  1. Yesterday as I was getting ready for work I had to go into my dark kitchen. Why there is only one light switch and why you have to fumble thru the dark kitchen to turn on the light is one of the many things that has confounded me about my house. :scratchhead:/> It was built in 1959. There are some built in shelves under the light switch. Thy are not big enough to be useful and usually a catchall for junk. So there I was in a dark kitchen reaching for the light switch when I touch fur. LIVING BREATHING FUR.:runcirclsmiley2:/> 1st thought was MOUSE. 2nd thought was wild SQUIRREL.:behindsofa:/> I jumped back about a foot when the LIVING BREATHING FUR meowed at me.:imoksmiley:/> Samara is a mostly black cat. I think she looks like a burnt pumpkin pie. She is a very shy cat. I think it's been 7 months since I last touched her. I had to pry her away from the light switch to turn on the light. She let me pet her and purred for a minute than jumped down and walked away.:shakinghead:/> Silly cat.
  2. I got mine from mommato3boys yesterday. It's adorable. I should be done by tomorrow and have them mailed next week.
  3. A blonde walks into a bank in New York City and asks for the loan officer. She says she’s going to Europe on business for two weeks and needs to borrow $5,000. The bank officer says the bank will need some kind of security for the loan, so the blonde hands over the keys to a new Rolls Royce. The car is parked on the street in front of the bank; she has the title, and everything checks out. The bank agrees to accept the car as collateral for the loan. The bank’s president and its officers all enjoy a good laugh at the blonde for using a $250,000 Rolls as collateral against a $5,000 loan. An employee of the bank then drives the Rolls into the bank’s underground garage and parks it there. Two weeks later, the blonde returns and repays the $5,000 and the interest, which comes to $15.41. The loan officer says, “Miss, we are very happy to have had your business, and this transaction has worked out very nicely; but we are a little puzzled. We checked you out and found that you are a multimillionaire. What puzzles us is - why would you bother to borrow $5,000?” The blond replies…..”Where else in New York City can I park my car for two weeks for only $15.41 and expect it to be there when I return?”
  4. I have 3 teenagers. 18,15 and my Turkey baby will be 14 on Black Friday. There are times when I feel WW3 will start in my house. The youngest 2 are 20 months apart. There can be a lot of strife between them. Lately they have been moody. I've had to lay down the law. Today at church Son went up to a neighbor of ours who is a pilot and has a plane. He asked the man if he paid for fuel could he get a Birthday flight for his sister. Just because he knew his sister would like to go for a flight. DH and I had no idea he was going to do this. Tomorrow he is going to the farm and work to pay for the flight. I love seeing hints of them starting to grow up. One day I might even miss WW3 in the living room.
  5. I'm 50% done. Long hours at work and being Mom's taxi are taking up a lot of time. I'm making coffee at church tomorrow and should have time to work on them during the everythings done and waiting for the rush time.
  6. I needed to wash some towels. I know where 4 of them are at so I asked the kids to get all the towels they have in their rooms. DD1 has her own towels for when she goes to collage and she uses and takes care of her own. DD2 gave me the 2 she had in her room. Son tossed 7 at me as I was loading the washer. and DH wonders why he can't find any towels.
  7. This is my all time favorite cheapskate. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hetty_Green
  8. Just saying "hi there" from a fellow northern Indiana mrs. survival member.

  9. Yes the Doctor and I are sure it was the car ride. I take a anti-inflammatory every day for arthritis pain. I do feel very tanked up at the moment. I can see why they told me not to drive. I don't like feeling this way. I would not make a good drug addict.
  10. This weekend I went to Evansville with my girls to check out the university . It's 6 hours from my house to Evansville. Because DD'1s BF who we were taking with us had to work until 9:00pm we didn't leave here until 10:00 pm Thursday night. We got to the hotel about 4:00 am their time slept until 7:30am and went to the university. Met with the per- veterinarian adviser, financial aid, and toured the campus had lunch and came home. We got back about 10:pm Saturday morning my back started to spasm. Tried to do some house work and did the shopping to see if it would loosen up and it wasn't to unbearable. Sunday I didn't do much and fell asleep in the chair watching TV. I woke up with bad back spasms. By Sunday night I could hardly move. I tried to go to work this morning and came home after a hour and a half. Called my Doctor and they got me in right away. The Doctor put me on a muscle relaxer and told me to put heat on it and not to drive after I took the pill. still waiting for that to kick in. DD1 loved the university and wants to go there. It was a nice school. DD2 has 4 years of high school so she has some time to make up her mind. BF doesn't talk much. If I have to go again we will leave more rested and make more stops. I never did travel well.
  11. As we were looking at hotels she picked the cheapest one. I asked her what kind of reviews it had. 2 saw cockroaches. 4 dirty bathrooms. 1 found chicken bones under the bed. I'm paying for it I get to pick. I will not be that one.
  12. I have Friday off for inventory. DD1 and her BF wanted to go to Evansville to check out the collage there. They want me to take them. DD1 keeps telling me how grown up she is doesn't need me looking after her. She told me BF will help pay for the trip so I told her to make the arrangements. So I asked her what arrangements she had made. She called the collage and made the appointment. What about a hotel I asked? No she wants me to help do that. How much money does she have for the trip? None and BF can go as high as $40.00 I love how grown up 18 year old's are.

