  1. Cheering for Windmorn's DD too! :cheer: :cheer: Hang in there sister, you're getting it!
  2. I've never has a mouse in the house. Of course having said that I'll probably have an infestation now. When we first moved here we (meaning D-ex) set out mouse traps in the garage just in case there were some here. He tied the traps, to the wooden shelves in the garage, by a piece of string. That way if a mouse got in the trap it wouldn't drag it away. Can't say if it worked or not. The one time we wanted to catch one, none showed up. If I found a snake in the house...I don't know what I'd do. Probably call the fire department. Now centipedes are another story. I got em and I hate em. Hate, Hate Hate em! The only good thing about them is they are more afraid of me than I am of them. And if you spray them with raid, it kills them instantly and all their legs fall off. Ugh.
  3. Thanks Cat. I checked them and figured they had another hour. I went upstairs, where I can't hear the dehydrator hummmm, and forgot all about them. Three hours later it was too late. I need 1/2 gallon more then I never want to see another carrot for a long long time.
  4. Nothing. But I did burn up a dehydrator full of you know what's. Carrots
  5. Nuke it in the microwave for a few seconds and pour it over ice cream? Okay, that wasn't well thought out but I was thinking about ice cream at the moment. And hot apple-maple poured over vanilla ice cream...Oh yeah.
  6. I'm so sorry your sister is going through this. Continued prayers for her and your entire family.
  7. Snip and underline mine. Oh Arby, it took me a few minutes to figure out why the ski shops were making water proof material for large animals...big bucks. Okay I get it now...big dollars.
  8. I'm still doing carrots. My goal is 1 1/2 gallons. They are making me feel -------->
  9. I have most of the stuff up there too. I also have some of those Breath Right strips. I put one on when I'm trying to sleep. It helps a little. I live alone so I usually have to fend for myself. I want something I can open quick, heat up and eat. Along with meds I just make sure I have some; Canned chicken & rice soup Canned homestyle chicken noodle soup Crackers Gator Ade Dr. Pepper Toast Popsicles
  10. After doing some research I ended up getting the NESCO 6-liter 3-in-1 Electric Pressure Cooker. The 3-in-1 means it also acts as a steamer and a slow cooker. I love the automatic feature, just dial in the time and walk away. It builds up the pressure automatically, starts the timer, cools down and then switches to 'warm' until you turn it off. It has a true 10 psi and 15 psi, which many PC's do not really have. The beets (large ones) took 20 minutes. Smaller ones would be quicker. I went to an Outlet mall and found one!!! I think it is the same one, 6 qt. I got it for $60.00! I did had to pay tax but no shipping. I also got a pretty cool egg beater since I didn't have one. It's manual and the beaters come off for washing. It is shapped like an electric stick blender. Can't think of the name of it right now. It's supposed to be more hand friendly. It's $19.00 at Bed Bath and Beyond. I got one, with a coupon for $14.00. It was a good day today. Edited: Because I forgot to thank C.N. for putting me on to the cooker. Thanks!

    DID YOU KNOW

Great tip! That paper is soooo thin. Never thought about putting a stabilizer on the back of them. I usually iron them anyway.
  12. That is so neat! When my bio father found me, I made him answer all kinds of questions about my mother's side of the family. I just wanted to make sure it was really him and not some scammer. Scam what??? I don't know. This could open a lot of new and exciting doors for you. Also, family info to pass on to your DS.
  13. I love pickled beets too. I put onion slices in mine. I'm going to have to check out an electric pressure cooker. It's got to be easier than cooking meat in my big pressure canner on the gas stove.
  14. I knit a little and crochet a little. Nothing fancy but I'm itching to get some yarn in my hands again. I'll probably do a scarf or if I can find my pattern, some slippers. I can sew a straight line so I really like to make quilts. I machine sew but hand quilt. Making clothing eludes me. I have a spinning wheel that I bought new in Amish country, but have never had the time to try to figure it out. I know it works but so far it makes a nice decoration with a basket of cotton sitting in front of it. I like to do all sorts of crafts but usually only have time in the winter.
  15. Does that make him a Dr. Prepper. (bet you haven't heard that one enough times, huh.) Thanks for the link...off to do some reading now.
  16. Welcome, Welcome, Welcome Windmorn!
  17. Holy cow, I sure missed this one. Glad it popped back up because that sounds so good. Now I just have to watch for nanners on sale.
  18. Not cringing a all LindaLou! It sounds better than what I had. It was a bowl of cereal and a bag of popcorn.
  19. "I'm back in the saddle again." Doing my best Gene Autry impersonation and not the Aerosmith version. I got 10 packages of crinkle cut carrots for 10.00 today. So my dehydrator is back to humming away. It was just too hot to fire it up this summer.
  20. (((Ambergris))) Good thing eggs don't need to thaw.
  21. Sending prayers up for your sister and for the family.
  22. Ohhh, sounds good. Hope you don't mind but I copied it down.
  23. I've actually seen the Amish out in their front yard using these in northern Indiana. There were two or three females gathered around the machine at each house. As much laundry as they have I assumed they were taking turns. Good job for the older kids. One machines I saw had a lid on it. Probably to help control the splashing? Be sure to post a picture when your DH gets it done! Living alone, I'd need a ringer and a plug.
  24. Thanks C4C. Miss Vicky's site was the only one I found in Google. So glad Ghost gets to use the canner!!!
