  1. I hope it's a quick (and inexpensive!) fix for you.
  2. Wait ... do you get to pay for everyone's dinner too? Kids. I'd counter-offer ... you and dh go to Olive Garden, and bring take out back for the kids
  3. I love how fast they ship. I didn't get meat this time (holding out for the 15 or 20% for the pricier stuff), but I got pineapple and banana, corn meal. Venturing out for something new, I also got a can of their powedered pudding, and some of the quick cook beans (I caved and got two cans of those, to supplement the ones I've been trying to do myself). I wanted to try the mango, but they were out of stock when I placed my order -- maybe next time
  4. we're supposed to get some wintery mix weather tomorrow -- I tried watching our local news, but the guy on during the day is more theatrical than informative, lol. I sat here afterward wondering, sooo what's the weather supposed to be. I opted to just read the forecast on their website. today was my ironing day. later I am going to give making empanadas a try. yesterday I made flour tortillas and aside from their weird shapes (couldn't roll them in to a circle) they were pretty tasty!
  5. Today is cleaning and laundry, then later on this evening, there's a class that I signed myself and ds up for in a nearby town - he's balking about going, and we're both not feeling that dandy today, but we're supposed to be meeting others there, so I am set on our going (it will hopefully be beneficial for us both, it's a class on eating better, healthy options and such, one night a week for 4 weeks).
  6. http://www.naturalnews.com/039151_Connecticut_mental_health_checks_homeschoolers.html doesn't surprise me, really, but sad sign of the times nonetheless puzzling as to why the private school kids would be exempt ...
  7. That's scary, and here I thought we were safer using them as opposed to the other types. I've never had one shatter, but surely don't want to experience it. Quality in things is downhill -- same with the Pyrex, now the bluish tinted stuff is out, and it's (imo) inferior to the really old stuff I had. Regular drinking glasses I bought though have been breaking, cracking, and chipping like crazy. I guess nothing is made to last anymore. Shattering plates are just plain dangerous, not only a pain to deal with like the glasses.
  8. thoughts and prayers are with you tonight as you go to your meeting (((((((gofish)))))))
  9. He is clever, I don't think most would have thought of that (sure know I'd have been at a loss). I can't even begin to imagine the inflated price the dealership would have charged for the bushings had they been in stock -- I am sure it was a substantial savings with the prices they charge. I guess in a way it was a hidden blessing they didn't have them after all -- you still got what you needed but saved money in the process.
  10. I hope you all had a lovely Valentine's Day --- and that when you return home that you and your husband have an extra special belated Valentine's Day, Annarchy editted -- to put correct smilie
  11. overhead painting and caulking ... Mtn Man will surely need those massages Hopefully the next two that he has won't have similar collapsing issues -- that had to put a startle in to you both!
  12. AH, could this possibly be it? Sofrito: http://latinfood.about.com/od/seasoningmarinade/r/sofrito.htm When I did a search it shows sofrito is used in some meatloaf recipes, so it got me thinking it may be it -- kind of sounds similar.
  13. I love her videos, they are very informative and she seems to genuinely care about others.
  14. Have a safe trip to and from Texas, Annarchy. A garden sounds good, esp this time of year in my part of the country, lovely thoughts of spring My plans are some of the usual, cleaning, laundry, babysitting, trying to spark ds's interest in his school work (getting sooooo much harder as he gets older -- he just turned 17 earlier this month). I am excited too that I may be able to finally finish a crochet baby blanket I started -- I read that the size should be 36 inches by 36 inches, but I am almost out of the yarn I was using (it's older yarn that I don't believe is sold any longer so I can't run out for another skein), so it may only end up being 34-ish (and with no trim). Not sure if I should be this excited given those realities, but I still am LOL.

    Snow Plows

LOL, didn't see that ending coming
  16. Conserving more (money and other items) is something I think everyone could benefit from, esp. these days. I've been a bit frugal since I was little, being poor taught me to conserve because who knew when something would come around again -- not hoarding, just simply being careful with what we did have. People wasting (esp. money) made me nervous even as a kid -- still does. It's interesting to see how even those who grew up in the same family have differing outlooks -- I am a saver and frugal, my brother is a spender (married to a spender as well) but he does seem to give some thought to the future (paying down debt and such-- probably because surprise injury and illness popped up a few times for him), and my sister is spend, spend, spend , with no thought to the end of the month no less farther in to the future than that.
  17. I love getting the flour from the LDS site -- already canned up for me, no messing with mylar or such with it. I've gotten flour, wheat berries, and rice from them. Very good prices, free shipping -- I'm sold I don't do my own because I don't have a #10 can sealer -- they're pricy buggers (as in thousand+). There may not necessarily be a lack of them in the English world, but they're surely out of my price range LOL. Our closest LDS cannery is something like 6 or 7 hours away -- not within a realistic drive for us. Though I wish there was one closer. Or even an LDS ward that shared their canner -- no luck with that in my area either
  18. Happy belated Birthday to your husband, and belated Happy Anniversary to both you and Mr. TMC
