Watcha doing today?

Recommended Posts

I'll walk in a few minutes as it is already 80 degrees and 92% humidity. Get that done!
Go clean baths at Church and sweep up for tomorrow.
Not sure what else I will find (inside).

Is that a trombocino squash like Littlesister grew?  I have the seeds but haven't planted yet.

That Tromboncino squash is something else. I picked 4 more about 2 ft. long. I had to move the small green house as it was growing up and all around that. Couldn't get to the squash for the greenhouse. The plants are overloaded, and it is only 2 plants. I am going to be working on a better trellis for it in the early fall. Got everything transferred to my new phone. Just have to turn in my old phone. Still need to go to T-Mobile and Home Depot and I don't have the energy to go. My DD has kept me on phone most of the morning. We are making the arrangements to get GS moved into his apartment. I can't wait to get everyone's stuff out of my house. It is everywhere and DD ordered a desk for GS that will be staying in my house for a week before he moves. I don't know where I will be able to put it. But will figure it out. I feel like I have a hoarder's house right now with all of GS's stuff boxed up everywhere and DD has a couple of boxes here also.

Just sitting at desk drinking a cup of coffee and texting back and forth with DD. She is trying to get everything she has for GS packed and on trailer for the 25th when he moves out. They are keeping the trailer in garage so all they will have to do on the 25th is hook up and pull out to come here.

I guess I should just go ahead and take down the greenhouse for hurricane season. I don't want it to get torn up. It's old but still works.

Oh my Annarchy! I'm so sorry your DH was going through his medical issues!  :hug3:

I hope he is much better by now and that you are taking care of your health too! Remember that you can't take care of him when he needs it the most if you are down sick too. Kinda sad when the driving factor concerning out own health is because we want to take care of others first and not ourself. I get it though. I'm the same way. Get everyone else healthy first and then take care of myself. Must be a woman thing.

I agree Jeepers I think it is a woman thing. I let myself go while taking care of my DH. Wasn't the best thing to do but he came first in my book. And I don't regret it.

Went to Home Depot and got the paint for the bedroom closet. I got a gal. since I do have other closets I will be painting at a later date. 2 hall closets that also have never been painted but I won't have to do all that work to prepare them for painting like I did the bedroom closet. That closet was the worst. Loaded with nail holes. I still need to sand down where I filled those in, and I think I will be read to paint after that.  On the way home I found a new Thrift store I am going to check out later. Didn't look like it had been there long. So might be interesting to see what they have.   Went to Hallmark to pick up a couple of things I wanted for baby shower. Then came home and rested a bit and have now started dinner. That is in oven so should be ready in about an hour. Might go ahead and sand down the closet after dinner and kitchen is cleaned back up. Shouldn't take that long to get that done and then vacuum up the mess.

Jeepers, glad you made it home safe and hope you got a lot done at the new house. Sometimes I feel like I am the one moving with my house being overrun by everyone else's stuff. But just 2 more weeks and I will have my house back. I am so ready.

I had a good time. G-son is a hoot. But I'm glad to be back "home". I hate that trip. It kills my back.

I took the scenic route over there. I missed my exit and got in a mess. I was on a 5-6 lane highway headed into Chicago. I stopped at one gas station and they gave me the wrong directions. I ended up in 'gulp' Gary, Indiana. I must have 'shot the loop' twice because that is how many times I saw the exit sign to go visit the "Jackson Five" home. Lawsy. I was sweating bullets. I stopped in another gas station that was sort of in a shopping plaza and asked for directions again. When I went in I couldn't find the cashier. Turned out two ladies were behind a glassed in case. Probably bullet proof. But they were so good to me. They took my phone and typed in directions and a voice came over the phone and told me every step of the way on how to drive out of there. I hate to admit it but the reason I missed my exit was because I was engaged in an interesting conversation with myself. I'm getting bad about that. Especially in the car alone. My granny was a self talker too. I/we have detailed conversations.

