  1. Thanks! I might try a small container to test and go from there. Thanks for all of your hard work and help!!!
  2. I bought Peach Mango Salsa at Costco the other day. It is very good but it's a Costco container (large). I was going to put it in a few freezer containers and put it in the freezer. On the package it reads, DO NOT FREEZE. Why would they say no freezing? Would it be alright? Violet, expertise please.
  3. I have green beans coming in, peppers, broccoli, and a few tomatoes. Basil is going to seed and I can't manage to get out there to take care of it (never enough hours in the day with 3 little people that are busy ). Lots of weeds coming in. My garlic needs to be pulled and I have some lettuce and things that can be removed at this point. Blackberries are coming in but we lost all of the apples and cherries with the early heat/late frost in March. I'm with Dee, no energy to start again. I'll plant garlic in the fall and work from there. Maybe I'll try a late garden with a few things. Good luck homeschoolshe!
  4. Just sat down trying to catch up on everything. They found a blood clot in his colon causing severe bleeding (but it had stopped). Going with minimally evasive treatments first. If that doesn't correct it, they surgery. He just received his first unit of blood(hemoglobin was at a 6.3 after 24 hours of iron supplement.) They want him to be at a 13. White count was low but in normal range. Red count was low. Thanks for the prayers.
  5. DH has to be scoped in the morning and possibly admitted into the hospital for a transfusion depending on lab results from this afternoon. I'm going to try and make sure birthdays are taken care of before we leave. If I can't check will someone else try to check, please.
  6. Take care of yourself. I'm sure the drought isn't helping either. DS 1 woke up coughing this morning had to break out the alleegy meds for him.
  7. My garlic needs to be harvested now. Long and short of the story, it's the garlic we planted last spring that didn't do anything. Well, it came up this spring and the stalks are brown and falling. How should I dry it since it's the middle of summer? Just bring it in the house with the ac? Things to learn, remember to plant garlic in the fall......
  8. Reb! Mimi54! Have a wonderful day!
  9. Keep an eye on this. Our local news had a report about the tracks warping because of the heat. There was a derailment last week and it was because of the track. The tracks are one long piece now and it warps (track in the midwest can withstand 95*, 105* out west). The old track that was pieces didn't have this problem.
  10. I'm trying to get out there now....
  11. to a fellow Midwesterner!
  12. Jammers! Pippenwycks! Hope you have a wonderful day!!!
  13. More blueberries (I think I'm almost up to 3 gallons and 1 pint), green beans (just about a gallon).
  14. Good morning~ It's starting to clear up here but we had some rain early. Just put the green beans from the garden that we didn't eat into the freezer. Dh remarked how good they were, I just smiled and said that's why I grow them (they are better than the ones from the farms). I picked a pint of blackberries yesterday and let everyone eat them since they are the first picking of the year. The kids have a birthday party down by my parents this afternoon but not sure if we'll make it. DH has been getting horrible headaches and dizzy spells since Wednesday afternoon. Chills, one night, also. We've been watching his blood pressure and it's been all over the place but in the lower to normal range. So, I'm not sure if I want to be an hour away if one of the headaches hit and he needs medical help. He's making a doctor's appointment in the morning. He has a family history of high blood pressure (Dad and both brothers) but I'm questioning if he has low blood pressure that needs to be monitored. If we stay home than I'll run and pick up beans, corn, blueberries, and maybe some peaches all to freeze, minus some corn for dinner (all three kids LOVE corn on the cob!). Hope you have a wonderful day. Maybe even cool and with rain for all of the areas that need it.
  15. Sorry the wishes are late! Hope you had a wonderful day!
  16. Thanks Violet! I know no barley or rice or pasta. I don't add my vegetables either until I make the entire thing. I just know how expense meat is on sale now and don't want to buy it later. I just didn't see that part on the uga site. Not sure how I missed the section on soup since that's what I went in there looking for.
  17. Is it possible to can beef soup? Use the Ball directions to make stock and then leave the meat in it? Is hot packing beef in beef broth the same thing. I've looked in all of the ball books I have and on the UGA site and hot packing the beef is the only thing I'm seeing. Looking for a way to have the base for Vegetable, Beef, Barley Soup.
