Grubby
I was watching Martha and she was talking about all-purpose flour being hard to find in the grocery stores. I didn't think anything about it. I went to buy all-purpose flour and they were stocking a lot more self-rising! Will they stop selling it altogether? I'm not fond of 100% whole wheat. My preference is 3/4 white to 1/4 wheat. What are people using self-rising for? Biscuits? Anything else? Has anyone else noticed this change? Link to comment
MommyofSeven
No, but I am planning a huge shopping trip tomorrow so will let you know. That blows, I hate self rising. Hard to use in cakes and breads and such, I think. Mo7 Link to comment
Jewlzm
I dont seem to have to much of a problem here finding all purpose flour. Maybe that will change soon...hmm another thing to get bigger stocks of. Link to comment
Schoolmarm
I am not having any problems as of yet. Maybe I need to get some more as well. Link to comment
Grubby
Two weeks ago.... self-rising had a row and all-purpose had a whole shelf. now.... it's just the opposite and they have changed their labels. (I shop Save-A-Lot) When I buy flour I buy six at a time. I don't usually make a dent in their flour but this time I took 1/2 of their stock! Link to comment
Jewlzm
I really hope that isnt going to be the trend. I dont really care for self rising flour. I used to shop at Save A Lot when I was in Clarksville/Ft.Campbell area. Couldnt beat their prices. Link to comment
MommyofSeven
OK...a/p and s/r were about normal, although s/r seemed to have a bit more space than normal. There was, however, NO whole wheat flour. Not even space on a shelf where it should have been. Looks like they're not carrying that at all. Mo7 Link to comment
Snowmom
We just bought some all purpose at Sam's a few weeks ago when we were in Fargo. I haven't checked at the local stores. Link to comment
Darlene
I just looked in my grocery store and they had the usual amounts...perhaps it was a shipping delay or something... I am buying less and less commercial flour and grinding more and more of my own. I'm doing all my desserts (cookies, etc) with soft white wheat freshly ground and lemme tell you, there is a definite taste and texture difference that makes you appreciate the wholesomeness and healthy aspects of it.
