  1. Tracphone is good where there is service. I do not know the truth about Verizon but it either has been bought out by centurylink or joined in partnership. Straighttalk was serviced by 4 which included Verizon. Now they are no longer with them. Centurylink is world wide now and could care less about good service. For some reason this makes me think of Monsanto.
  2. Sign was put in front of my house , politely put to side of road but very seeable! Of course the attitude here is ...seeing is believing......... so drivers go flying through ignoring the sign and around the curve , yep the road is closed and they can’t get to the bar!!!!!!!! So they have to turn around and go the long way around. I wonder what they are doing but am not curious enough to walk down there to see.
  3. Mt_Ryder hope you are ok this morning. Maybe ok is not the right word! But I do hope you are able to function and nothing broken. Please do not ever step over the dog. Their reaction to such is not reliable. The first time I fell I had walked beside my dog which was laying beside the cabinet. She got up and moved in front of me causing me to fall, but on her, so it was an easy landing. I am not in the habit of falling and until my hip broke was in good health.
  4. Hugs to you dear Jeepers moving is a biggggg job! Don't forget to take a break ever so often!
  5. Big job , well done , Desert Jewel! Everybody is working! I canned more juice yesterday. Made a skirt, etc
  6. Goes very well with the gas leak. Men do think differently than women.
  7. Very interesting! I am not sure about their idea of fear either. Could it mean trust? As walking where angels fear to tred?
  8. http://www.ky3.com/content/news/Therapy-dog-joins-Stockton-school-system-490970881.html Is this one of Carlene's dogs?

  10. Showers this a.m. which we desperately needed. Cattle farmers in some area ran out of pasture last month, needing to feed hay when the hay crop is extremely scarce. Mt_Ryder just because we have not had the weather you and Annarchy had does not mean we can not have something else just as extreme. Mother always said one extreme follows another..... will it be extremely mild winter or extremely cold? I keep feeling I need to get a winter supply of wood in. Your parents and their children are to be commended for the desire to work! On another forum was a short discussion of people not having money for food.... there are truly people in need but these people they talked about weren’t. Slothful is the Biblical word. That is the reason I want to leave here! If the government quit feeding/supplying every need for these people I might be able to hire someone to help me when I need help!
  11. Nice showers not much but the plants soaked up every drop that fell on them. Pulled crabgrass in “garden”. Only tomatoes this year. Watched closely for hornworms. I have had both kinds this year, I know one is the tobacco hornworm and the other is the tomato hornworm. The difference is the stripes on the sides. The first ones were red stripes but this exceptionally numerous crop now has white stripes. I am killing at least a dozen every time I go out. So far I have been out 3 times today!! Then I got in my to do basket...I finished one dress and worked on another. Look at the Walmart Brother with a jaundiced eye. At least I did not buy it, nor would I ever buy such from Walmart . That gets to my back so I do something else. I canned 2 pints juice and 2 pints tomatoes. That makes 28 pints now. Jeepers I hope you find out about your back. Mine can be a kidney infection,or too soft a bed, or improper height of chair for my sewing machine.

    Gas leak

Lady of the house reported gas leak under house to the gas company. Two repairmen were sent..a cocky young fellow and a seasoned older man As they were finishing the repair, the cocky young man started ribbing the older man about his age..... the older man replied, I can beat you in a race any day. Prove says Cocky, The older pointed to the outside and said let’s go! They tore out from under the house and raced down the road for all they were worth. Reaching the telephone pole at a sound the whirled around and there was the lady of the house right behind them with the skillet still in her hand.... Whats wrong?, they asked? She said she looked out the window and knew if they were running from a gas leak she had better too.............................
  13. The Four Theives Vinegar Collective Give it it time to load......
  14. For clarifying Jeepers !! Yes that is a trick used for years. If the coffee is too acid, add a pinch of salt to the pot. A pinch of sugar to bring out the flavor. And a shake of cinnamon for more flavor!
  15. Starbucks uses cheap coffee beans and it is all roasted dark to hide the poor taste. I have been buying mine at the Dutch Market. But a lot of it was outdated and now they have more customers buying it. I only go over there two to three times a year so I guess I got the left overs. I know what I don’t like! I ordered from Coffeebeandirect.com they sell by the lb and it is cheaper than the $ store. Good coffee. I drink 3-6 cups a day. Today is probably 6 cups. I fill my glass with ice and pour hot or cold coffee over it.?
  16. Oxycodone acetaminophen had to look it up on the paperwork. Morphine was nothing to me. But according to the paperwork I was given Fentnyl (spelling)which is a controlled substance but it is ok for surgeons to use for its supreme pain kill.
  17. My volunteer tomatoes produce more than the one I planted. I am getting 4-1 in tomatoes from the volunteers. They are quarter size and I make them into juice. I can the big ones whole .
  18. They gave me the narcotic Tylenol . Can't think of the name. I only took them for a week. I did not take the asprin.which is to prevent blood clots because I don't do asprins well. The bottle fell off behind the stereo and I totally forgot it.....
  19. Also NSIADs interfere with bone growth. For healing the bone must grow over thee prosthesis. Heavy use of NSAIDs can prevent this.
  20. At home I have WiFi which is better than away from home . Here we have the less than mediocre centurylink . Verizon who had teamed with cL took their tower down which was near here..... I am thinking about going back to straighttalk but want my own phone...no Samsung! I think they lease/use the 4 major carriers. I notice they have gone up to $55 monthly.
  21. What kind of cell phone do you have and why if you live in a low reception area? I can not get a landline here and my cell reception which was fair at best got worse. To realize no reception when you need it is not a pleasant feeling. To have frantic people trying to call..
  22. Mt_Rider and all, you asked what I learned on hips. First I will give you a link where you can learn more than I can tell you. Bonesmart.org which is for knees and other joints as well. Not everyone has problems, such as are talked about. I was told the three major things, no 90% bending, keep your feet straight, don’t cross your legs. Nothing was said about no lifting. I live alone, and as you know if you have a garden or animals of any kind, you know that there will be lifting one way or another. Another thing is your hips in a away are the “ command post” of your body no pun intended but the seat of your affections. Loss of hair, depression, UTIs, and many other problems can arise. Fever can be an unwanted companion and as long as it does not go over 103 is considered ok. Ice will be your best friend for swelling and fever in the affected joint. I did not have an ice bag so I froze water in a zip lock bag. Double bagging is a good idea. When it thaws just put it back in the freezer. So I do the best I can . Made do with what I have. This is not the truth..a broken hip is of no consequence.
  23. Yes Jeepers isolation is not for everyone! But something tells me Mrs. Bouvier would not have let off steam as you did to your neighbor. It hurts no one to thin down. But it takes a less than strong minded person to do what she did. Rejection set her off... When I spent those many miles and months cleaning up my wards place.. I made the decision no one would see my house that way. Yes I have more than I want that belongs to her( one can always hope) or to my DD. But it is neatly stacked until it can be disposed off. Sigh if all but my things were gone...this would indeed look like a big house.
