  1. Yep! It's bookmarked so I don't have to search for it. I actually sent my sister-in-law the link to it this morning. So I can't find anything for 2012 but are they recommended pressure canning salsa?
  2. Is there a new Ball Blue Book out or is the most recent the 100 Anniversary Edition? 100 Anniversary Edition is copy right 2009 Ball Complete Book of Home Preserving is 2006 I just want to make sure I'm not missing the new book. Ah, the days I wish I had a few people on speed dial. LOL!
  3. I was making oatmeal raisin cookies. The recipe stated the salt was optional, I've never notice that before. But it got me to thinking, if I'm using salted butter then I shouldn't need to add salt or as much. Correct? I'm thinking if salt becomes hard to get can you just go with salted butter.

    Welcome home!
  5. It was finally down to 86 when we were coming home from taekwondo just before 6. I watered the garden at 7:30 because DS2 slept in and so did I. The neighbor is out weed whacking now. - Crazy! DS2 had his one year check this morning, 22 lbs and 29.5 inches. And then we ran and picked up part of his late birthday present. Wink~ I would love to have the berries in already. My blackberries haven't turned yet. I talked to my sister about blueberries early this morning. She said only two farms watered and those are the only two open for business. You have to put your order in a few days before and they are $14.50 per 5 lbs box. I want/need 20# between eating and putting up. I've never had to pre-order either. Times are changing. I told the kids we would make cookies tomorrow but I'm going to have to figure out how to get an inventory in of my canned veggies. Wink~ glad you ended up getting rain today. Hoping we get some tonight and tomorrow!
  6. This will sound crazy but the Pediatrician told us McDonalds fries were okay with Celiac when they were checking DD. That was almost 5 years ago so I would check to see if it's still alright but it might be a nice treat. I'll see if I have any of the info Riley's or the nutritionist at the local hospital gave me. Dangerous Grains (book)
  7. Harvested some lettuce earlier today, The darn rabbits had gotten some of that and the strawberries. I have green tomatoes and blossoms from the green beans coming in. I have a few peppers coming in, too.
  8. The kids have winter curtains that are white or off white in color. They let in ALOT of lot and we are having fights getting them to bed at 8 or a little after, they are up early. I don't want to go by blackout curtains unless I really have to. I know eventually I will breakdown and do it. But would a dark colored sheer between the curtain and the blinds do the same thing?

    Monday

Good morning~ It's overcast but I can see the sun is shining so I don't think we'll see any rain today. We had a nice long rain Saturday into Sunday, someone said 4 inches but I don't know if that is confirmed. But we'll take anything we are given, the NE part of the state didn't receive any rain. We are praying for all of the farmers but especially for them to see some much needed rain. I stand corrected, I just looked at the weather report and we have a 35% chance for an isolated thunder storm this morning but the high is going to be 95*. DH and I took the kids to go find a mitt and bat for DS1 for t-ball yesterday and picked up one for DD, also. We were leaving and DH realized he should have gotten one for himself but it's not imperative this minute. He played with both of the kids when we came home, went to Gander Mountain, too. He said they both did well but he was surprised at how well DD did. I just shook my head and realized I would be adding her to the ball schedule next spring/summer. DS1 will probably be going back to TaekWonDo in the late fall. They also had swim lessons this past week and DS2, who turned 1 yesterday, is a natural. He was putting his face in the entire time. I knew one of these kids had my genes . We went to Gander Mountain, (Cabela's or Bass Pro but much smaller) so DH could get his father's day gift. The kids wanted to go look at fishing poles so I took them. I found a soft tackle box with 4 hard plastic boxes that I really want for my grab and go first aid kit. It was $80 so I'm going to see if I can find one cheaper or put my own together. I forgot to look at camp lanterns, I really want a few battery operated ones for the kids. I hopped on-line this morning and found a Coleman Personal-sized LED Lantern that has a nightlight setting that I really liked. Today, I'm going to run and get DS2 his birthday gift and DD has TaekWonDo later. I'm going to work in the garden and call around for blueberries to see who has them and what they are running a pound. What's going on in your world today? Have a great one!
  10. Congratulations TurtleMama!!!! If you are on facebook, send me a message here so we can friend each other. I am on a homeschool group there that gives lots of info but also will let you ask questions, through them, about curriculum(s) and experiences people have had with them. I was able to sample the Rosetta Stone Homeschool Spanish program. :woohoo:
