  1. Great thread Stephanie! Made me think. We've been remiss in teaching ds much about operating big tractor and the plow. His brothers were baling hay on their own when not much older. So far all he's learned is about gun parts and repairs. Dh has been teaching how to operate lathes, mills, and that kind of stuff. Homemaker, I'm going to have son help build portable chicken house this summer too. There are several free plans on line. And I'm thinking he can learn with me how to put down laminate flooring. He can figure the dimensions. measure and mark. Help tap in the boards and maybe run the saw after instruction and close supervision. Might take me awhile to get totally comfortable with that.
  2. Ginger, I always so enjoy it when you share inspirational messages and encouragement. For all the times I read them and don't say thanks...just know His word never returns void. Isiah 55:11 So shall my word be that goeth forth out of my mouth: it shall not return unto me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper in the thing whereto I sent it.
  3. Michael, have some questions here (women need lots of words to grasp full picture lol). What are running lines? How many taps are done per tree? How long do you leave them in? What is a sugar house? This is very interesting, I'm hoping you'll add more to your blog on the start to finish of maple syrup process. Thanks!!
  4. Great job Aaroun. Preparing splint on opposite limb or another person I never thought about. Great suggestion! Something I did think of for another good lesson topic is pulse points. Some people might possibly only think of carotid or radial.
  5. Wow! What a cutie. Adorable.
  6. Yes! A silver lining to every cloud. Did they get the roof finished as planned?

I didn't know you could even buy the boxes of dream whip anymore. Had forgotten all about them! Mom used to keep it all the time in her cupboard. Will look for it next time at grocery.
  8. Hoping you're feeling better and rested. Enjoyed so much reading about your sweet mama. She sounds pretty savvy and we should always take our mama's good advise I'd love to hear more about Sjogren's Syndrome. Don't really know what it is and how it effects the body. Please do write more about it.
  9. Very nice work! Noticed the water hydrant nearby for all the lovely plants that will soon be springing up. Can't wait to see more pictures. (((Rezgirl)) Another thing I noticed earlier is today is a special day!! HAPPY BIRTHDAY REZGIRL.
  10. Back to the top. Great tips for those new to dehydrating. I did the zuchinni chips last summer. Good stuff, low fat replacement for store bought potato chips (unless you don't like taste of zuchinni).
  11. Hi and a great big welcome Karelle. So glad you've joined us. As the others said, will be a great help in keeping "you know who" in line. Can you believe she needed written notice to let her MOM in the edge?? Well, I'm glad you set her straight right off. . Darlene has done slipped up now. Let the cat outta the bag. Handed us the key to the castle. Who wants to go first? Have we got a lot to tell you Karelle!! Check out her avator people... "nobody knows the trouble I been". Not anymore.
  12. Let's blame the one who started it all.
  13. Looking for feedback from any AARP members. What kinds of discounts do you use the card for? What stores honor the card? Like does McDonalds or other business that promote "senior discount" programs use that for identification? I guess what I want to know is if the $12.50 membership is a good value or not. Some of this is addressed in above posts but they are couple years old and things may have changed. *asking for a "friend", cuz I'm only 29*

    Ouch

(((Wormie))) Sorry to hear the back left town (noticed sense of humor even thru all the pain). Will keep you in thought and prayer including for the new job. Can't believe your ground is warm enough to start planting! We usually can't put anything out until at least May. I think seedlings need a little breeze to make their stems stronger so they grow upright instead of laying down. Might try putting them on top of frig to allow just enough warmth and breeze from fan motor.
  15. What a lovely valentines day for you! DH set a wonderful example for the children in honoring others and you are the "sweetheart" of the home!! This was not only a great time of excitement and fun for them but a "life lesson" , they'lll surely carry forward in their future relationships. Good job Henry!
  16. Welcome!

I was afraid Stephanie had skeerd you away!

  17. It's about time you got here, i was ready to send out the calvary! (((Granny)))

  18. Hey Cat, I love the pink cat smiley! A suggestion for the jokes, someone once said if you wouldn't tell it to your pastor/priest, or if that's not applicable, your mother, then possibly think twice before telling in general groups. Maybe this still won't fit everyone but that's my thoughts. Hugs to all.
  19. Colorful, exciting, humorous and so much fun, Of this side of her our hearts have been won! Often quietly hidden by the joy we get from her, Kindness and sweetness, the part we now do refer. In rising to the challenge, awesome task to be done, Everyone needs special friends... Miss Cookie surely is one!!!!

  23. How much (approx) is HSLDA membership? Sis just told me her DIL is going to try homeschooling this fall. Thought I'd gather some info, web links, etc to print off for her to check on.
  24. Meat tenderizer supposed to work because enzymes break down fibers to tenderize meats. I don't use it much but ds does mainly for flavor. Also some report it as a home remedy for bee stings and jellyfish stings.
  25. It is a spice powder that comes in a small jar like other spices. We get ours at the dollar store or available at any grocery. *Reading bottle: Seasoned Meat Tenderizer. Ingredients: salt dextrose, onion, spice anatto color, paprika, garlic, (calcium silicate added to make freeflow), and bromelan (tenderizer)*