If you ever need instructions on how to move boxes from one side of the room to the other, I'm your girl. I'm moving two houses and it seems like that's all I get done. I guess if things are piled up in one corner instead of strewn about the room, then I think I've accomplished something. Sigh. I did get a couple of pictures hung up and some Amish hats on the dinning room walls. One book case filled and another shelf thing started. And the filthy floors mopped.

I thought I might help son with their packing etc. but their closing date has been pushed back to Sept. I think D-ex wants to have the inside painted before they move in anyway so it's liable to be into Sept. before they get moved. I'm thinking I'll be better off used fixing up the old house getting it ready to sell. DIL TRIED to paint two rooms. I know her hands are bad with arthritis but dang! And she goes for primary colors on the walls. Bright aqua in the kitchen. It'll probably take three coats of paint to cover it all. Probably will have to paint the woodwork too. Her taping method didn't work out too well either.

I had a phone conference with the lawyer. He took all of my info and had me come in the next day and pick up the papers. I just had to take them to the government building right down the street and file them. I had to go to four different steps to get them filed. It was very easy though and they all were helpful. It was all in the same building. $25.00 later I was out of the building with a copy of the TOD. They are mailing the legal stamped one this week. It was so easy.  I figured I'd have to make a couple of trips or sign something electronically or be notarized.

They got the exit ramps to Shipshewana fixed. I figured I'd try that phone direction lady. If it worked I'd go to Shipshe. If it didn't I'd go on home. Wonder of wonders, I got it t work. That thing is amazing! Quite a bit has changed over there. There isn't the shopping like there used to be. My main goal was to go to Yoders and to Lolly's quilt store. The quilt store was nice but no great shakes. Lots of pretty fabric but not many pre-cut packs. Not that I need any anyway. Yoder's has changed but still good. Almost like an old fashion hardware store. But their fabric section is still pretty amazing. They have a special quilt pattern made especially for Yoders. I can't really describe it. It's called Row By Row.  You make wide rows and them applique a figure on it. Then another row with an applique on it etc. Wish I would have taken a picture of it. Anyway I bought a couple of the rows to make. Will let ya know if I can get it to turn out. I've never appliqued before.

I got a text that they are starting to work on the outside of the house and they have brought a dumpster over for the vanities and sinks and toilets. We'll see. I'm not going over until Monday when my mail gets delivered again. The thrill is gone and I'm getting to the 'whatever' stage. Appliances should arrive on the 16th. The outside and appliances all on me. Thats why they are getting done so soon.  :pout:  Time to call the lawn guy this week to install the shrubs. I'm assuming I have water in the garage.

Off to watch some news, take some Advil and fire up the heating pad.

Sounds like you had a nice trip Jeepers. I can't wait to get this house back together and take off for a few days. I really want to head up to Madison Hights and Lynchburg area to visit with my cousins. We are all up in age now and haven't seen each other in a long while. Hopefully in September I can make that trip.

Next year when GS gets a vacation, he wants me to go with him to the mountains. Just might take him up on that. But will see what happens next year.

Didn't get the closet painted today. Woke up with my neck all messed up as well as my shoulder. Went to put my shoes on and got really dizzy. Room spinning around was really bad. Got neck straightened out again but took most of the day to do it. I can now turn it in both directions and shoulder is still sore but not hurting as bad. Tomorrow is another day. I think I must have slept on it wrong. I've done that before but not this bad.

Everyone must be having a busy day. Hope the week goes well for everyone.

Jeepers thanks for sharing the pics looks like a cool place to visit. Littlesister glad your neck is straightened out now that sounds like it was miserable :hug3:

Yesterday was my quilt guild day and I spent the afternoon visiting my friend who goes with me to guild. She is 82 and lonely so I felt the extra time was important.

Today I pretty much did laundry all day as well as putting away a bunch of things I had let get cluttered downstairs this week.

