  1. This year I did a lot of black Friday deals and Cyber Monday deals. I don't usually do those either, but the prices were too good to pass up for what everyone wanted. I think everything I got was half price or less. Still need to call Safeway in Washington State to order a gift card. DGD's DH is not looking very hard for a job since he decided he was disabled (yeah right) and doesn't want to work. Lazy is more like it. So, she is trying to support both of them on her salary. Money for them is very tight right now. She is trying to learn to make bread but has trouble kneading the dough. So, I bought her a dough maker with a Ferment function also. Then my other DGD wanted one and then my DD wanted one. So, I ordered 3 of them. I had to laugh and said I am the one with bad painful hands and all of you want one. So, guess what my DD is giving me for Christmas? I already had ordered 3 of them. Dinner is in the oven. So, I am free to go for now. My arm and shoulder are killing me for some reason. Might use heating pad in a while. Till then I will survive.
  2. Necie, Since DH passed it is not like it used to be for me. But the kids still want me to decorate, and I still need to Christmas shop. The shopping is almost done but when it all comes in, I need to get it all wrapped. I try to use gift bags where I can because my hands and wrapping paper don't mix any longer. Old Arther says not today. My hands right now are very stiff. And I still need to finish up what I was doing this morning. Needed a coffee break. Need to get a baby gift over to my DGD for the baby. It's from DH's cousin and his wife. Going to get really busy again around here soon. Lots to get done other than just Christmas.
  3. GS ate the leftovers last night late. So, we cheated and went to Arby's for dinner tonight.
  4. Finished up my Christmas shopping except for a couple of gift cards. I will pick those up at store on Thursday. Tomorrow I will finish the Christmas cards. My DH's cousin and his wife came over to give me a gift for the baby. So, need to get that to GD. Took GS after he got back from the doctor to dinner and then we went shopping for a couple of things. Yep, never go shopping with GS. He hates shopping and just moped around the stores. We only went to 2 of them. Will leave him home next time but wanted to get him out of house for a bit. It's good for him. He did help me pick out some baby clothes though. Tomorrow is house cleaning day. I need to mop floors and clean bathrooms. Got the laundry done. So that is out of the way. Need to stick around the house for a while as packages will be coming from 3 different stores. People are already complaining of porch pirates. Hasn't happened here in my neighborhood yet but there is a first time for everything. Got lucky on Black Friday and today on Cyber Monday. One store had a clearance on baby clothes, and I got extra off on top of that being it is cyber-Monday.
  5. Those are funny. That is some tough navagation.
  6. Homesteader, due to the high price of ammo, there will be no warning shots. Happy Birthday. Was doing some cyber shopping on internet for Christmas gifts. Still not done but got GS's finished today. At least the rest will be easy. For a baby it's really easy. She is 6 weeks old today so clothes and diapers and some toys for her age. If I can find something in the toy line near time for her to play with. She has rattles so not wanting to go that route right now. Washed clothes this morning and working on living room to start decorating. Will be putting the wreath on front door in a while.
  7. Yep, you hit the save button like I do by accident. Jeepers, so glad you made it home safe and that you were able to get a lot done. Hope your Thanksgiving was full of fun and memories. I just finished a partway deep clean on the kitchen. I really need to get kitchen cabinets cleaned out. It has been a long while since I did that. I had emptied the bottom cabinets for the remodel but not the top ones. So, time to clean all that up. There are some things I want to move from top cabinets to a bottom cabinet to make it easier for me to reach without having to climb up on a stool to reach it. I can reach the bottom shelves and the front part of the second shelve but then need the step stool to reach further back and the top shelves as well. I am fixing to move GS's mess to his car soon. He is starting to leave his clothes everywhere and my living room is not it. He is living in his car but comes into shower, eat and wash clothes. But now he's getting messy again. Time to real him in again. My retirement money that I have moved around should be hitting my bank soon. Once that is done, I Have 3 things I need to get done. One is the garage sink, check back on the well pump I trying to get so that can be set up like I want and get the front door repaired. Will be taking cash out as well but have to do that a little at a time. Just took some out not to long ago. Also, will be putting car in shop to have it serviced. It is coming up on the 50,000-mile check soon. After that I will just wait on everything else that I need to get done. But those are the main things.
