hopegrows
Is there a place canning lids can be purchased cheaper online. Everywhere is out around here except Kroger and they want $1.99 for a 12 pack of regular lids. I would like to find them a little cheaper! Thanks Link to comment
HSmom
I was just coming here to ask a similar question. I've found a few places on-line that are under $2, but the last time I bought lids (a couple-three years ago), I only paid $1. So in addition to Hopegrows' question, I would add: What are y'all paying for lids/flats (no bands)? Link to comment
stacey
I think I paid $1.44 for 12 at Wal mart... Link to comment
serendipity
Didn't Darlene have a way to get them in bulk? Or was that canning jars? And don't some of us get them in large quantities from the Amish somehow? Not sure where I read these things but that is what is popping out of my memory at me. Link to comment
serendipity
Oh, and here they were 1.19 on sale this summer. Now they are up to $1.39 and no longer on sale like they were. Don't those people who price this stuff realize that everyone is canning like mad into September??? Sheesh. lol Link to comment
hopegrows
I can get wide mouth lids at the local bulk foods store really cheap, but I do not have that many wide mouth jars, I have the regular ones the most. Last year when I tried to buy them at Walmart I asked an employee where the canning lids were. She had to find another employee becasue she didn't know what canning even was!!!! Link to comment
Dee
A friend called today asking if I'd bought lids recently. I hadn't so I don't know what's out there but she said she's looked in 2 towns and can find the wide mouth lids but the regular size spaces are empty. Link to comment
CrabGrassAcres
I get them from: http://www.fillmorecontainer.com/default.asp Link to comment
HSmom
CGA, they're out of stock on the regular. Dee, that's what I'm finding here: plenty of wides, but no regular. Link to comment
Crazy4Canning
Oh man, I was in the Lancaster area last summer and drove right by their warehouse....oh man, oh man, oh man! Link to comment
ScrubbieLady
I have been getting them Fred's Discount Store for $1.00 for 12 regular or wide mouth but they only have them seasonally. One of the stores still is getting some and they apparently will order if someone wants a large quantity but I have been in a couple of their stores that were out of everything. Fred's is a store chain out of Memphis, TN. I don't know how far they go. Link to comment
CrabGrassAcres
Out of stock? Oh my. Link to comment

etp777
Not bad, cga. Works out to $1.51/dozen shipped by my math. Cheaper than i can find them around here, even before tax. Link to comment
HSmom
I think that seller might suddenly find herself out of stock. Link to comment
Cricket
They are out of stock now, but I hit the dollar stores earlier this season and scooped them up for $1 per dozen, both sizes. The local grocer still has some, but they are $1.99. I haven't been to Walmart in a while. I have my lids stored in a meal-size plastic container with a snap-on lid, tucked into a dark closet. I'm hoping that will keep them good longer. Any thoughts on storing extra lids when we can get them? Link to comment
ScrubbieLady
I was in a Fred's in Southaven, Ms today and they had their canning jars and lids. The pint jars were $6.49/dozen, regular lids were $1.00 and regular bands and lids were $2.00. I will be going back to get some lids. I have just been given some more jars. I didn't see any lids or bands and lids for wide mouth jars but the Fred's usually have them for pretty close to the same price. Link to comment
WormGuy
Fred's was the only place I could find wide mouth lids & bands last year. John Link to comment
Josephine
I thought this post title was "Purchasing Kids"... I get mine (lids! not kids.) from Harris Teeter or Shopper's Food Warehouse. HT is actually cheaper for the lids, but SFW is cheaper for the jars. Not a wild difference, but some. Link to comment