Waiting for traffic to die down and for T-Mobile to open so I can go turn in my old phone. I got the Z-flip phone, and it is a nice one. I think I will like this one much better than the old one.

When I get back, I will start painting the closet. Just have to change clothes and put on my old painting clothes. I think they have every color we ever painted the house on them. The closet is ready for paint, it's just the painting and letting it dry now.  Then I can start working on that room and getting it ready for painting. Though I will hire someone to do that part. Might have to wait till GS moves out though as he sleeps on the couch in den. I don't need people going back and forth through the den while he sleeps. But he will be in his own apartment on the 25th. So not that much longer.

Walked early this morning.
Nurse has already been here for DH. Including today, he has 4 more days of IV antibiotics as long as blood work is good.
CT scan for kidney stone in a bit for me.
Aldi and Walmart for a few things.
Only 4.5 hours sleep last night, so maybe nothing this afternoon!

I think I am as excited for your GS to have his own apartment as you are, Littlesister!

Try and stay cool today!  I'm so tired of this heat!  Can't get our house cooler than 84 during the day.

Miki, I will be so nice to have my house back. It has been well over 3 years with one or the other moving in or out. I haven't been able to really clean this house like it needs. But it won't be much longer.  The desk my DD ordered for GS arrived this afternoon. So now that is sitting in the foyer. Nice, I can barely get through to the front door. Gotta love it.

Got the closet painted below the 2 top shelves. So just have to get on step stool to reach above the shelving. That is going to be fun. I couldn't get the shelves down. Don't know how DH had put them up there and they are the wire ones. He might have them screwed in on the sides. Will be able to see what is going on once I can get the foot stool out of the living room and to the bedroom. Hoping I can get them out. But right now, waiting for walls to dry below the shelves first. Had a couple of interruptions while painting. My financial planner called and said he never got the signed papers nor the voided check that I sent him 2 weeks ago. So, had stop painting in hopes the brushes didn't dry up and print out another copy and pull out another check to take to UPS to fax to him. So here I am in old beat-up clothes I wear for painting and crafts and even though I washed my hands I had paint on them still. Ran down to the UPS store got them faxed and I know I must have looked like a site for sore eyes. My arm is starting to hurt up near the shoulder so needed the break right now. Took Advil trying to get a head start on it. But at least my neck is not hurting now. I am thinking I might have bursitis or tendinitis again. So might just need to take the Advil or something for inflammation for a few days instead of only when it starts hurting. I might still have some antinflamatory  pills left from before. Will need to check on that. I know I need to do something. Just trying to not have to see doctor sooner as I have an appointment next month anyway.

I know all about messes Littlesister.  :hug3:

Hopefully by this time next year these messes will all be behind us and we can find some new messes to get into. Change of scenery.  :D

On a plus side, we have been honing our problem solving and decision making skills.  Whoop-tee  Dooo,  huh!

BTW, did you ever get that piece of furniture you ordered around the time of covid? They kept pushing back the delivery date.  I think it was a dresser. Could be mistaken about that.

Yes, it was 2 dressers and a TV stand. It took forever but I did get it. That was the rest of my bedroom suit. The only room in the house that is now fixed up. My pantry was all fixed up and clean but had to stack books in there and then drag a bookcase in there as well. But That will be an easy fix once I get that bedroom done. That is the bookcase that is going in the closet. Waiting for paint to dry as I have to figure out how to get those 2 long wire shelves out. Too hard to paint the upper part of the closet with those in there.

Jeepers, I think we have both had our patients tried and have learned skills we never thought we would need. Problem solving is a must. And decision skills are now getting really honed in. It has been years since I have painted a room. But glad I can still do it. Getting that project started was slow going but once I got started it was moving right along.

Now to figure out those 2 shelves. They must come out.

Hope you were able to get the shelves out Littlesister!

Miki hope the CT shows the stone isn't causing any serious issues

Jeepers I really hope by this time next year you have peace and are in your new place with this whole mess behind you.

