  1. It's in the high 30's today, first time in a long time. We are getting some melting. Yay!
  2. I've made brownies with applesauce in place of the oil. I wonder how these would taste with an egg and the pumpkin? That might make them better?
  3. I scored 24% and it said the same thing as CGA's.
  4. baked ham and sweet potatoes, no bread...trying to cut carbs a bit. I cooked it in the oven so it would help keep the house warm...it's cold here!
  5. Thanks - I haven't seen jelly sealed that way since I was a child. Now I know why,...
  6. I remember opening jelly jars sealed with paraffin. Is that still done anymore?
  7. Such a blessing - thank you for sharing your story with us.

    Dry Skin

It gets very dry in the winter here...we started using almond oil &/or coconut oil instead of lotion before you go to bed. That has really helped. I also use it when getting out of the shower in the morning.
  9. I am off today...need to give the house a good cleaning. Did a quick Wal-Mart run this morning. Yeah...a real vacation day! LOL
  10. I have thought of buying the cheese powder, but I wasn't sure my family would like it. How does your family like the kind you bought mommato3boys?
  11. Great idea...I'm going to purchase a juice carton too!

    Laundry soap

That is very similar to the recipe I use..borax, fels naptha, A&H super washing soda and oxy clean.
  13. We had a mobile home about 20 years ago. We purchased it new, it was basic nothing fancy although we did have a natural gas furnance and central air. We sealed around all the plumbing right after setting it up on our own lot. A cemement pad would have been nice, however we used piers and also had tie downs for winds. Our home had a pitched roof with shingles. This prevented a lot of the "sound" issues many of you have mentioned. We lived there for about 2 years and then moved. We did have heat tape on the pipes etc. and did not have any issues with freezing. I do think the ones made in the last 20 years are better built than those from the 70's as long as you get all the gaps around the pipes closed.
  14. I have my grandmother's skillet, which my mom used and has since handed down to me. We had it sandblasted because it was in storage for a while too. It's been reseasoned and it works perfectly.
  15. Dogs don't understand divorce. He was once his master - right?
  16. The average price for Turkey was about .79/lb here around the holiday's. Pork loin is between 1.77 - 1.98/lb and whole chicken is .99/lb. Beef hasn't been on sale....
  17. I love when you post these sales Dee. Sometimes I miss the Fareway flier. If you misse that sale, Hy-Vee has whole boneless pork loins for $1.88 lbs thru Oct 8. Not quite as good of a deal, but I think any meat under $2.00/lbs is a good deal.
  18. Condolences to your and your family on the loss of your mother in law. Big congratulations on the new job and being able to stock again.
  19. Your plant wall looks great pippenwycks! I"m sure it gives you some privacy and yet isn't a wall. Another idea is to build a pergola and add some shade screen on the top and lattic side pannel with plants etc. Set a couple of chairs up so it looks like a cozy plac to have your tea/coffee. The shade screen and lattic pannels will still provide some privacy in the winter too It will also provide shade and coverage from anyone looking above you too an extent. Good luck!
  20. I remember watching an episode of "to Catch a Thief" or somethng along those lines last summer. They are "reformed" professional burglers, that simulate a robbery of the owners home and it's video tapped. The homeowner approves before hand then the show provides them with a security assessment and installs security devices for them. In the show I watched they found all but one hiding spot the owners had used. Just something to think about. . .
