  1. That's a lot for all of you to deal with. I feel especially bad for your mother because my Mom is legally blind and it really hurts her to not be able to keep her house clean. She can't see the dirt and she can't smell the dog pee either. She works so hard and it's still not clean. I just can't bear to tell her it's not. I try to clean things when she's gone to town with her friend or whatever. Sometimes I'll say "I'm coming to clean your kitchen floor for you so you don't have to" and she'll say "Oh Honey, you don't have to do that. I can do it.". I can't tell her "No you can't!" It would break her heart. It must be really difficult for your dad to be in jail, esp. at his age. Jail is not a nice place. I'll be praying for all of you.
  2. My sister-in-law and my husband are both highly allergic to penicillin. If bread is starting to mold, even before you can see mold on it, SIL says it will make her mouth tingle. If she eats moldy bread by accident, event he one bite will cause her throat to start swelling up.
  3. Oh my! It seems like people could get in big trouble for publishing unsafe information. Maybe she posts a disclaimer though. I should just go look!
  4. Oh, you poor thing! How awful! I hope you're feeling much better now.

    I'm so sorry! Praying.
  6. I just found out about Pam a few weeks ago but was able to download quite a few useful books and magazines. I've tried searching for things like "free kindle homesteading books" and I get about 3 options and then unrelated books.
  7. Good luck and hope you'll be back soon!
  8. Oh, I forgot to mention the bloating and temporary weight gain! I get that too. Also wanted to mention that my Mom just recently found out she can't eat soy. It was causing arthritis-like symptoms of joint pain and stiffness, and muscle pain, feelings of despair (isn't that strange?), insomnia. She actually thought she was going to die soon she was feeling so badly. A friend of hers was telling her about his symptoms and how they were caused by soy so she gave it up for several days, then ate some. Symptoms returned with a vengeance no so more soy for her! I take the B12 sub-lingual tablets. DH has to take shots but so far my B12 has been good. We do get some in Red Star Nutritional Yeast Flakes. DH's brother has pernicious anemia and he eats meat. His sister also has to take shots and I believe his father did too. sis and Dad are/were vegetarian but not vegan.
  9. I understand!!! I think corn would be worse though because as you said, it's in nearly everything i n one form or another. DD2, DS and I have an intolerance to onions and all alliums, and peanut butter. At least we can recognize if there's garlic or onions in something. DS has many more allergies and intolerances besides. DH gets very sick when he eats hazelnuts or commercially dried coconut. I never want to go to any social function because there is nothing I can eat. People say just bring something you can eat. OK, I'd rather stay home and have a full meal than to go somewhere and only have one or two things to eat. We are vegan as well but most of our friends are too so that usually isn't a problem. There are a couple of ladies at church that are so kind to make us a small amount of many things they bring to potlucks and social functions without garlic and onions. I appreciate that so much! It's weird that you MIL does that! I know some of DH's relatives doubted my lactose intolerance and would "test" me with dairy in things. They saw me sick enough to believe me. It didn't take much either, even whey in a flour tortilla would do it. What are your symptoms? Mine are stomach/belly pain, loose stools, insomnia, and then for about 3 days it feels like my entire digestive tract from the stomach down is irritated. It's sore and burns. I wish I had advice for you but I just wanted you to know that I understand!
  10. That's neat! How nice that you found him and were able to talk with him.
  11. Yeah by his express I don't think he was too pleased with the speach especially when Dr. Carson gave his solution for health care. OMG I think I actually saw steam out of the POTUS ears. Oh and when Dr. Carson said we need less lawyers in DC and more doctors and educators I thought he was going to pop a button. Lol!
  12. Dr Carson has written at least 2 books, maybe more. There is a dvd of his life story too. A friend sent me a copy but I haven't had a chance to watch it yet. Gifted Hands is one book and I don't remember the other one.
  13. I noticed that too. I also noticed that he was a little delayed in the standing ovation that Dr Carson received. Maybe he thought he'd better stand since everybody else was! I couldn't really see his facial expressions unless he had a smile.
  14. This is an awesome speech. If you haven't heard jit, it's worth you time to listen to it! http://hotair.com/archives/2013/02/08/video-dr-benjamin-carsons-speech-at-the-national-prayer-breakfast/
  15. Thanks for the comments and advice! They are all in small bottles.
  16. I have some that are probably 12 or more years old. They are in dark brown bottles and two of them still have the plastic shrink wrap on them. Those two are Black Walnut and Wild Yam. The two that have been opened areOregano Oil and Eucalyptus. Do you think they're still good?
  17. hillfarm, I'm sorry you are struggling right now. I know that feeling! it will get better, just hang on. I'll be praying for you.