Today I made Mock Pineapple and it was a lot of fun to try something new. cooked  2 qts squash diced into tidbit sized chunks in 24 oz pineapple juice, 3/4 c lemon juice, and 1 1/2 C. sugar and then pressure canned it for 90 minutes. I got 2 quarts and it smells amazing in my kitchen. Looking forward to using it for pineapple upside down cake or something yummy this winter.

That sounds really good Becca_Anne! I like pineapple a lot and it's so good for you but if I eat more than 2-3 rings of it, it hurts my mouth. It hurts pretty bad actually. Substituting the actual pineapple for squash sounds like a good alternative. Thanks for the recipe!

Becca Anne that sounds really good.  Thank you for that recipe. Might be trying that when things die down around here.

So much to do and so little time. But it will all get done in good time.

I did get those 2 shelves out and will be finishing up the painting in the closet soon. Got up this morning dizzy again. So, trying to figure out what is going on. Last time this happened the doctor brushed it off. So, I have really got to take the time to find a new doctor. This is getting to be ridiculous. Lifeline screening called yesterday evening. I had just done that last year, but she said she wanted to recheck the carotid artery. So going to call her back today and redo that test. Not sure if it has anything to do with the dizziness or not but might be better to just redo that test. Not getting any younger and I have a doctor that is not very good anymore. He just doesn't seem to care and will no longer listen to you when there is a problem. This all started with him after covid.

Glad you got those two stubborn shelves out.

I had that Life Line can done for the first time a couple of months ago. I liked it and it was so easy. They seemed to be thorough too. She took a long time on my ankles. I only got the scans and not the blood work. I can get that done at the doctors office free with Medicare. Mine came out pretty good but they found a slight blockage in my right arm. I told the doctor and he didn't seem concerned about it. He said the Metformin I'm on should take care of it. Or maybe he said it was the statin I'm on. Either way, I don't think so.

Jeepers and Littlesister, is the Life Line scan covered by Medicare?  Or how much does it cost, if not?

Thank you for the recipe Becca Anne!

I guess I will find out what was on the scan next Monday at follow up appointment with doc.

I walked first, this morning.
Walked dogs.
Still have appointment to wash dog snot off front window where they look out. LOL
Shred cheese and put in baggies.
Re-connect hose so I can start watering roses and maybe save them.
That's about it for today.  I'm tired.  Not enough sleep.

Miki, unfortunately it isn't covered by Medcare. I paid right at $140.00. They offer all kinds of testing like diabetes etc. But Medicare will cover that at your doctors office with routine lab/blood work.

I liked it because they scanned my carotid artery also that artery in your stomach that can erupt. Abdominal aortic aneurysm. To me, those two test alone were worth it. But they also check the arteries in both of your arms and both of your legs.

Miki the lifeline screening is not covered by any insurance. You pay out of pocket for it. It cost $149 for 5 tests. Those tests are carotid artery, heart rhythm, kidney disease, peripheral arterial disease and abdominal aortic aneurysm. You can order other test but at an additional cost. I called them back this morning and decided to go ahead and do the test this year. Normally I don't it every year but every 3 years, but doctors are not allowed to do test unless you are showing signs or having issues. though I am having issues and my doctor seems to have forgotten how to listen to patients. Still trying to find a good doctor and it is harder than I thought it would be. Not many good ones around. But he will find out I am going to get those referrals to both a heart doctor and the Endo doctor. I already have the info on the ones I want to see. I am having lifeline do the full Thyroid blood test also. I know I am having issues there and that also was ignored by my doctor. I am so over this. Time to take action.