  8. Went to Church this morning and we now have the youngest new deacon. He was ordained into the church as a deacon this morning. He is 22 years old and a good kid. I think he will do well in life. Came home to meet GS at door. Ready to come in for breakfast and coffee. Which he would get his act together. He also is now 22 years old and no responsibility for nothing. But on the good side at least he now has a job.
  9. Miki, you can use a dog cage or keep kitty locked in a room till time to take the tree down. I don't know any other solution. You can also put kitty outside till the holidays are over, but it might be getting too cold for her to be outside too long. Other than that, they do have those sprays to keep dogs off of things but not sure if it will work for the cat. Lots of chew toys around and spankings for sure.
  10. Annarchy, glad you are now home safe and sound. We had those hard winds last night. It was brutal. Wow! 78* in house is hot. I have mine on 67 right now, trying to get used to it and once that happens, I will put it down to 66* I want to try to keep it at 65* if I can. But will see what happens. But I will also have the wood stove going as well.
  11. Well, I missed this but glad everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving. I had a great time at my DGD's house. Lots to eat and GS is fussing because he didn't get any sweet potato casserole to bring home. But then he didn't ask for any. Maybe I will get the energy to make a small one just for him.
  12. Will be starting to decorate house on Monday. Monday, I think is also Cyber Monday so will be checking out Christmas gifts. GS wants a set of books that I am looking for. Don't think they are sold as a set yet. So will see what I can get. At least it would be a start and can be added on to over time. Got supper done and kitchen cleaned up so just relaxing right now. Got bills paid and sent out a Birthday card for SGD in CA. One of my credit cards is loaded with points so might use those for some Christmas gifts as well. need to use them at some point so this would be a good time. That would be great for gift cards. Miki, I like the tree. My cats would never mess with the tree but would crawl under it to take a nap. The dogs never went around it. So, we had no issues with the pets.
  13. Getting things together to start decorating. I have everything sitting in the Livingroom right now. Now I am just sitting here looking at my sewing machine and wondering when I am going to finish the bathroom curtains. That has to get done. Sat down this morning and paid bills so that is out of the way. Fixed turkey bacon and eggs for breakfast this morning then cleaned up kitchen. Went through my seeds to see what I have as I have ordered me a Christmas present. 3 raised garden beds on the black Friday sales. That along with doing the plastic tubs in the old lawn chairs will help with Rabbit issues. Don't know why I feel a rush to get things done. But something deep down keeps telling me to getter done now. So, working on it as best I can.
  14. I have no leftovers as my DGD kept all the leftovers at her house to eat on. With a baby that fights sleep, I can't blame her. Just heat and serve for at least a couple of days. Tonight, I will cook minute stake with onions, potatoes and gravy, green beans, and not sure what else yet.
  15. Been doing some housecleaning and did a bit of Christmas shopping. So got some of that off my list. Still a bit more to get done but not too bad this year. Trying to get things everyone can actually use. Gift cards for grocery stores. Diapers for the baby as well as clothes to grow into. And I am coming out cheaper this year. Hitting some heaty sells.
  16. My GD's DH hates sweet potatoes. GD got him to try the sweet potato casserole tonight when she was heating up leftovers. He likes it. Wouldn't try it before. So she said rats now she has to share.
