next turn and drove around. I heard the opperator page my superivsor and my only thought was my Mom. I did get a call from the hospital but it was only to tell me she was being released today. Being at the hospital all week and working I relized I had no fresh food in the house. Just got back from the store. I hope I got everything I need for Thanksgiving dinner. Good thing WM is open tomorrow. I'm going over to see Mom and than going to bed. I haven't been sleeping well.
  16. I now have them boxed up and labled. I'll get to the Post Office Friday. Sorry they are late.
  17. Checking out at the store, the young cashier suggested to the older woman, that she should bring her own grocery bags because plastic bags weren't good for the environment. The woman apologized and explained, "We didn't have this green thing back in my earlier days." The young clerk responded, "That's our problem today. Your generation did not care enough to save our environment f or future generations." She was right -- our generation didn't have the green thing in its day. Back then, we returned milk bottles, soda bottles and beer bottles to the store. The store sent them back to the plant to be washed and sterilized and refilled, so it could use the same bottles over and over. So they really were truly recycled. But we didn't have the green thing back in our day. Grocery stores bagged our groceries in brown paper bags, that we reused for numerous things, most memorable besides household garbage bags, was the use of brown paper bags as book covers for our schoolbooks. This was to ensure that public property, (the books provided for our use by the school) was not defaced by our scribblings. Then we were able to personalize our books on the brown paper bags. But too bad we didn't do the green thing back then. We walked up stairs, because we didn't have an escalator in every store and office building. We walked to the grocery store and didn't climb into a 300-horsepower machine every time we had to go two blocks. But she was right. We didn't have the green thing in our day. Back then, we washed the baby's diapers because we didn't have the throwaway kind. We dried clothes on a line, not in an energy-gobbling machine burning up 220 volts -- wind and solar power really did dry our clothes back in our early days. Kids got hand-me-down clothes from their brothers or sisters, not always brand-new clothing. But that young lady is right; we didn't have the green thing back in our day. Back then, we had one TV, or radio, in the house -- not a TV in every room. And the TV had a small screen the size of a handkerchief (remember them?), not a screen the size of the state of Montana. In the kitchen, we blended and stirred by hand because we didn't have electric machines to do everything for us. When we packaged a fragile item to send in the mail, we used wadded up old newspapers to cushion it, not Styrofoam or plastic bubble wrap. Back then, we didn't fire up an engine and burn gasoline just to cut the lawn. We used a push mower that ran on human power. We exercised by working so we didn't need to go to a health club to run on treadmills that operate on electricity. But she's right; we didn't have the green thing back then. We drank from a fountain when we were thirsty instead of using a cup or a plastic bottle every time we had a drink of water. We refilled writing pens with ink instead of buying a new pen, and we replaced the razor blades in a razor instead of throwing away the whole razor just because the blade got dull. But we didn't have the green thing back then. Back then, people took the streetcar or a bus and kids rode their bikes to school or walked instead of turning their moms into a 24-hour taxi service. We had one electrical outlet in a room, not an entire bank of sockets to power a dozen appliances. And we didn't need a computerized gadget to receive a signal beamed from satellites 23,000 miles out in space in order to find the nearest burger joint. But isn't it sad the current generation laments how wasteful we old folks were just because we didn't have the green thing back then? Please forward this on to another selfish old person who needs a lesson in conservation from a smart young person.
