  4. Good Job Mike! and good that you asked the question to be safe. We like it when members ask questions becuse that way we ALL get to see and hear the answers. b.t.w. IF you think one or two may not have sealed just put them in frige and use them soon. a.k.a. Michael
  5. Just check 2 Library Systems database (that is 82 Libraries total) and nobody has it. I am very sad! OK, So now at least 1 Library System has it! Lori got her Boss at the Library to let her order 1 for the system! AND THEN............................ She surprized me by getting a copy for me for Fathers Day! And even gave it to me early - BUT now she is Reading it! I wonder WHY I got it early? So remember it is a great book! and would make a great gift!
  6. good thing you bought cheese sticks . . . . . . or who knows WHAT else he may have eatten? Hope he is old enough to be in kitchen and working the stove all by himself. 3 minutes is a long time while eatting cheese sticks BUT a short time IF he spilled that pot of hot water on himself while alone?

  10. Harvest Report............................ For the wood chuck NOT ME! ALL my broccili, Most of the cerery and Most of the Brussels Sprouts!!!!!! All topped off and he even ate some of the leaves off the cabbage! #$%&%$#$ !!!!!! I seam to have this problem every year no matter what I do and it can't be the same one as after we "live trap' the woodchuck it goes for a LONG ride in the van miles away from here and into the woods! NOT HAPPY -->
  11. good all day rian here today as well! better than the other day when it poured! Had a bit over 1 inch in 20 minutes! Saturday we are off early in the morning to hit a campground (full timers) that every year puts on a BIG yard Sale in the picnic area of the park everyone get a 20 x 20 area to put they stuff in and most have tents as well. This year we have only 1 1/2 hours to hit the whoe thing as Lori has 'Youth Stamp Club' at 10:30 and I go along to help out. Our last one for the summer and we are bring extra stamps for all the kids to share.
  12. strawberries here too, and small onions, lettuce, radishes, Still have a ways to go before the big stuff starts here BUT we will be picking for Farmers Market at the Amish Farm soon and we always get to bring home the #2's if we want ( most of our canning is done that way for free). best part - the hail missed us from the storm the other day! Others in area not so lucky.
  13. Long day here too. Shopping in morning with Amish Friends then Lori went to work and I went out to gardens. Then tonight we had our 'Postage Stamp Club' that we run and had fun going through a 'grab bag' of stamps I got in the mail. Lots of goodies and Lori found a few Christmas Stamps for her collection. Also 'braided' some willow branches for the "fairy House" I am making for Lori. <---- now THAT is different!

  15. Prices are starting to climb here too. We are trying to find a cheap source for apples (Cortland) for making our apple sauce, our place to go to every year says NO apples this year due to weather problems.
  16. You guys HAVE buttons? WOW! Ours is so old (Maytag wringer washer) that all you have to do is put in clothes, homemade soap, add water from hose and pull out the start knob on the bottom. When wash is clean you just push in the knob and water goes out drain, and then put through the wringer. Put clothes back in tub, add water from hose and pull out the start knob on the bottom again, wait then put though wringer and hang outside on clothesline (IF it is not raining!) How easy is THAT?
  17. well - here is another "I can't do it" but Is there a Library near your new home? Most have internet? or maybe a coffee shop or some other place you can still get on here from time to time so we can still see how things are going with the move and all? Before you turn off computer you might want to write down some web address ( like this one!) so in case you are someplace that you can get online you already have the websites with you?
  18. NOT if you have been seeing the way people have been "misusing' coupons of late! And the store gets stuck with having to pay out of pocket for the ones that get misused. When you see people on the TV with shopping carts full of food and then checkout and pay under $25.00 - most stores look happy on the screen but hate having them shop there because they clear the shelves and then the rest of us can't buy any until the store restocks. Plus the store have all that extra work sorting coupons, restocking and having use all those bags to fill with the stuff they got for 'free' using coupons AND most get just 2 cents for each coupon back for taking them. BUT other than that - have fun!
  19. seeing you are going shopping anyway (hog dogs, paper plates, snacks, pop, etc.)- no need to lure you into the stores. AND Do you know much money they save NOT having to pay for all those inserts that most people will not even use BECAUSE it is a Holiday weekend and they are to busy doing the "Holiday Cookout" thing.
  20. weather.com said rain today! so we waited for it to come our way- and waited and waited and WAITED! but once again it passed us by. Very dry around here and we NEED rain bad! Got a call from the Amish Farm we help out at early in the mornng to see if we could take them into town to buy 'drip lines' for the strawberry patch. Things are not looking good as far as rain and the berries are starting to wilt. So we did that and now they are getting water so next week we can start picking for market.
  21. wow! didn't see that......... I guess it is one way of stopping the multi users from making copies of coupons?
  22. no rain here in a bit and no rian on the outlook for next few days! Good for those that are making hay and need to cut it, but bad for those who put in corn and nothing yet? Here at the Homestead the rain barrrels are just about empty and I am having to still hand water each day to keep things in the ground growing. Having hot dry weather is not helping things grow this early in the vegetable gardens. WE need some rain BAD!
  23. First cutting starts at the Amish Farm I help out at tomorrow but it looks like I will be helping out with the plantings instead. Fields are very dry as we have not had rain for a bit and none in near days. Here at home same thing and I have to go out and water by hand (wateringcans) each morning before heading out.
