Midnightmom
 Thanksgiving Day was a wonderful holiday with my son, my daughter, and my dog. 😉🥰 I spent most of the day in the kitchen (of course) so I didn't take any pics of my own, but I have gathered together all of the pics they took and am posting them here. The menu was.......................................  Appetizers: Popcorn (store bought and brought by Kevin)   Spinach dip on toasted Italian bread     Bacon-wrapped creamcheese-stuffed jalapenos  Main "event:" Turkey clubs on croissants - turkey, lettuce, tomato, bacon, Swiss cheese     Potato salad and Apple "Waldorf" salad (apples, walnuts, cranberries, yogurt dressing)  "Deviled" eggs / ~Cranberry "jello"   Full plates:     I cooked a 25 pound turkey in TWO HOURS!       Jen thought it couldn't be done but Kevin knew better. She was also amazed at how moist the white meat was. 😋  Of course I also baked some pumpkin pies and a couple of loaves of pumpkin bread! They each went home with leftovers and a loaf of pumpkin bread. (Kevin's had chocolate chips in his.)   Kevin also got to take the pumpkin pies with him as his drive wasn't nearly as long as Jennifer's.          Edited November 30, 2021 by Midnightmom 7 Quote Link to comment

euphrasyne
That looks amazing.  We did a slightly smaller meal since there were so few of us this year.  I had a lot of help preparing it though. The baby likes sausage balls. Go figure.  5 Quote Link to comment

Littlesister
My trip to DD house for Thanksgiving was great. I didn't have to cook for the first time ever. Only had to make the sweet potato casserole at GD's request. DD cooked turkey and ham, mashed potatoes, green beans and so much more. It was all really good.  It was also a moving day for GD and her DH as they were moving in with me the weekend after Thanksgiving. We got back home Sunday. We had a great time. And now all those pictures of food makes me want to have another Thanksgiving dinner. Those pictures look great Euphrasyne, the baby is growing fast. She is so cute. They grow up to fast. 2 Quote Link to comment
Midnightmom
 @euphrasyne   I hope you didn't get as much kick-back for setting such a pretty table as Jason's mom did! 2 Quote Link to comment
Midnightmom
Â I've discovered a new side dish that I think I am going to make for Christmas dinner. Don't these look YUMMY??? You are supposed to roast them on a rack (as pictured) so they get crisp & crunchy. But that's not the whole recipe. You are supposed to sprinkle them with brown sugar (Swerve)!!! euphrasyne
We don't do fancy often, so my family likes it. DD13 was in charge of setting the table however she wanted. This is what she decided on XD  Those green beans look great.  I do something similar with asparagus.  Wrap bundles of asparagus in bacon then top with garlic, brown sugar, and soy sauce. Bake for about 20m. I cheat and use bottled teriyaki sometimes instead of making it. Even DD13 will eat asparagus that way.  Quote Link to comment
Jeepers
G'son set our T'giving table this year. They taught them in pre-school last year all about setting a table. It was...interesting. A paper napkin was spread out under each plate like a placemat. Some of us (me) got one of those little child size forks to eat with. It was like eating with one of those three pronged pickle forks. LOL. DIL offered to replace it. I declined. It was set with love.     Actually, I figured he was hinting at portion control for the old gramster.   DIL cooked the turkey in one of those electric roaster pan things. It was so good and kept the house from heating up from the oven. She kept waiting and waiting for the popper to pop. Turned out there wasn't a popper in it. It was a Butterball? After it cooked she covered it with foil for about a half an hour. It was so tender that all of the meat fell off of the bones. All of it! Even the meat on the legs. The breast bone just lifted right out. I told her she was lucky she got one of those pre-carved birds. 2 1 Quote Link to comment

Mt_Rider
I remember that from 4-H, Midnight.    Well our family decided a couple years ago to go with as few dishes on the BIG meals as possible. We do use real plates/not paper. But we serve right out of the pots on the stove. A few things like pickles/olives on the table. We're all too old to spend a lot of time washing dishes.  This year DH washed while my mom and I completed the pumpkin pies.  MtRider ..... Jeepers
That placement chart would not have helped us at all. We didn't have cake. We had pie. No pie fork. What would we have done!? 3 Quote Link to comment
