  1. After I started the thread about the free 3-day clinic in Beckley, WV I learned that another organization in my church denomination does one to three day clinics in other areas. Here is a link to learn more about those. If you live anywhere near these locations and are not insured or are under-insured, please take advantage of this wonderful opportunity. It is completely free. https://amensda.org/missions/free-clinics Locations include McAllen, Texas this weekend, Atlanta, GA; Ocala, FL; Napa, CA; Dayton, OH; Sacramento, CA, and Eugene, OR.
  2. Thank you for doing all this! I appreciate the recall notices a lot.
  3. People can come from other cities and states that are close too. I know in Los Angeles, people came from Idaho and north Texas.
  4. You might be interested in this. The event is from July 13-15 or 16, not sure which. https://www.pathwaytohealthvolunteer.org/ This event is sponsored by my church denomination. You can read about it, watch the short videos of Los Angeles, San Francisco and San Antonio. Smaller events were also held in Chattanooga, Spokane, Oakland, CA, etc. A huge team of volunteers provide FREE health care, with no strings attached, to those who are not able to get the care they need. Please check out the site and see for yourself.
  5. Oh my! How do you live in that heat?
  6. I'm sorry. I am sure this is exceedingly frustrating. It would be for me. Do they feel that surgery is not a good option? My sister-in-law had spinal stenosis and the doctor told her if the pain became unbearable, he would consider surgery. I don't have much faith in doctors any more. I wish we had access to some alternatives. All the naturopaths or alternative medicine doctors or master herbalists seem to live in CA or NY.
  7. Thanks! I'll check that out.
  8. Wow! They even make washable doggie diapers! I don't think that's in my budget though. Thanks for the info and for the cleaning info. I think I'll try the vinegar solution.
  9. I meant to say she has become incontinent, not incontinence! Good grief, Do they seriously make dog diapers?
  10. My sweet golden/feist mix is 14 years old and has become incontinence. The vet gave her some hormone pills, 2 months worth, to see if that would help her. It's been a month and hasn't cured the problem yet. Maybe it will. But my questions are...how can I get the smell of pee out of my hardwood floors? Any suggestions on how to protect the floor from now on? Everywhere she lies down, she leaves a little puddle. Thanks!
  11. Here is a video by Majory Wildcraft about the homestead resource pile. I haven't watched it yet but thought I would go ahead and share. http://thegrownetwork.com/video-how-to-store-stuff-to-maximize-usefulness/ We definitely have several resource piles around here and need to get them organized! DH and DS are the go-to guys in our area and they almost always seem to be able to find what it takes to fix what ever it is that needs fixing.
  12. It was a 63 question quiz in a used book I bought called "Mind Waves" by Arlene Taylor and couple other folks.
  13. You can google Habitat for Humanity and then get a list of store locations. We've found some great deals there. What I'm doing today depends on several things....If DS doesn't have to pick up a denture case, I want him to help me and DD put up the pea trellis/fences. I want to plant lettuce, radishes, and whatever we can. We had a really cool spell last week. Thursday, our friends farther up the mountain got 2" of snow. It was 61 degrees yesterday and it sure felt good. There is a 20% chance of rain today.
  14. And I've found that a man in Lowes makes a very long day!
  15. Being Mother's Day, the rest of the family decided I could do whatever I wanted to all day. So right after breakfast, I weeded 30 feet of daylily row. DD fixed lunch, I came in & ate. Then I gave Mom and DD a test to see what their predominate sensory learning type is. Mom is slightly more auditory and then kinesthetic. DD is equal amounts visual and kinesthetic. After that we went for a short walk and now Mom is napping. The guys are working on a couple of lawn mowers. I want to plant my ginger root and then do some decluttering. It's a beautiful day but very windy.
  16. We have planted a few things. One row of potatoes and 2 of onion sets. It's time to get peas, lettuce, and other cool crops planted. Not in the garden but we've planted a Catawba grape, a Mount Royal semi-dwarf plum and a Lambert semi-dwarf cherry. We still have 6 trees to plant--Hosui Asian pear, Yellow Delicious apple, two native persimmons, Jefferson filbert, Duchilly filbert. Apple and pear are semi-dwarf and the filberts are naturally small. We usually plant around 19 rows of potatoes. DD1 and DSIL want to help us plant and care for stuff so they can get part of it, especially the filed corn for grits and meal and the popcorn, beets, kale and other greens. They live 3 1/2 hrs away from us and SIL's parents live 3 hrs away from then in the other direction. They will be growing the potatoes, winter squash and stuff to share with the kids. I hope this works out for them and us.
  17. Thanks o much for posting this! I read it last night and this morning and was encouraged by it. So has she finished the sequel yet?
  18. Thanks! I checked the blog but couldn't find the first ones, just later books. Lot's of foul language in the current one. and he says he's a conservative Christian! If the early books are still on the blog, how can I find them? thanks!
  19. Thanks! I meant to say that I read the first few chapters online and was trying to decide if I wanted to get it and read the rest.
  20. Has anyone read this book by Thomas Sherry? Seems like I remember a discussion about it. I read the first few chapters and it was interesting. I like the books that tell what people have and do but they always have the bad guys coming to hurt and steal. Does this one have the usual bad guys later on in the book?
  21. Wes, the apples are delicious!. You ladies have been busy! Tomorrow afternoon, my friend V and I are going to hold a natural remedies class at church. This first class will be an overview,i.e. why use natural remedies and then some ways to prevent and treat colds and flu. We are excited about it and hope to make it a monthly class or even every two weeks if there is enough interest. We would appreciate your prayers. We had sunshine all day long! The temp was in the 40s. Tomorrow's forecast says 60 but I doubt it gets that warm. We're thankful our class didn't get snowed out, at least so far!
