  1. Howdy! How's everyone this morning? I feel a bit draggy. I didn't HAVE to get up early this morning but my internal clock doesn't like me to sleep past 6am. Oh well. Have a lovely day, mommafiz
  2. Buttercup, bless your sweet heart for such a nice post! Welcome to our home!!!
  3. Okay ladies. I have pulled all my lettuce and radishes from the raised beds. They were delicious! Thanks for sharing, mommafitz
  4. Mornin'! I'm just doing a quick check in for the day. I have lots of work to do today. Young ds spent the night with his friend and they will be bringing him home this morning. I'm expecting the telephone repairman to be here to repair the business line. Hubby worked last night so he's trying to sleep today. In the meantime, I have phone calls to make for work. Should be an interesting day. mommafitz
  5. Dee, it seems that you and I had the same responses with the Arly Hanks/Claire Malloy series! mommafitz
  6. Good morning, folks! I hope this morning brings the promise of a good week to everyone. Sorry I didn't post over the weekend but I was a bit busy. Hubby was off this weekend so when I got home from work, we took sandwich fixings for supper and rode around looking at property. Yound ds went with us. We had a nice ride but didn't really see anything we were interested in calling about. I visited with my mom and brother on the phone Sunday. Food, frolicking, fireworks, and fun will abound I'm sure. We take a covered dish and lawn chairs. They'll supply the meats and drinks. Hubby has to work but thinks he can take a supper break and drop in. I think I'll take a jug of sweet tea, a simple dessert, and a veggie dish of some kind. Any ideas? Others will bring potato salad, green beans, that type of thing. I'd like to take something different. What are your plans for the 4th? Have a lovely day everyone! mommafiz
  7. I am reading M.C.Beaton's latest Hamish Macbeth murder mystery-"Death of a Poison Pen". I am also reading the Miss Julia series by Ann B. Ross. Joan Hess has 2 different series of mysteries - Policewoman Arly Hanks that lives in Maggody and another one with a female heroine. I can't remember her name because I haven't really gotten into that set yet. I'm sure I'll like them but I'm not too crazy about the first one I've started. All of these are light reading which I seem to prefer right now. Also, I have dug out my canning books and am reading a book on parakeets. So......Yep, I'm still doing my share of reading! mommafitz

    I am moving

Congratulations! Sounds wonderful! Moving is very stressful so try to take a few moments to regroup if you start to feel like murdering someone!!! mommafitz
  9. Interesting story hillbillee. I understand where there would be a problem with this situation. The place we're renting now is beginning to be a problem. The landlords have no respect for our privacy. We are very private people. They are nice and mean well but it is slowly driving us crazy. By the end of the summer, we will have a Brother to one side and a Sister behind us. The landlords are subdividing it amongst family. The lure of the 5 acres and the promised solitude that brought us here will be gone soon. We will have only a small yard. We've decide a mobile home on some land is what we're shooting for. I would be happy with only 1 acre if need be! Thanks for the ideas and encouragment! mommafitz
  10. (This cake is yummy. After finding the recipe in a magazine, I made it for Father's day. Keep it in the refrigerator . That makes it good for summer......) Chocolate Cookie Cake 1 package white cake mix 16 cream-filled chocolate sandwich cookies, coarsely crushed 1 package (3 oz) cream cheese, softened 2 teaspoons milk 2 cups heavy whipping cream 3/4 cup confectioners' sugar Additional cream-filled chocolate sandwich cookie Prepare cake batter according to package directions: stir in crushed cookies. Spoon into a greased and floured 10 in. fluted tube pan (I used a Bundt cake pan). Bake at 350 for 33-38 minutes or until toothpick inserted near the center comes out clean. Cool for 10 minutes before removing from pan to a wire rack to cool completely. In a small mixing bowl, beat cream cheese and milk until smooth. Beat in cream until mixture begins to thicken. Add confectioners' sugar; beat until stiff peaks form. Frost cake. Garnish with additional cookies. Refrigerate leftovers. Yield: 12-16 servings. mommafitz

  12. Mornin! We awoke to rain this morning. Another wet day. Good thing I like rain. Thank you ladies for wishing me a better day yesterday than Monday. It worked. It was really nice to get back on my regular schedule. Hubby has inservice training all week so he is home in the evenings every night. This is a welcome change since he works nights and has a weird schedule anyway. We'll get to cuddle on the couch every night after supper. Have a lovely wet day everyone!!! mommafitz
  13. Mornin'! I hope everybody is doing well today. I'm not. I didn't have a good day yesterday and I feel draggy and depressed this morning. blah. We really need some stormy weather. *PLEASE INSERT SARCASM HERE.* mommafitz
  14. Mornin' all! I'm sure glad today is my last day of vacation fill in at work for a few weeks. I am so behind on my own responsibilities at work that it will take me 2 weeks to catch up. Also, I'm just plain pooped. Working 6 days a week is getting old fast. I don't have enough down time.

  18. I agree with the other posters. I firmly believe one can recover faster at home. I am glad to hear he's gonna be okay. Be sure and take care of yourself MM. Caregiving is a tedious job-even when it's someone we care deeply for. If anyone offers to help, please take it. I'll keep you and your family in my prayers. Take care. mommafitz
  19. terri, I want to apologize for not welcoming you here before now. mommafitz
  20. Howdo ya'll! Have some coffee. I made it fresh just a few minutes ago. Have a cinnamon muffin. I don't like raisins so I didn't put them in....snicker...... mommafitz
  21. My family doesn't care for ground turkey. I wish they did cuz that price can't be beat! A friend gave us some ground venison. I've been using it a lot since it helps stretch the grocery money. We love deer but they aren't real crazy about this ground stuff. Dern picky eaters!!!!! mommafitz