  17. All went well for us for Thanksgiving. Though I do miss my other grandchildren that can't be here with us. My 2 step Grandchildren and 1 other grandchild. I was able to talk with the 2 girls yesterday, but SGS is overseas and cannot be contacted at this time. We have to wait till he can contact us. Hopefully that will be sometime soon. Today I am just relaxing a bit. Going to start getting ready to decorate some for Christmas. It won't be much because I will be in NC for Christmas. Waiting to find out what DD's working days off will be. She works from home. So that helps. DGD is thinking about starting back to work part time to start. She also works from home but she's worried about the baby fighting sleep. When she does that, she just cries. So, I may be spending a lot of time at her house at least till the baby gets out of this stage. Yes, she fought sleep during dinner and GD had to hold her while she ate her dinner. Yep, I remember those days well. But she did fall asleep at least for an hour.
  18. Just got home about an hour ago from DGD's house. DD and SIL left for NC shortly after I did. Grand SIL made a chicken and sausage gumbo that was really good but too much spice for me. I can't handle the spice anymore. Like Dee said, 20 years ago that would be great. Grand SIL's parents bought a ham and mashed potatoes but made up like twice baked potatoes and deserts. I took the green beans and sweet potato casserole. DD bought a cranberry salad, rolls and the plates and plastic silverware. There was a lot of food, and everyone bought something to DGD's house. 9 people there. We all had a great time. Even the dogs. Yep, I missed the turkey. Some of them don't eat turkey and they wanted a nontraditional Thanksgiving dinner, but all was really good.
  19. Got the car packed and ready to head out to DGD's house shortly. Just waiting for the sweet potato casserole to come out of oven so it will be hot when I get to GD's house. Green beans are hot and, in a container, to keep them hot. Just need to put it all in car and go. Waiting on GS now to get it together so we can leave soon. Hope everyone has a wonderful Thanksgiving and just enjoy family and friends. and all around.
  20. Hope everyone has a blessed and wonderful Thanksgiving. If you are traveling stay safe. Will be heading to DGD's house in the morning.
  21. Five inches of rain is a lot. Glad no flooding happened. We had a hard rain last night but haven't heard anything on how much. Rained most of the night and looking like rain now. Very cloudy. It might be drizzling now but from the window it is hard to tell. I do know it is cold today. Time to light the wood stove.
  22. A bit busy for me this morning. Snapped green beans this morning as I decided to get fresh ones for Thanksgiving. Will be making the sweet potato casserole in a bit. Yeah, I needed coffee and a break. My hands are freezing for some reason. Thinking of making brownies or something also. Will check my pantry for something for a desert. Though there will be cheesecake also. Mt. Rider, I am glad you didn't get hurt from that fall though I am sure you are a bit sore. Be careful out there. Miki, I am so glad your DH is doing so much better now. I am sure he will continue to improve as time goes by.
  23. Left from DGD's house a little after 3. GD got her cheesecake made and did some house cleaning. She made the cheesecake from scratch. The baby was a bit fussy as she will fight sleep to no end. But I got her quieted down and asleep. Though my Grand dog wasn't going to have any part of me coming between her and the baby. She needed her attention also. So, she had to go in her cage for a while. We let her out of the cage later and she was much better behaved. Yes, she got her attention also. Spoiled dog and spoiled grandchild. What can you say. Came home and did a bit of work around the house and tomorrow I will be busy making what I need to take to GD's house for Thanksgiving. Finally got hold of Anderson windows and they will be calling me to set up appointment after the windows arrive. Then that job will be done. I really need to get windows washed but at the rate I am going it might be in the spring before that job gets started.
  24. We have had rain off and on all day. So, guess this could be part of that system. Not that we didn't need some rain, but it could have waited till after Thanksgiving. With people traveling for the holidays and such bad weather is definitely something we don't need.
  25. euphrasyne, that is terrible to lose a job over a license. All I know is that back in the day my grandfather and uncles did not need a license to hunt as long as it was on their own property. That was many years ago outside of Lynchburg. After my DH turned, I think it was 70 they told him he didn't need a license to fish as he was over 70. He was told that when he went to buy a fishing license years ago.
