  1. Ruby Tuesday = Never met a Stones song I didn't like. Did you know I sang back up to Mick? Okay, I was at a concert 11 rows back but I was singing...and so was he. And while Keith was playing his guitar, my air guitar was also in fine form. And Charlie and I was keeping beat on the drums. And yes, Ronnie and I kept the rhythm going for them all. My Bucket list got a lot of checks that night. Sometime I'll tell you about the time I danced with Tina Turner complete with wig. At my family reunion. Guess who grew up in the 60's?
  2. HAPPY BIRTHDAY I've missed you too!
  3. One of my cousins got her AOL account hacked today. Everyone in her edress book got an email saying she was stuck in Spain and was robbed at gun point. She needed 1,500 GBP ($2,400) for taxi fare and to pay the hotel bill. No one really fell for it especially since they didn't say where to send the money. Yeah, we are a smart bunch we picked right up on that! Note to self, if scamming for money set up a place to send it. I called her as soon as I got the email to make sure everything was okay. She answered the phone saying, "I'm not in Spain but you can send the money anyway!" She said about all the family and her friends had called her today. So, actually whomever tried to hurt her did her a favor. She got to visit with everyone on the phone in her jammies without leaving her house or enduring Aunty's green jello salad with carrots, marshmallows and Miracle Whip.
  4. Jori, you can download all of the free Kindle books onto your computer. You can load any free ebook including all the Amazon ebooks free or paid ones. That's what I did. I'd still be doing that if my son hadn't bought me a Kindle reader for Christmas. Or did you mean you want a kindle device? I understand that too. I wouldn't have bought myself one but now I'm glad my son did. I have tons of free books. I lost the link I had but this one will probably get you there. It's safe. http://www.amazon.com/gp/feature.html/ref=kcp_pc_mkt_lnd?docId=1000426311
  5. The man can can! Lucky you!!!! Sounds like a keeper to me.
  6. I remember the Mammas and Pappas...when they first came out! Not 'came out' but started singing. I liked their music too. I liked when Mamma Cass sang, 'dream a little dream of me'. That's probably not the title of the song. It started out beautiful here today. As soon as I got in the Walmart parking lot the sky opened up and the rain poured down. By the time I came out of the store, the sun was shining. Went to Lowes and as soon as I parked the car the rain started again. I came out and it was shinning. Went to the UPS store and...you guessed it...raining again. I'm home now and staying put. Luckily, I always carry an umbrella in the car. I saw the moon and it was beautiful. I like looking at the moon too. It amazes me that something that big hangs there all bright and shiny. Love the full moons except when we have one I have trouble sleeping. Today I'm going to finish cleaning out the rest of the kitchen cabinets. The drawers are all finished and onward and upward to the cabinets. It will be mess I know, but I need more room. Still watching and worrying about the baby hawks and eagles on line. Sunday I found some herons. Gads, I'll be so glad when all of my babies grow up and leave the nest. I can drive myself crazy and find so many time wasters in so many ways. Blessings to all my prepper family here and hope this is the start to a wonderful week.
  7. Thanks! That's one I didn't have. It looks like a longer one so I'll save it back and try to go through the shorter ones first. I really want to clear out some of the older shorter books to save space. I know there are books I want to read and not keep and it's starting to bug me that they are all there.
  8. I like that site for free books too. You have to wade through a lot of garbage but it's still worth it. But that is the site from where I clicked on the 'not so free' book. I still go there about every day but I try to remember to "look before I click." My own fault. I wish I could remember the name of the book but it was a long title, if I remember correctly. When I went back to the site I couldn't find the book again. It never showed up on my Kindle so they (whomever they are) must have caught the mistake right away.
  9. Be aware if you handle dog food to be sure to wash your hands. Especially important to teach the kids if they feed the dogs. COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) -- Federal health officials say at least 14 people in nine states have been infected with salmonella by handling tainted dog food. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention said no deaths have been reported, but at least five people have been hospitalized. The pet food was made at Diamond Pet Foods' plant in Gaston, S.C. The company said no pets were sickened but declined to comment further. Health officials say people can get salmonella by handling infected dog food, then not washing their hands before eating or handling their own food. The South Carolina plant was shut down April 7 and food made there has been recalled. Diamond Pet Foods paid a $3.1 million settlement after a toxic mold in its pet food killed dozens of dogs in 2005. http://www1.whdh.com/news/articles/national/12007386956144/salmonella-in-dog-food-sickens-14-people-across-us/
  10. Thanks. I downloaded it to take a look. Price was certainly right!
  11. I'm sorry for your loss! It's true about the family drifting apart when the matriarch passes on. It happened in my family too. One of our cousins tried to carry on but it wasn't the same.
