  1. TurtleMama donnaIL Have a wonderful day:bighug2:
  2. The Chicago strike opened Pandora's box. There have been multiple districts in the metro area that have gone on strike. It's been interesting to get local news on it. The new Superintendent for CPS was hired in at what the former left at (terms of the contract the former was terminated). I'm reminded why I drive an hour one way for my kids education. We had a 12 y.o. bring a bb gun to school (public) last week and a 14 y.o. who brought a hand gun, also. The mom of the second allowed a search of the home. Fire arm was found kid admitted he was involved with a gang and had stolen the gun from an older friend in Gary.
  3. Have a wonderful time!!!
  4. May you have a blessed day
  5. The directions on the fusible interfacing I bought said to pre-wash all fabrics. The fabric is washed but do they want the interfacing washed, too?
  6. Yesterday, I put up 4 pts of Chunky Tomato-Basil Pasta Sauce and 11 pts of Salsa. Thank you Violet for the Pasta Sauce Recipe. It's my new favorite recipe!!!! It makes the entire house smell so good!
  7. I've been swamped and a cold to boot, now, but wanted to post. I ended up helping one of my mom's friends with some canning that she was doing. She was given a recipe for tomato soup with corn starch. I told her you can't can anything with cornstarch, flour, etc. She said it tasted fine. Then she said once it came to a boil, you just put the flat lids on it and let them seal. HUH?!?!? I explained to her that you can't do that ever and she said she didn't think so and I said that's just a breeding ground for botulism and everything else. She said that's what she thought. I dropped off one of my Ball books and told her to hang on to it until she was done canning. But I realized just how thankful I was for Violet and all of our questions.
  8. DH did a HUGE amount of research when ours started to smell. Leaving the door open and the drawer for the soap wasn't enough. He found directions that had you clean it with a mixture (can't remember what) and run it through several times. They also said to wipe down the door and rubber and the inside where the water can sit to help.
  9. Well, not as bad as I thought it was going to be. I say that now......
