  1. I went for little bit last night - most of the shoppers must have been done early in the day...by 7:00pm the mall wasn't too busy. Stopped at Wal-Mart after a late dinner with my DH and it wasn't busy at all. We were able to get a few deals and no crowds.
  2. I will miss her posts, but I'm rejoicing that she has gone home!
  3. Jeepers - my sister-in-law uses cooking oil to light the charcoal for her grill. I haven't tried it, but it may save you a trip to the store.
  4. I haven't tried the Keystone meat products at Wal-Mart, but they may be worth a look. I bought a can to try yesterday - it was 28 oz of ground beef for $6.50. These are also sold on Amazon and a the keystonemeats.com. The ingredients are beef and sea salt, processed in Ohio. I haven't tried it yet - lots of reviews on Amazon.
  5. These have good reviews on Amazon. I ordered one to try.
  6. I recently got an electric Simply Ming pressure cooker for $99.00. We've only cooked a few items in it so far, but I do like. We did 6 ears of corn on the cob in 8 minutes and we've done a few meats. I can manually vent mine once it's done and release the pressure quickly, then serve the food. I haven't done a lot on it yet. There are a lot of youtube videos for pressure cooking. Good luck!
  7. Homemade chicken noodle soup - It sounded good with the weather we've had. It's snowed for the last 24 hours with about 12 inches of snow on the ground now.
  8. I'm not a fan of the pouches either! They don't stack. Sass - if you're able to get to Plattsburgh once in awhile, they have a very nice Aldi's store. I stopped there while visiting the area this summer.
  9. We're using our essential oils and new to us this year are using Elderberry syrup. Son & I were feeling under the weather a couple of weeks ago and used the oils and syrup...we didn't get a full blown case of anything. I bought Elderberries to make my own syrup when this bottle is gone. I was surprised at how quickly it worked!
  10. My prayers are with both of you that your get well and things get better. It easy to fall into the pit of discouragement, I'm glad you're both fighting that. Things will get better.
  11. How fun - thanks for sharing your day with us!
  12. Beef is getting very high. In the last 2 weeks, I've found beef roast on sale for 4.00/lb. I bought a couple and put in the freezer. This week I found chicken legs/thighs on sale for .88/lb and .69/lb. Got a couple of packages of both. The chicken off sets the beef...sort /kinda.... Hoping for some good thanksgiving sales!
  13. We made grilled chicken, baked beans, cottage cheese and potato salad. Taking advantage of the summer like weather this weekend!

    OK

My thoughts exactly - great real life learning experience!
  15. Tea Tree oil is a natural anti-fungal. I would mix a couple drops with an equal amount of coconut oil or another carrier oil...even olive oil if that is all you have and then try a test patch. Mixed with the carrier oil it shouldn't sting.
  16. You can get battery operated fans at Wal-mart in the camping section. It's not a long term solution, but would keep air moving as long as you have batteries. The cooling towels that you wet down and drape over your neck work great. My DH takes his golfing and it helps to keep him from overheating.
  17. Thanks for posting - I didn't know this, but I'm putting a zip tie in the emergency released today!
  18. Kale is good roasted - we like to roast veggies - whatever root veggies, squash etc. on hand with garlic and a bit of olive oil and salt & pepper...350 for 30 - 40 min.
  19. Darlene - your soaps look amazing! I won't be able to make it this year, but when your esty shop is up and running please let me know.
  20. I want that magic 30#fix too!
  21. Welcome back - I'm sorry for your loss.
  22. Fareway a Midwest grocery store has the 10# tubes of ground beef on sale for $2.99/lb this week. I bought one & made patties will go back at the end of the week and get another one to make 1 lb blocks and freeze.

    DIY Rain Barrels?

My rain barrel came from a local car wash...the soap they used comes in the barrels. We washed it good and use it in the spring/summer to collect rainwater for the garden.
  24. Love this! A special bond exists between grandparents and grandchildren.
