  1. Hope you are having a great birthday Canned Nerd!!
  2. Thanks Cat and dogmom4. I never could get the link to copy.
  3. For some reason I could only get the link to paste in the topic title box! (Edited by Cat even though dogmom4 pasted it, so that I can re-title it for info.) http://www.wmctv.com/story/25387440/a-look-ahead-mid-south-man-fights-to-survive-after-one-bad-bite?
  4. Stephanie shared this recipe with me several years ago. She mills her own whole grain flour and uses coconut oil. The recipe is really good just like it is though! I think I will make some tomorrow!

  6. I know everyone has their favorite side dishes for the turkey and ham. My family always wants me to make the Squash Dressing and the Eggplant Casserole. I just took them out of the oven. I have a huge family, and I love our big get together every year. I felt kinda sad this morning thinking about the ones that we lost since last Thanksgiving. But the Lord reminded me about the sweet little one born in our family last week. And we are looking for 2 more at any time! " ...the Lord gave, and the Lord hath taken away; blessed be the name of the Lord." We are so blessed my friends. Every day should be Thanksgiving! Happy Thanksgiving everybody!!!
  7. Glad you liked them Pauline! I got lumabean's and A05's. Both very pretty. I can't wait to put up my little Mrs S tree!
  8. Happy belated birthday Pigz! Sometimes I even miss my own birthday! HaHa
  9. Mine went out today! Hope everybody enjoys them.
  10. Got Snowmom's ornament today. Very nice, thank you!
  11. Even if I can't watch the water boiling, that Ball stainless steel canner has been worth every penny I paid for it. I always use it to cook my Annies Salsa for canning. I usually can at least 100 pints every year if I'm able. I cook 4 recipes at a time in that pot, and it has the double layer bottom so the salsa don't stick! (I have scorched it before using other thin bottom pots!) We love Annie's salsa at our house! It even makes eggbeaters taste good.lol I use a jar in my chili and vegetable soup too! Not even counting Mexican rice, burritos, tacos...
  12. I posted this link for info only! I would not buy it, even if I did have money to waste! I did spend $40 on Ball's stainless steel WBC when it first came out though. I splurged on that because of the clear lid with vent holes.(and I was tired of the granite ones rusting) I always hated to lift the lid to peek and see if the water was still boiling. Sadly though, the lid steams up so badly you can't see if the water is boiling or not. I have 3 of the small canners for pints and I love them. So much easier and quicker to do 7 pints.

  14. Happy Anniversary to Momo and DH!
  15. I like watching Linda, but in one chili bean video she used dry beans (not soaked or boiled first) and in another one she did prepare the beans right, but then she added random amounts (looked like about 1/2 cup) of raw onions and peppers. Violet said that it isn't safe to start with dry beans or add low acid veggies (only dried).
  16. I never thought of using them on chili dogs! DH agrees to do a taste test for lunch today. He thinks it will be good- he loves hot dogs! Let you know how it turns out.
  17. Love it! Wish we would do that again.
  18. I'm with Homey. It's just so simple to set them over in the canner to keep them hot until needed.
  19. I went ahead and processed them for 90 mins to be sure. I did some when the recipe was first posted and they are very good. My bunch loves chili so this saves me a lot of money! Dh sampled the jar that didn't seal and he said they were good enough to eat right out of the jar. I agree! Another 5 lbs soaking tonight.
  20. Happy Birthday! So glad you're back!
  21. Happy birthday a little late...
  22. I looked on NCHFP to get a processing time for these beans, and they say 90 mins for plain dry beans but beans in tomato sauce are processed 75 mins. Since these are in tomato sauce would you process them for 75 mins.?
