  1. What fun to see your pictures! The hilly area reminds me a bit of the hill in front of my house, referred to by locals as "roller coaster hill" except it's just one really steep hill (what a joy when you're out walking and coming home-knee to chin) and then it turns corners. I love that picture of your grandson. He looks like he's in 7th heaven on that tractor!
  2. Yes, I know someone like this and I have run into him from time to time and it's a possibility I will run into him today. This old geezer isn't on anybody's list (official list) because no one has turned him in. Someone tried and it was too late after the fact (statute of limitations). He was removed from a church and the people were told but, as often with creeps like this, people thought it must have been a mistake and "poor, old John". Grubby, I can't remember how old your child is but I think she needs to know to keep away from this person and that this doesn't have to change her friendship with the daughter.
  3. I also make a turkey version of shepherd's pie. Mashed potatoes, diced turkey, peas, carrots, celery diced and then turkey gravy.
  4. I inherited a couple of Mom's older pressure cookers and used them for canning. I heard the horror stories, too, and was glad when everything worked like it was supposed to and no mess on the ceiling. Sounds like this is going to save you lots of time!
  5. I'm so glad you and your family are safe and have good friends who are helping you along.
  6. I am here now. It's been a lulu of a year and 2007 just has to be better. I've just been distracted by other things. My sister was diagnosed with cancer in the spring, had a colostomy, chemo, radiation and now more chemo - the light at the end of the tunnel should be coming up soon there. A good friend and her husband died in a house fire on the 15th and their funeral is tomorrow. Just plain hard parts of life. I would love to hear some good news like a marriage or new baby coming.
  7. I'm so sorry. This is just the real downer about pets. I'm glad she was able to be with you so many years after they didn't think she'd make it. Hugs,

    Saturday

Good evening Mommafitz . The news report said candles should not take the place of battery powered lights, etc. We're just sick about this. Their two kitties no doubt were there with them also. It would have been their anniversary on Monday. I just feel profoundly sad. I haven't been here in awhile. Will have to read around to see what's going on. I'm making pizza dough and sauce some of you posted.
  9. Thank you for the links and information. I have been reading Dr. Andrew Weil's Healthy Aging.
  10. What a relief! Are they all moved out now? I certainly hope the landlord changes the locks.
  11. Good morning, Dee . That sounds like a great way to spend Saturday. It's rainy and foggy here this morning. It remains to be seen how rainy - mist, sprinkle, drizzle, gully-washer. It's a soup kind of day. Bake something kind of day. I'm thinking buttermilk coffee cake. And the thing I do best: puttering.
  12. Lois, I'm sorry for your loss. You and your family are in my prayers.

    Teaberry

    Teaberry is in my prayers.
  14. Grilled cheese sandwiches, split pea soup with rye bread, swedish meatballs with mashed potatoes or rice, Sturgeon rolled in cracker crumbs and fried, Mom's potato salad, fresh homemade bread and butter or fresh homemade bread put under the broiler with butter, brown sugar and cinnamon, chicken noodle soup, scrambled eggs and toast for dinner or waffles for dinner. This is not my favorite but it would be DH's: clam chowder or fried razor clams (you can dig them near here). I didn't like it as a kid but love it now: salmon and dungeness crab.
  15. Good Saturday morning . It must have been satisfying to see the boys after their first day of school and also the trip to Hobby Lobby (we don't have one but they sound great) and Walmart and then to dinner with your family. Too bad about the kitties but you're better off not having anything aggravate your allergies. Isn't it funny how some are allergic to cats and others to dogs and some to both? My DH was allergic to a little stray cat we brought in once but that's the only one - he's fine with others. Wishing everyone a fun Saturday.
  16. A big treat tonight: STEAK!! and a big salad.
  17. Any Debbie Macomber fans out there? I saw her new book 6 Ranier Drive at Costco today. It was all I could do to keep from buying it and start reading
  18. Happy belated 22nd anniversary to Mommafitz & DH
  19. Good morning, . Have a great Friday everyone (now sounding more like Tigger, lol).
  20. Good morning Pixie: Sounds like you have good plans for your future. Morrigan sounds so cute. Snowmom: How is the kitty doing? Or how are you doing with the kitty? I hope everyone is starting out with a good Wednesday. Come tell us what you're up to. I've got coffee and blueberry crisp.
  21. Six miles. I'm doing better now .
