  1. DH and DS went with some friends to look at a house they want to buy, then they went to another town and picked up our co-op order, so they were gone all day. I purged the kitchen cabinets. I fixed a nice supper. The men came home with avocados, mini bell peppers, celery, fruit, etc and told me that they thought I would rather have that than a bouquet of flowers. They were SO right!
  2. We have 8-9" of snow and still snowing off and on. 30 degrees.
  3. Our forecast for SW Virginia is 6-10" west of the Blue Ridge Mts (where we are) and 10-14 for the Piedmont area (down out of the mountains) Right now the sky is clear. They say we might get a couple hours of sleet before the snow. I hope nobody has to go anywhere!
  4. Well, first I cast my burdens on the Lord and He helps me bear them. Then I try to get my mind on something else. I like to read, go bird watching, organize something, sing or play the piano.
  5. I scored 3% but it said the same thing as CGA's.
  6. I'm sorry this happened to you! Years ago DH was injured by a falling tree. Some abdominal muscles were torn in two. He had the cramping problem. Whenever he would even think about moving, the muscles would respond to his brain and contract to move. They couldn't move him of course but I guess they didn't know they were not attached. I imagine the same thing is happening in your thigh. It's quite painful, he said.
  7. Hmm.. I can't quite get it. I'll have to listen and see if I hear it.
  8. Merry Christmas to you and everyone!
  9. Dropping the -ing isn't new. It's been here in the Appalachians forever! Except we wouldn't say "I'm thinkin". We would say "I'm a-thinkin" like our Scottish ancestors!
  10. It showed me in a different place that I am but fairly close. DD was near me but DH was way farther south! I clicked on his answers for him and noticed that we didn't get all the same questions.
  11. I had some type of flu a few years ago. Nearly everyone around here had it but the rest of my family didn't. It was awful. It was three weeks before I could eat without nausea. I would eat anyway because I lost 8 lbs and when you weigh 120 and are 5' 8" tall, you can't afford to loose much.
  12. Well, with housework, running up and down the stairs, walking to the mailbox and compost heap, and the exercise bike, I'm saying at least 14 miles for last week.
  13. Thanks! I just realized today that I either need to eat fewer calories or do more work! I prefer to do more work so I'll have to come up witht hings to do inside. This will be great!
  14. I think I will! Will you start a December thread? How does it work?
  15. Oh this is neat! I've never looked at these mile threads before!
  16. I think I would be leery of taking something internally that melted a wart!
  17. What a hassle. I'm glad it turned out well for you in the end.
  18. Applesauce and apple juice. Last week we canned 134 qts of sauce and 21 1/2 gallons of juice. Yesterday we canned 56 qts of sauce. We have more sauce and all the juice sitting on the porch at refrigerator temps to be canned today. We would have had more to can but we burned a pot of the sauce! it would have been about 8 qts worth. Also last week we canned 8 pints of sweet peppers and 15 pints of beets.

Bless your heart. Your mother was fortunate to have you to help her. She sounds like a special lady who raised a special son!

((((((Canned Nerd)))))) That must have been tough for you and your mother. DH's cousin can't climb stairs now; he has to crawl up them. He's gone down hill pretty quickly once it started.
