  1. I am pretty sure Fran is ok, they did have quite a bit of flooding in the area where she is located and some power outages, but most of the power has been restored, and waters are starting to recede now.
  2. I would have cows, chickens, goats, turkeys, pigs. For Breed and sale , freezer, milk, cheese and butter.
  3. Knowing the luck with the weather we are having lately, we will get a blizzard next week. Nothing with this weather would surprise me. And yes, you can feel a 3.7 quake, We had one hear last year, every picture on my walls were wopsided.. It may not be a big quake, but it is enough to wake people up and say hey, this can happen here, to me....
  4. The first thing I do everynight before going to bed is always check the window to make sure it is locked in my kids rooms, then I pull the blind and curtains. Also I always make sure there is some kind of shrubbery planted on the outside of the kids bedroom windows, so if someone did try to get in they would have to fight the shrubs first. This really makes me angry, that these sick people have to do things like this to small poor innocent kids.
  5. Ok, folks I am now floating back to the top, we recieved a 9.7 inches of rain from Dear Ivan, and we had wind gusts of 50 mph, power was out overnight, and 90 streets were closed, still waiting for rivers and creeks to crest. Thank goodness all schools were closed. Now, lets be on the lookout for Jeanne. I don't know what the heck charley did to frances, but it sure has made Ivan and Jeanne mad at them, I just hope they take their fury out on someone else, leave the south alone for a while... The sun has finally come out and allowing things to dry up some. We made it through alright, several big limbs down in the yard and my green beans got washed away, but other than that, we are fine. Thanks for everyone who pm'd me inquiring about how we were doing...... SE Tennessee
  6. Having to catch up on missed posts, so if I have not said welcome to ya, well here is one big un for all of ya, good to have you all here.
  7. Hello Susa, would offer you some dinner but have not decided on what to have yet. But I will share my (quaker) quakes potato stix (made from rice cakes), and some Dr.Pepper. again Welcome....
  8. Hey Theyd, I'll bring the row boat.......
  9. Sorry, Buttercup if I let ya down, did not have time to post this morning, way too much going on. As you all have probably seen in Streams of the Desert post,I have asked for everyones prayers for a family member, have been on the phone and internet all day, trying to get information. On top of this, trying to finish up preps for this dang hurricane. Made sure all the laundry was caught up today, moving the dogs to higher ground, went to the store to pick up a few extra items that I may be needing and also 12 bags of ice.I have the generator, but there is no way I am going to lose my freezer full of meat, should the power be out for a couple of days, so taking extra precautions.I placed several bottles of water down in the bottom of my freezers last week. The forecast for us during this storm, is: Remnants of Ivan is forecast to move up the Tennessee Valley overnight Friday night and then slow to a crawl lingering through Sunday. By Sunday 5 to 12 inches of rain is possible. Strong gusty winds will also be possible as the storm approaches.Possible isolated tornadoes. The center of this storm at this time is supposed to stall out right over Bradley County Tennessee Where Ilive. This has the potential to become a very dangerous and significant flood. So doing everything possible to make sure we are as protected as I can make us...Anyone else in this path please take care and take cover....I will be back online as soon as possible if we should loose power.
  10. welcome Jane and STella, how about some pot roast, with carrots and homemade mashed potatoes? Come join us for dinner....

