  1. I saw this and thought it was excellent, so I wanted to share here. It's not about Corona virus, but just sickness in general. It's a reminder for most, but maybe someone would find it helpful. Before all this was going on, it saddened me to see parents dragging a sick little one around when they should be at home resting. I'm putting the link, but not the article to respect copyright. http://likemotherlikedaughter.org/2015/01/my-secrets-to-taking-common-sense-care-of-your-sick-child-at-home/ One of the things we do differently is for throwing up, we use those little plastic trashcans lined with grocery bags. When DD and I had the flu, I had DH buy a couple more.
  2. They didn't set the amount yet. I don't like the idea of "stimulus checks" at all.
  3. Looks like Lehmans is for now https://www.lehmans.com/blog/dear-friend/#more-34764 Looks like they're out of stock of most lids.
  4. I don't know if you can order online from them (what am I talking about, most places you can order online), but some of the other places that carry jars --Lowes, Tractor Supply, some hardware stores, Giant Eagle even used to carry them last year.
  5. Pittsburgh has a couple cases. 2 in surrounding counties. I would think there's many with it, but undiagnosed. What I've been wondering about is--how long has it been here and we just didn't know about it? Several of us here at MrsS were hit with a nasty flu/crud thing over the winter. Could we have had it then? I don't know, just been thinking.
  6. https://natureswarehouse.net/collections/literature/products/school-of-natural-healing-by-dr-john-r-christopher It's $56.31 here and free shipping. I don't know what edition this is compared to the one Midnightmom linked. And through the school itself, it's $79.95. https://www.christopherpublications.com/SNH.html Looks like there's a deal where it's part of a bundle, too. https://www.christopherpublications.com/snhsyllabus.html
  7. Pennsylvania closed schools for the next 2 weeks.
  8. Hi, Daylily! Nice to see you here again! I hope our country doesn't use the Coronavirus as a reason to trample on the Constitution. People are stupid, but we do NOT want to legislate common sense. There's too much of that going on already (nanny-state). It's too slippery of a slope. THAT being said, that dad sounds either stupid or incredibly selfish and self-centered (I'm guessing the latter). With the lack of testing here for quite some time, should we all assume it's already around in our community? and be avoiding unnecessary outings/events, especially if we are at higher risk?
  9. For those needing to watch their salt intake, remember that baking soda is high in sodium.
  10. A reminder about RX's: Except with certain controlled rx's, You can legally fill all the refills you have left all at once, but you will be paying the actual cost. Your insurance/prescription plan is the one who sets the 30 or 90 day or whatever refill time. You can fill sooner than that, but the insurance/prescription plan does not cover their part. It's something to think about and consider. Very, very expensive for some rx's (my thyroid med is WAY up there...several hundred dollars/90 day supply) and not so bad for others (DH's generic blood pressure med without insurance is under $30/90 day supply).
  11. Is there a way one of the mods can pin that to the top of the subforums?
  12. Isn't garlic an antiviral? I used to know this stuff. Do we know if Tea Tree Oil has any affect for cleaning surfaces for this?
  13. https://www.glennbeck.com/radio/coronavirus-update-march-4th I'm looking at the nice list of info here. It's easier for me to figure out than listen to and read stuff right now. Disturbing: Mutation: There May Be Two Distinct Strains of SARS-CoV-2, One More Deadly
  14. With the other health stuff I have going on, DD and I have been mostly home this winter, except for medical stuff. I'm actually starting to get some cabin fever, but have been either too weak or sick to go anywhere.
  15. https://www.glennbeck.com/radio/march-3rd-coronavirus-update-the-trump-response Part that stuck out to me: "We're Past Containment Phase", moving into Mitigation Phase, which means Social Distancing, Working from Home, and Possible School Closures
  16. https://www.glennbeck.com/blog/coronavirus-update-monday-march-2nd I like the chart showing how it compares to the regular flu. Is this some of the info MtRider was looking for?
  17. DD and I are sick again. I thought we were past the flu we had at the end of Jan/beginning of Feb, just not feeling 100% yet. This past week has been very stressful and no one here has been sleeping well. Last night, whatever this crud is hit us both. I didn't think we'd come down with something again already.
  18. Littlesister, I agree. I'll take it a step further: In my area, our electric mostly comes from coal-fired power plants. Think just some of the people to get the coal to the power plant: the coal miners, truck drivers, crane operators, towboat crews, lock and dam personel, ect. And all those people need fuel and supplies to operate.
  19. I'm sorry to hear that! I hope Lori knows she is welcome to join us here anytime.
  20. My old, old, little house, too. I'd add 2 things to the list that we all probably have. Salt and Vaseline. I used both with the flu recently. Noses get raw and sore quickly; Vaseline helps that! I cannot have any kind of OTC cold/flu meds or even honey. So I gargle with salt water. But it helps a sore throat. Do people still do that? It was one of my mom's go-to home remedies when I was growing up.
  21. Mt Rider, when you move out of there, are you going to leave a binder of instructions for the next people?