  12. Very pretty dishes. Hope you like your Corelle as much I do mine. They take a better beating than the stoneware type.
  13. We did talk about them quite awhile ago. I think it was under the word "tattler' Most of us decided they weren't worth the money. For one, they are a lot more expensive than the normal lids. Also some people read where others were having problems with them staying sealed. And, if you want to give food away you may never see the lid again. One major concern was what would happen if they stopped making the rubber 'o ring' that you have to use everytime?! They are a major investment and although they say you can use them over and over again (which is true) you still have to buy the sealing rings and use them everytime you use the lids. Not trying to talk you out of them; just telling what I learned about them. I'm staying with the regular ball type bands and lids. They will probably always be available and easier to use. Oops sorry, I just read where Cat said they were under 'tattler'
  14. I don't have the leather making inserts. I started using wax paper when I was dehydrating peas and they kept falling through the slits of the trays. Corn will fall through mine too. It also keeps veggies/fruit from sticking to the trays. Mine are the cheaper plastic trays and not the Excaliber (sp) one. I use the paper over and over for numerous loads of produce. If I'm doing carrots, I'll use the same paper for 4-5 loads. When I dehydrate carrots without the wax paper, sometimes some of the carrot slices will wrap themselves around a piece of the slit on the tray and dry on it. It can be really difficult getting it untangled. On the paper, they slide right off.
  15. Thanks Trudy. As soon as it happened I wrote an email to Amazon but before I sent it I thought that it was really my own fault so I deleted it. The book didn't appear on my Kindle after all. I'll bet they realized the mistake the website made. That's the only thing I can think of. I can't remember the name of the book. It was a long title about prairie living. I'll keep your info for future reference though! I wish that 'buy with 1 click' button wasn't so close to the 'gift' and 'wish list' buttons.
  16. GREAT JOB! I'm so glad things are falling into place. It took a lot of steps to get here but you're doing it. I admire how you've hung in there and didn't give up on your parents. I know your journey with them has been a difficult one. As an aside,I've always heard that prostate cancer is one of the slowest growing cancers and often no treatment is necessary, depending on the the age of the patient and how long they have had it of course. Have a great trip!!!
  17. It is cloudy here today. We are supposed to get storms later this afternoon. If it does, it will be a good excuse to take a long nap. Actually I'm very sleepy so I don't need much of an excuse. I was an idiot last night or rather this morning. I was watching the eagle webcam and it started storming really bad there. The wind was blowing so hard I was afraid one would blow out of the nest. Then the lightning started flashing and thunder booming. Then the rain started falling in buckets. It lasted all night. Mom did her best trying to cover them with her wings but they are getting so big now. Then one of them was not looking quite right when the sun came up this morning. Yes, I took care of them all night. Then I switched over to the hawk webcam to check on them. There are three little fuzzy ones and they keep climbing to the top of their nest. Their mom looks like she is trying to make it a little deeper but when they start to flap they might go over. I will be so glad when they all fly off! :duck 1: http://metobs.ssec.wisc.edu/aoss/cameras/hawkcam-flash.html
  18. Be careful when on websites that offer free ebooks for Kindle from Amazon. I was on one and a free book popped up I thought I'd like. I'm so used to just clicking on the 'buy' button that I didn't pay attention and it wasn't really free. I don't blame Amazon because I suppose they don't have control over what another site says. I do blame myself. I shouldn't have been so quick on the button. It was only $3.69 but still... I wouldn't have bought it. Heads up. Just because a website says it's free from Amazon (or anywhere else) doesn't mean it is. Make sure it's really free before you click the buy button.
  19. I dehydrate straight from the freezer to the dehydrator too. I line my plastic trays with wax paper anyway so there is no mess. But then again corn, peas and carrots etc. doesn't have that much water to drip. I haven't ventured into the fruits yet.
  20. OK, I believe you, but...................... WHO wrote the above than? I mean other than here! :frying pan: Sometime after reading some of the old stuff I wrote I wonder if that was really me saying that.
