  1. I recently read and article or heard a youtube or something about making your own colloidal silver. I can't remember! Maybe it was from the Survival Summit where they have videos to watch. Or maybe it was a free ebook.
  2. Somehow I am not comforted by the assurances of the health officials. I keep thinking about the Titanic, the ship that couldn't sink.
  3. Fresh leaves are good on a sandwich, like lettuce and in a salad of course.
  4. So sorry about all this! Family can hurt us for sure. I hope your venture to Alabama turns out as perfect as can be!
  5. I dried it and it dries well. I put stems and leaves in. I planned to blend it to a powder and sprinkle on food so the stems wouldn't matter there. I also dried separate leaves. They make a pretty good snack.
  6. ISIS tried to cross the TX border? I didn't hear about that! Do you have a link to the news article? I agree, there is too much to think about! We're trying to get ready for winter, dealing with the imminent death of DH's sister plus all the stuff going on in the world. Thank God for the Bible and the knowledge that He's given us about the end times. We can know what will happen and trust in Him to see us through it.
  7. Glad you are OK! Do be careful!
  8. Thanks for the web site link! Very interesting stuff. I enjoy trying wild foods and try to try out some new ones every season.
  9. That was an interesting blog. I don't understand the need to have the cupboards emptied out though! I want mine full, even overflowing as she says, at all times! I shop for groceries once a month already. I've seen several "clear out the pantry" challenges on different frugal forums and never understood them either. I guess I just think differently. I keep my pantry and freezer stocked, I use the food I stock and I love having it fully stocked. I don't consider it "excess".
  10. I understand! I felt the same way when our oldest daughter married and moved away. We went back to northern Maine to work that summer (she got married in April, we left a couple of weeks later). She and DSIL lived in TN. We didn't have cell phones then. I cried a lot.
  11. Canning peaches today. We always get a bin (18-20 bushels) of nectarines to can but this year the entire crop was killed by frost. We only got 9 half-bushel boxes of peaches for $11 a box. Too expensive to get any more. They are delicious though. Cheapest ones we could find anywhere and had to go to West VA to get them. Around here they were $24 a box for #2s!
  12. You can just can fruit in water. The sugar doesn't have anything to do with safety; it's just for taste and texture. I can in fruit juice instead of sugar. I don't know about the sugar substitutes.
  13. So cute! Glad the surgery went well and she is home and happy.
  14. I've read a bit of it so far. It's fascinating and frightening both.
  15. So I wonder...where is the patient being transferred from, who is doing the transporting?
  16. I agree with Amy! The husband might just be talking and not mean any of what he said.
  17. Oh my! That is scary, dogmom4!
  18. That's sad about your zucchini drying up. Discouraging! Our sugar peas are blooming!
  19. I wish we were overrun with something! We got our garden out late and so far have had one cherry tomato. No beans, they are not even blooming. Neither are the sugar snap peas. Friends at church keep talking about how they are covered up with zucchini or cucumbers but not one person has offered us anything! DH's sister sent some tomatoes, cucumbers and yellow summer squash and they were delicious.
  20. I can't figure out how to open it. when I click on May the page just blinks and goes back to the same thing.
  21. Many species of birds, gray and fox squirrels, sometimes a red squirrel; mink, muskrats, raccoons, rabbits, groundhogs, opossums, deer, fox, sometimes hear coyotes but not lately. black bear (ate three hives of honey and bees), various snakes but none poisonous so far, salamanders, bullfrog, green frogs, spring peepers, and others I don't remember right now.
  22. Have you had your vitamin D checked? Deficiency can cause many of the symptoms you mentioned.
  23. Praying all continues to go well!
  24. I forgot to mention the 100% cotton underwear., including bras. It's hard to find them. I get 100% cotton lined but the outside is tricot or something else.