    Making Rags

http://hellogiggles.com/diy-t-shirt-scarf My DD2 wants me to make these for her. Ugly ones I make into rags.
  16. That is so cool. I love finding out about historical kitchens
  17. This song has been running through my mind all day. Don't know why I haven't heard it in years. To God be the glory, great things He hath done, So loved He the world that He gave us His Son, Who yielded His life our redemption to win, And opened the life-gate that all may go in. Praise the Lord, praise the Lord, Let the earth hear His voice; Praise the Lord, praise the Lord, Let the people rejoice; Oh, come to the Father, through Jesus the Son, And give Him the glory; great things He hath done.[*]Oh, perfect redemption, the purchase of blood, To every believer the promise of God; The vilest offender who truly believes, That moment from Jesus a pardon receives.[*]Great things He hath taught us, great things He hath done, And great our rejoicing through Jesus the Son; But purer, and higher, and greater will be Our wonder, our transport when Jesus we see. Source: http://www.hymnal.net/hymn.php/h/39#ixzz291t1fKw9 Bright side today is... Snarky co-worker hasn't said anything to us all day today. She was in the wrong. Son 's strain is better today. It happened when he was weight lifting. It could have been a lot worse. Our house is paid off. Money is still very tight but that gives us some breathing room. DH is working on the car problem. I'm trying to view this as a test to our commitment not add new debt to our lives. Yesterday after a hard day at work. I was hit with all these problems within the 1st 15 minutes of getting home.
  18. At work we have a co-worker form another department that comes over and bugs us about getting her parts done. When we tell her we will get to them just as soon as we can she doesn't like our answer. Today she went to our manager which brought our supervisor breathing fire down our necks. We were having enough problems we didn't need her drama. Next time she should make sure of her facts about what time we need to have the parts done by. I hope she enjoyed the nice long talk her very unhappy supervisor had with her. I got home to find Son had strained a muscle in his leg in gym and wanted a heating pad. DH's best friend brought him home because when he was taking DD1 to work something broke on his car. Something about the frame or a spring. The car is not worth fixing. Now we're down to one car. The neighbor girl's mother takes Son to school. When she can't DH takes them to school. The doctor put neighbor girl's mother in the hospital today. Dh has a old car in the garage that needed a head gasket. Its sat so long we're not sure if we can fix that car either. Well at least I'm going to get my garage cleaned out when DH takes the old car to see if it can be fixed.
  19. I put water in the shampoo bottles just to get the last bit out. I hate the shampoo bottles that you can't open the top on.
  20. Yes it was frosty this morning.
  21. Rundgrenfan. Jump in with both feet. My shawls are not going so well. Although I'm still working on my DD2 crocodile shawl. That' going to be heavy beast. Your Christmas village sounds interestring.
  22. So have you turned your furnace on yet? DH is getting our furnace ready to turn on today. So far we have just been using the kerosene heater to take the chill off in the evenings. We got a new carbon monoxide and smoke alarm to put up. I like to replace them every few years. Menard's had fire extinguisher on sale so we replaced those too and while he's in the basement I'll have him replace the battery in the smoke alarm there. Today is my Sunday to make coffee at church and tonight the African Children's Choir is performing. I'm going to put some white chicken chilli in the crock pot. For some reason I seem to have lots of laundry to finish:but as DH keeps telling me it's not like I have to drag it down to the river and beat it on a a rock. It's going to be a busy day. What are you doing today?
  23. For me it's Meijer's. They double the price and then advertize it as a BOGO. I've found some great deals on clothes there but rarely on groceries. I'll only go there if I'm on that side of town for something else. They do seem to always have washing soda and borax in stock which sells out quickly at the Walmart on my side of town.
