Grubby
This is the first time I canned tomato juice. My question is about seperation.... After the jars came out of the canner they were fine but then they started to seperate between pulp and tomato water. Is it ok that this happens? Link to comment

Dee
Shawna's right, it's just the way it does. If I'm cooking something I don't want real watery I'll pour a lot of that top watery stuff off and just use the bottom tomato part. I suppose I'm getting rid of good nutritional "stuff" but somedays I'm in a hurry and it's too convenient not to do it. Link to comment

Cat
Grubby, it's fine. If it bothers you, give it a shake after they're fully cooled (next day) and see if it settles differently. Link to comment

Necie
Well, *I* think that it was one extremely intelligent woman that started that 'superstition'. Who wants to can when they're grumpy, crampin', and bloated?! AND craving CHOCOLATE--not slimey red tomatoes! "Nope, Honey, I CAN'T can tomatoes this week. I'm having my monthly and Great-Grandma (who was probably deceased and couldn't be questioned ) always said that if you can when on your monthly it'll ruin the whole batch." Link to comment
