  1. Poor little fella. That would have scared the stuffin' out of me! Hope he never gets another one.
  2. O-O-T-O, I hope you get relief soon
  3. Hi Catlady 1 WELCOME, WELCOME, WELCOME There is so much to learn here. If you have any questions just jump right in and ask away. Someone usually has an answer or can point you in the right direction.
  4. Hi eeyorespie and WELCOME aboard! Glad you are here.
  5. When my son questions me about something to do with canning I tell him, "I can can swamp water but that doesn't make it safe to eat."
  6. Dee and Kam, I'm sure you will enjoy it as much as much as I did! I learned about the value of having a few electrical/battery tools even if there is no more electricity. TMC, that really made an impression on me.
  7. Sending prayers to you and your family!
  8. Hi Mum of 3 WELCOME, WELCOME, WELCOME!!! So glad you and your husband found us and are joining in.
  9. Hugs and prayers to Christy and to all who need them here...including me. I don't regret seeing 2011 gone. It was a difficult year for a lot of us. I hope 2012 will be easier for all of us. I try to stay optimistic for this new year but I can't help feeling impending doom. I understand Christy and CGA. The many years I trudged to the laundry mat in all kinds of weather makes me thankful for my washer and dryer at home too. They are so old that I'm truly thankful whenever they offer up one more load. My sink was broken from Thanksgiving to Christmas. Was I ever glad to be able to do my dishes again when my son fixed it! None of that is earth shattering but it did make me mindful of what I have and take for granted. Coming here lets me know I'm not alone in my struggles. I love you's guys. <-----------probably hormonal again
  10. And Hi to you too Four Boys! Glad to have you here.
  11. Hi Fouber and WELCOME! Sorry I missed your post. I forget to look UP here sometimes.
  12. Forgot to add: You made me rethink the value of electric tools!
  13. I loved it!!! I won't give anything away either but I was glad how it ended. Also, I really liked how your take on 'would you turn anyone away' (like the thread in the RURR forum) turned out. The church scene. I'm trying hard not to give anything away. But I liked that! And their walkie-talkie 'discussion'....great idea to plan out. You did a wonderful job!
  14. I got you ordered. Can't wait til it gets here. Hope I don't have company when it arrives.
  15. Hi Glad to hear your DW is better. Sounds like she had a good caretaker. Sometimes life happens and we gotta do what we gotta do. I think we have all dipped into our supplies at one time or another and was glad we had them. Welcome back!
  16. I am sooooo proud of you! You said you were a girly-girl and you sure are. I see you are as beautiful on the outside as you are on inside. My heart is just bursting with joy for you right now! Thank for coming out. I put your book in my wish list for right now and will actually go 'shopping' when I get finished here. I like to get enough in my wish list bin to get a deal on shipping. I'll make it happen tonight. I'm so excited for you!!!!

    DIY Faraday cage idea

Thank you, Thank you, Thank you! I'm going to make one right after Christmas. I already have some extra packing boxes (that I was going to pitch) that I can use for the innards.
  18. Sewandsew, no such thing as a stupid question around here! I was wondering too and waiting for someone else to answer. I always have it in my head that things should be bone dry even though I know fruits like raisons, prunes etc. are sticky-ish when dried. Thanks Violet!
  19. Mt. Rider, Wormie pops in from time to time yet. A good thing we have him too as he keeps us posted on all of the recalls. I wouldn't know half of them if it wasn't for him. Gunplumber, the original post was from 2002 and we have learned a lot since then. I think all men are welcome here as long as they play well with others. I value your male opinion cause I think like a woman and sometimes forget the other half's way of looking at things.
  20. Gunplumber, I'm very glad you are here! You hit the nail on the head when you talked about us all overlapping each other with knowlege. I usually know just enough about a subject to be dangerous. As a woman, a male perspective is welcome. Especially since I'm going through menop....oops.
  21. Lucky you Andrea! I've never had kiwi jam but I really like the fresh ones.
  22. Sewandsew, don't give up canning. It's definitely worth it. Once you get the hang of what is safe and what isn’t safe, you will be fine. I’ve had to relearn some things too. And things do change. If in doubt…ask here first. Violet is a wealth of information and a huge asset. Along with others of course.