    Hi Shyla

Welcome Shyla, how about some bagels and cream cheese and orange juice, pull up a chair and lets introduce ourselves,
  12. Glad to see that most of Florida may be out of the way of this beast Ivan. But the rest of us who may be in harms way, get prepared and take cover now.... I live in Southeast Tennessee, and it was reported yesterday on the Weather Channel, that if you live in the Chattanooga or surrounding areas to go ahead and get your flashlights and batteries ready that we will be needing them... In our area alone, they are calling for heavy rains and flooding, and winds between 40 to 73 miles per hour. This beginning Wednesday night if Ivan remains as strong as he is. So as of Wednesday morning, if they are still calling for winds to be that high, I will not be online for a couple of days, I have done made plans to go to a hotel. I live in a mobile home, it is sturdy and I know it will handle 40 mile per hour winds, but I am not chancing anything more than that.I already have my totes packed and sitting by the back door, ready to load in the car..I have one tote that has the first aid kit, and medications, extra toilet paper, wipes, plastic sheeting, duct tape, shampoo, toothpaste and brushes, candles, lamp oil, an oil lamp, matches, and 3 cylinders of propane for my camp stove, a camp stove coffee pot, one small cast iron skillet, one small sauce pan, and spatula and spoon, 2 dish towels, dish detergentetc. Then the other tote has ravioli, chili, sandwich spreads, soups, crackers, peanut butter, cookies, candy, bottled water, bottled sunny d juice, and capri sun juice pouches. Mayonnaise, ketchup, ranch dressing, corn beef hash, can tuna, can chicken, I have a cooler that Iwill fill with Ice just before we leave and I have plenty of lunch meats for sandwiches for a couple of days. and of course some chips and soft drinks and plenty of coffee...I also have 2 changes of clothing for each of us ready to go,I have flashlights and batteries, and have batteries for my weather radio.... So I hope everyone stays safe, please take care and post and let everyone know if your alright after all this mess....Otherwise, it is really nice day. Be Good..
  13. Ok, count me in,,, I'll see what I can come up with....
  14. I hate doing the dishes, it is a never ending chore.....neverending. I gripe about it all the time. As of right now, all of our hurricane evacuators are changing their plans. Doesn't look as if they will get it as bad as they thought.... By what they said on the weather channel a little earlier, looks as if Tennessee is going to get it worse than Florida,....figure this Tennesseans running to Flordia to escape hurricane..
  15. Theyd, I hate that you are going through so much. and anytime you need a shoulder we are here for you. Do not you ever worry about self pity. If anyone deserves a pity party right now, honey I am handing you the balloons. You have way too much on your shoulders right now....IF you need to sound off at anytime, you know where to go. We are here for you.......
  16. Snowmom: Did you mean overdoing the drinking or work,
  17. the main reason I do all the cleaning, is so that I can have the house neat and clean, so that I can enjoy spending time with them also. The grandmother and I spend the whole time they are here in the kitchen cooking up all kinds of concoctions. And I take here to some of the out of the way junk shops, her family will not take her to places like that, and she can't drive, she is legally blind. But she loves junkin, so I make it a point to take her whenever she is here, but then the SIL, always goes back and tells the ex wife things....So I just love to get their goats.....I guess you could say that I might have just a little meanness streak in me....LOL
  18. Theyd, We are women hear us roar....with what we put up with everyday, we are aloud a pity party, every now and then, so sound off,if ya want, we will listen to ya....seriously, we are here for you if you need us, WE care about you...
  19. I believe Diane will be the next one out the door on Big Brother. I do not believe Drew is as tied to Diane as she believes him to be....... and as for cleaning the carpets, at least the house looks spectacularly clean and smells really fresh. So they can't go back to florida and tell everyone how dirty it was.....
  20. I am finally getting to steam cleaning my carpets. I wanted to get it down before my company gets here, WHY, I DON'T KNOW; what with 28 people running in and out, for who knows how long, I will just have to do it again as soon as they all leave. But at least they can say they had good clean accomodations. We have booked 3 hotel suites for some of them, and several will stay here at the house with us, and then the my landlord has a small one bedroom house that he is going to let us use, the power is not on in it, but he has four generators, he said we could use as many as we needed to help these people get through this. He said he may even run to the electric company today and have them turn the power on to the house, for this emergency. I still haven't gotten to the store to get groceries yet, will try this evening. But mostly want to get the cleaning done and out of the way....depending on the track of this beast, those of us further north, such as alabama, georgia, tennessee, kentucky, ohio, may yet be in harms way again. So, I just wanted to say, I love you all, and am praying for all of my new friends and family members, everyone please get in touch with the site or with the back up site as soon as you can to let us all know that you are ok. Please stay safe, please evacuate, don't try to ride this one out.....
  21. Darlene: please do not worry about the site or about us, you worry about you and get to safety. We love you and are praying for your safety. But the minute you can get back on and let us know that you are ok, you better. Or we may all gang up and come looking fer ya.....
