  1. I love perbain and Imstillworkin too (have you seen her videos on doughnuts ... )
  2. super cute I love the one with the mosquitos coming after them with flashlights LOL
  3. I figured i'd check out a lady's YouTube channel - she does a lot with the LDS cannery (somewhere in the south). Anyway, about 4 hours ago she posted a video on this topic. According to her, it's effective July 1, 2013 - no more canning in the east, but that you can still buy the pre-canned items or the supplies and borrow the manual canner (depending on individual cannery policy). She did mention too that she believes it's eventually going to happen with *all* of the canneries.
  4. are they closing to everyone, or just non-members?
  5. Talk about false advertising! Looking at the cover of the book, it appears to be sort of like Chef Tess's meals in a jar/bag, so it seems like intentional misleading, esp. with the pics and the just add water claims. If you've got to do all of that other stuff, then it's far from being a just add water deal Is the cheese canning suggestion even safe Thanks for sharing your experience with it, Jeepers, based on the pic and description, I can see it being something I'd have purchased ... and ended up wasting my money on. It's good that you found it at the library so you didn't waste that money. btw, is a retort bag like mylar?
  6. that's an unusual thing to see, I'd have thought he got caught in the rain, but if the dog had a raincoat, it sounds like a planned trip. kinda sounds unsafe too, esp. in a downpour
  7. Happy Birthday, MomM and GoatLady!!!
  8. thanks you for everything, Ann
  9. Monsanto is a scary entity -- even scarier (to me) is how many Monsanto higher ups end up in top positions of the FDA and EPA. No conflict of interest there

  11. April 21 - 27th jogging (at a snail's pace) = 23.5 miles I didn't do anything on the 27th, and fell short of my goal on the 21st. Still, I figure it's a lot closer than I'd be logging from my couch lol. I wish I had the kind of exercise bike I used to have a couple years ago, that was terrific, it just fit my stature perfectly and it didn't bother my back at all (even though it didn't have one of those back supports). I could go and go on that, esp. while watching tv. But it broke. and they apparently don't make that particluar one anymore. (It was only in the ballpark of $70 too!). Now the others are a lot pricier, and the newest one we got hurts my back a lot (which is weird, because this one has the back support -- I think it's just how everything is positioned, it doesn't work with my body type). Anway -- if rambling burned calories, I'd be rail thin
  12. I am so sorry for your loss ((((((()))))))
  13. Glad you had such a good day, gofish I keep thinking of that snowman pic you posted LOL, and I am so happy he's melted away (hopefully for good .. well until next winter at least).
  14. That sounds like a good plan, Momma, esp. with the way things are these days with prices and all of the uncertainty. Plus, you can always go back to staying at home when you have things in order the way you feel comfortable with them being.
  15. browsing around I saw that she's in the plans of writing a canning book ... yikes. Maybe the publisher would need to have some sort of liability coverage ... I'd sure hate to be the company backing that policy -- or worse, the unsuspecting people using those recipes. she's got 40,000+ likes on Facebook -- that's an awful lot of people getting dangerous guidance ...
  16. What a scary, nerve-racking trip, Ann! Glad that you made it okay! No snow, but still chilly. That one week with a couple nice days was just a tease it seems. My miles for 14-20th = 19 miles (slowly jogging). Not quite my goal of 4 miles/day, but getting closer
  17. :cheer: That's great the plateau is over Hmmm...I think I need to find a calculator online to figure out my target heart rate. I've been keeping track of it, but have no clue what the target rate is.
