  1. Science was my favorite subject in school! The ones I missed were mostly sort of math related. Math was my least favorite subject.
  2. I didn't even notice any references to PETA . I was just looking at the diabetes stuff. I am a total vegetarian which is sort of vegan except I don't necessarily follow the philosophical tenets of veganism. I just don't eat animals and their products anymore., Weimar Lifestyle Center in CA reccomends a plant-based diet and they have successfully reversed neuropathy.
  3. I posted a couple of really good websites for diabetics at the beginning and nobody commented. Did anyone even look at them?
  4. No, I didn't know that! Thanks!
  5. Grape Juice. so far 14 qts of red grape juice, looks like we'll have about 2 more. Steaming some blue grapes now but will put it in the fridge and can it tomorrow morning. We still have lots of grapes on the vines.
  6. Hi! Welcome back. It sounds like you have been through a lot in the past year.
  7. That is SO cool! So many little Alene's out there and it's sad that they can't all have Cat or Cat;s daughter or someone like them to encourage them like that!
  8. I thought I posted here yesterday but it's not here. I suggested checking our Dr. Neal Barnard at www.pcrm.org. Lots of diabetes info. Also google Brenda Davis. She's a dietician who led a research study of diabetics on Marshall Islands. I don't know if she has a web site but she's written severa excellent books.
  9. 9 pints of apple slices in juice. DH was supposed to pick up some apple juice for this but he forgot. In the freezer, I found about 1/2 gallon of leftover strawberry juice (actually a mixture of apple, white grape and the juice from the strawberries where we froze some in the spring) so I used that plus some white grape. It turned out really good! These apples are from our tree. Mom thinks is a Cotton Sweet because they taste like the ones she remembers from her childhood. They are quite dry and keep their shape really well when canned. We've canned them in various flavors of juice. Last year we used Mixed Berry and Raspberry. Those were delicious. I'm gong to get some more juices tomorrow when we go grocery shopping. We have another tree that we call Banana Apple that cans up the same way. We've dehydrated red bell peppers. I think we have 4 pints dried now. And a gallon bag of dried sweet corn. Our total canned nectarines is 172 quarts.
  10. wow! I hope you are able to get it all cleaned up safely and there isn't much damage to your house.
  11. How cute! Thanks for sharing the picture and the story.
  12. That is an interesting thought. You'd think they'd be all over that!
  13. To me, de-cluttering means both putting things away and getting rid of things that I really don't want. They go to the thrift store (or someone I know that can use them) if they are in good shape or in the trash if not. In the burn pile if burnable. There is a LOT of de-cluttering that needs to be done around here too. We have the residue from three house that we are slowly dealing with--DS's dentist boss that moved to CA, DH's sister's house and his mom's house, both who passed away near the end of last year. The de-clutternig is slow because of all the gardening and putting up food that we do. Given the choice to pick and freeze the sugar peas or can the tomatoes, or de-clutter, the clear choice is to put up the food! I hope when the gardens are done, we can make some serious inroads in the clutter.
  14. lol. I've never been a fan of the if-you-don't-use-it-for-X-months-get-rid-of-it method. Like the OP said, I have many things that I only use once or twice a year. Like my Squeezo strainer for applesauce, or the chimney cleaning equipment. And the "if you need it, go buy another one" annoys me intensely. We are poor! We can't do that.
  15. I hope everything goes really well for you and your family! You too Army! I think all of us have things we wish we could get done before...whatever... We'll never be completely done with everything.

    Thyroid Help

Armyof5for God, may I PM you also? DD's thyroid is "low normal" but her doctor won't prescribe anything because it's within range and DD is so thin that the dr worries about the osteoporosis caused by the Synthroid.