Got up this morning dizzy. Took B/P 219/107. That is bad. I have done nothing I need to do today. Got B/P down to 127/78 but still not feeling right. Checked my sugar levels and that was high. 209. Took the metformin and now that is back down to 100. Ate salad but no salad dressing at all last night for dinner. I make my own dressing as the ones in store is not good for a diabetic. I need to make up some more salad dressing soon.  I hate taken metformin as it makes my stomach hurt. But I went back on it for now as I had to get off that Trulicity. To many side effects. A few years ago, I was having dizzy spells and went to the doctor, and he ignored it. Whatever it was the issue stopped and I just put it behind me and now here we go again, and I am not going to ignore. it this time. Something is going on.

So did not get anything done other than to load the dishwasher and get that taken care of. Just resting today. This too will pass in time. I think I really need to get back on my schedule that I used to be on before DH passed away. I haven't been able to do that with the kids in and out all the time. But just waiting for the 25th to roll around and that ends it. DD and her DH will be responsible parents and help the kids out. I really don't think it should be the responsibility of the grandparents to help them in the manner that I have had to do. I am just too old for all the issues with these children. But on a good note, my GS has come a long way from when he first moved in with me almost 2 years ago now. He is in a much better position to live on his own now, but still needs to learn about budgeting. But he is going to learn the hard way on that one and his mother will be the one he needs to call for help not me.

I can't believe I spent the entire day on Pinterest. It's 4:00pm and I'm still in my night gown.  :sEm_blush:   I use my DIL's account as I wouldn't sign up for it.  I have a very small entryway going into the Indy house and I'm looking for ways to make it a little more appealing. Not much I can do with it but I got a couple of ideas. Then I only have a laundry closet over there. Very tiny but I saw where a couple of painted wall cabinets and a shelf can make it look better. Then I clicked on quilt patterns....sigh.

Sounds like everyone is doing ok, but be sure to ask around and find a new Dr if you're not happy with the care you're getting. I get concerned about you all when I hear your Dr isn't on the ball. I need you all to stay healthy ok?:hug3: Glad your BP came down Littlesister. That Lifeline screening is well worth the cost.

Really nothing much to report today just worked and harvested a few pumpkins and a butternut squash from the garden. My Squash are almost done and I think I'll pull out all the vines this weekend and re-plant with some cool weather crops before it's too late.

Finished painting the closet this morning. :cheer: B/P is back to normal as well as my Blood sugar counts. But as for the dizziness, it is still there but only if I bend over to pick something up. I have a short list of doctors I am checking out also. I have been looking around for a good doctor for a few months. It is not easy to find a good one around here. But working on it. I am hoping the leads I got this time will turn up a good doctor.

Becca Anne, my squash is about done as well. I now have more to can, but I think that is the end. There might be 2 or 3 plants I am leaving for another week or two as those 3 are in bloom again but the rest are doing nothing now. Cucumbers are still going. Late start but now producing well. Tomatoes are still going as well as okra and eggplant. Not going to get enough eggplant to do a lot with but will make eggplant parmesan to freeze for winter meals. If there is enough, I will fry some up for GS.

Will be doing some packing up for GS as he has a mess all over the place. My DD said she has some curtains for his apartment, and I forgot to ask how many. Don't know how many windows he will have but it is a second-floor apartment and 2 bedrooms. I am going to check to see if I have any also. That means I must get into that shed soon.  Hoping for a cool day soon.

It feels like it has been a long day, already.
Walked first.
Got sweet potato slices dehydrating in the oven.
Shredded a big block of cheddar for future use.
Plunged my tub and bathroom sink drain.
Still need to blow leaves off front porch.
And package sweet potato slices when they are done.

Got all the paint stuff cleaned up and put away.  Then I got cleaned up and went to store. Came home and cleaned kitchen and then started some dinner. I am beat. I think I have a painter to paint the rest of the house. I am waiting till all the kids have their stuff out of here and GS is in his apartment. I need to get things in place and do some catchup cleaning first.  Then I can have this guy come in and start painting after I get a price from him. I know who he is, and he has done a lot of work for people around both neighborhoods. He is good at what he does but I need to get a quote. I don't do by the hour on painting but by the room or job.
