  1. I use the Instant Pot quite a bit. I always worry about getting the ones that just go on the stove because I'm notorious for getting distracted while cooking and worry that I'll end up building up enough pressure for them to blow. We do, however, need to go through and purge the kitchen. That's going to take quite a bit of time, as I looooove kitchen gadgets. One of my favorite stores ever is Der Kuchen Laden in Fredericksburg, TX, where they have all sorts of nifty contraptions.
  2. You want some real fun, look up Lake Peigneur Mining Disaster on Youtube. This one shows a bit of that mine and how it all works. They basically drill the shaft down some ways away, then go sideways.
  3. Weird, because I heard the opposite. That those who got the early flu in the spring were infected at a lower rate and generally fought it off better. Guess I better read the books again.
  4. Do any of y'all read stuff from Dr. Andrew Saul? He wrote Doctor Yourself and a few other things in the orthomolecular (read: megadoses of vitamins) realm. He has some interesting stuff up for Coronavirus. He's posted on Facebook that there are doctors working in China with the WHO on using vitamin C against Coronavirus. http://orthomolecular.org/resources/omns/v16n06.shtml http://orthomolecular.org/resources/omns/v16n04.shtml
  5. So, if I remember correctly, you wouldn't use elderberry for the Spanish Flu because the cytokine storm set off by the flu was basically your immune system on overdrive, and THAT was what caused the liquid pooling in the lungs and hemorrhages. Anybody else remember hearing that anywhere?
  6. I would be interested in knowing what their normal operations are, and when there's a possibility of a pandemic, what does "saying goodbye" normally consist of in their culture. There might be a good reason not to let people say goodbye to someone who died of coronavirus, especially if it involves physical contact.
  7. Home sick today. Mom brought the juicer back last week. Celery mixed with carrot and a green apple isn't half bad. I know that's still a LOT of sugar, though.
  8. Me! But nowhere near the military bases. Momma to 3 boys is as well, but I don't *think* she's near any.
  9. So, big project that I was working on last week at work (and a few evenings outside of work...) is done. So now I have a sore throat, am exhausted, and was running a 2 degree temp this morning. It's down to only 1 degree now. *pops more vitamin C*
  10. So...no new dishwasher until we either install connections or pay a plumber to do it. Our dishwasher is currently hardline into the pex pipe instead of connected with the 3/8 connection they want.
  11. for those who need it. I'm excited, we're getting a new dishwasher today.
  12. We've been spraying Lysol like crazy up at work. I'm actively working on not catching what the lady down the hall has. Popping Vitamin C like crazy. I have elderberry around here somewhere, I should probably find that too. Working from home today.
  13. There are reports from relatives of the deceased that the death certificates are being issued with pneumonia rather than the virus as the cause of death. That rather indicates that China is still trying to hide the whole picture....
  14. https://www.businessinsider.com/wuhan-china-coronoavirus-city-sealed-cut-off-stockpile-food-2020-1 How long until the government has to either lift the restrictions or figure out how to provide food to millions of people?
  15. Are you getting a message that says Cloudflare when you try to visit some sites? It's something that'll show up when they're overloaded (if they use Cloudflare - it makes things load faster and provides some security). As far as I know, it isn't something you can really have on your computer.
  16. If China is quarantining that many cities, there's something they're not telling us.
  17. I made the mistake of trying to roll out sugar cookies on top of the dishwasher after it had ran once. Didn't work out so well.
  18. They sell them at Bed Bath & Beyond, Amazon, and a lot of other places.

    COMEDY

Yeah, there's a few stories running around out there. Apparently one guy's Dad fell down while he was out jogging and it notified him and called 911, and because he had it set up where he could see where his Dad was located, he was able to meet them at the hospital.

My Apple Watch will ask me if I'm ok if I fall down. If you don't respond, it'll call 911 and give them your location.

    COMEDY

None of them can understand me if I don't focus on it carefully. They reeeeeally don't like the long "I" sound drawled out.
  22. Yes, yes, you can. If you have an immersion blender it's easy peasy: https://40aprons.com/whole30-immersion-blender-mayo/

    Lose weight

We paid $300 for 28 meals prepped and ready to go. The ones she made for lunches have tortillas and fruit in them, but all the dinner ones are pretty low carb. However...she cooks with very little oil or salt, so I’m having to literally add those to the meals. There’s too many veggies in each of them, and when we asked her to leave out the cucumbers in half, there’s no way to tell which ones she left them out of. I think we’re using them for ideas and working on making on our for next time...
  24. MM, I submitted for approval to that group and was approved 2 minutes later, so I’m in. I’ll PM you since I can’t remember who’s who on Facebook.
  25. My contribution to the bacon discussion.
