  1. Annarchy, I know Sometimes I wonder if all the scented laundry products are to cover up that, due to govt regulations on the washer manufacturers, washers just don't actually "clean" anymore. And the scented stuff is to cover up the smell of clothing not actually being clean. My washer is finally, thankfully (Praise the Lord!) repaired. More $ put into it than the cost of the washer 6 years ago, but Speed Queen no longer makes this model and I'm holding onto it! If you had that nasty stuff built up in the fabric softener dispenser, you might at some point want to look under the agitator if you can. I clean the column of the agitator where the stuff builds up, but I was suprised how much had built up under the agitator. Little Sister, you probably want to look into having your locks changed.
  2. We didn't have a choice with the smart meter, unless we chose to no longer have electric.
  3. They go in the pot when I'm making bone broth or chicken broth. Does anyone else save parsley stems for broth/stock? Whenever I'm dehydrating parsley (from our garden) I put the stems in with broth as well.
  4. He is risen! Happy Easter!
  5. Miki, I hope things go well for Peanut.
  6. They are under someone's deck or porch! DD and I like watching. The sound that sounds like a car trying to start is the sound the cubs make when they are nursing.
  7. Jeepers, this will give you something new to watch... https://hdontap.com/index.php/video/stream/pennsylvania-bear-den-live-cam There's 2 cubs!!
  8. Jeepers, . At least there is a plan in the works and things are finally moving along. Is that mold in the basement or just staining along the bottom of the wall?
  9. Congratulations, Little Sister! I'm glad things are finally starting to come along with your house, Jeepers.
  10. Miki, for your DH. Ann, congratulations on the washer!
  11. Jeepers, try bathing with baking soda mixed in/dissolved in the water. That is usually used to be fairly inexpensive and widely available. Warm water, but not hot. Don't be shy about dumping alot of baking soda into the tub water. It is just baking soda, so if it doesn't help, it shouldn't make things worse. My hospital system has my allergies listed in my records AND they slap the red allergy bracelet on me. However, they ignore both.
  12. I reminded DH to buy postage stamps this week, as stamps are going from $0.60 to $0.63 this weekend (I think it is this weekend). edited to add: It is this weekend; not sure if it is Sat. or Sun.
  13. Miki, backstraps are my favorite! Jeepers, I'm continuing to pray for you! I'm thankful that God is sending encouraging, like-minded people in your path. I hope things go well with the new doc.
  14. euphrasyne, all goes well with your surgery and recovery.
  15. MtRider, our pellet stove is over 15 years old, and DH has changed the blower motors on it several times. It has thankfully been awhile, but they are expensive to replace (last time was a couple hundred $). Our pellet stove has a blower that blows the heat into the room and then a blower that sucks the smoke outside..exhaust blower, I think. Always interesting with the exhaust one quits and it suddenly is smoking. The worst is when we loose electricity and it starts smoking, and having to quickly open windows (always on an icy cold day) to get the smoke out of the house. There was a newer pellet stove brand that had a battery backup pack to prevent that. Our home owners ins. does not allow regular wood stoves. I'd rather have one of those as to not depend on electric, but not feasible while we are living here. We have a furnace, but the pellet stove heats this old house better (unless it is really cold and we have to run both) and I like the "warmth" of the heat.
