Watcha doing today?

Recommended Posts

This morning, after walking, I will put the ham in the oven.
Go pick up trash from parking lot of Church.
Do ebay photos for DH.
Slice ham and put most of it away.
Set up an online banking account.
Maybe walk dogs, maybe not.

I totally agree with Littlesister and Mother.  Stress being released and Big changes both do that to me.  Hang in there!

Christmas here today. Gotta get busy finishing up a few things.
Dad is home. The system is broken. What a fiasco. Sisters/brother and I and nieces/nephews are taking turns to have someone there around the clock with mom and DS1 that are always there. I spent the night Thursday and yesterday... got home about 8 last night after DD relieved me. Sis#4 is staying today. Brother and wife are bringing a hospital bed today and getting it set up (something the VA has failed to supply even after the hospital said it was required—yet discharged him before it was in place). 😡 He’s been home since Wednesday night at 6:30 and they finally sent a nurse out at 6:30 last night (hospital said he should have 24 hr care) after Mom gave them what for and hung up on them. The care in the hospital was just as horrific. They are short staffed—nurses caring for 15-20 patients. But still horrific. Sis#1 was actually escorted off premises by security at one point because it was after 8 (visiting hours) and she was giving them hell cuz he was ill positioned  in a wet bed. I’m going back to mom’s tomorrow until further notice. I have nothing scheduled till who knows when. Sis#6 is off work til mid January, so she will be there a lot too.

Necie, I can understand the bad hospital service both by way of VA and just a regular hospital, but I won't go there. It would tic me off all over again.

Ham is in oven and almost ready to come out.  Drinking a cup of coffee as I haven't had my morning Jo yet. I needed the caffeine. Turkey is next to go in oven. This would be a great time to have 2 ovens. But it is what it is.  Warmer day today so far, so no wood stove going today. Need to clean it out anyway. That will be GS's job today. And to bring in more firewood. He's done well on that job so far. He loves getting the fires started. Something he and his dad did do when they were camping.

I have a zellon things I want to do and just making those plans for after the 1st. I am going to be a busy beaver for a couple of months. Then once GS is in boot camp. I am calling in the painters and getting most of the house painted. Hall, foyer, living and dining room. The front bedroom and pantry will come later as I will have to use down the food in pantry and then go through things in front bedroom. Office things, sewing, and craft stuff. Some will need to be boxed up till after the painting is done. Those will be the hardest rooms to get to for the painters. Then I will be buying new furniture. Need to sell the dining room table and hutch also. Will get GD to help me get that on the sites she uses to sell things.

I am ready to get all that started now but need to have patients. It will all get done in due time.

Thank you all for the feedback ladies!  :yar:  <== more crying.  LOL

I think you are all totally correct. I never once had a breakdown or total meltdown over the entire year. I've been angry and livid and just plain p*ssed off but I never broke down and had a good old fashion cry session or pity party. Now my stiff upper lip is starting to sag a little.  :)  I think it is all hitting me now. I didn't really consider that. Emotions and hormones and just plain stress is hitting all at once. :grouphug:

This is why I love this place so much!  :sSig_thankyou:

Jeepers, this too will pass as soon as you are back in your house. Things should start looking up for you.

Necie, I hope you can get some kind of good home health care for your dad. It is getting harder and harder to get the proper help in the medical field any longer. But at least you have family that are able to help out.

GS was off work for today, Christmas Eve and Christmas day. They called him at 8 am wanting him to come in to work. So, he is on his way now. He told me to save the wood stove for him and he will clean it out when he gets home. But I would rather he clean his bathroom. So will see how doing both is going to fly.

Turkey is still in oven. Not quite done yet. So just taking a break. Lifting a 10lb. ham and then a 15lb. turkey didn't help my shoulder any. But it is what it is.

And just in case I am not on here for the next 2 days. I want to say:

                         MERRY CHRISTMAS

                                    And A

VERY HAPPY AND BLESSED NEW YEAR

I thought I posted this. I guess not. I think I keep forgetting to hit the submit button.

Today I'm just waiting for a couple of Amazon orders to be delivered so I can make one trip to the house. Nothing coming for Christmas so no big deal. I just don't want them sitting on the front porch too long. I don't mind spending Christmas by myself. I often do. I never did enjoy Christmas. What if people are disappointed or don't like a gift or what if they already have it. What if I don't like mine and have to live with it. Too much chance for disappointments. I like the people and the food but not the gift giving. Too much stress. Except for G-son. DIL makes a list from Amazon to go by and that helps a lot. It was also nice taking gifts to Indy a week+ early so I wasn't tempted to go do some last minute shopping. I always end up doing that. :misc-smiley-231:.  But not this year.

So, I always have plenty to eat and a craft or two to keep me busy for one day. And there is always sleep. Son's and D-ex will call on Christmas Day so that's nice. I have started packing up a few things to move and I have to iron some old curtains that I hope will still be okay to hang up. There is an iron and ironing board here but not at the house. Some were stained and some weren't. I know I'll have to replace a few but they will be cheap ones.  Actually the old ones I have are cheap Pricilla type curtains that were here when I moved in over 30 years ago.  :sEm_blush:

I did go out shopping this morning though. A lot of people but all the registers were open and the drivers seemed very polite. One thing I will say about Ohio drivers over here is they are the most polite drivers I've ever seen. They always let you cut-in in traffic and don't sit all day at a 4 way stop. I'm not counting the old woman who hit me in the parking lot. LOL. I was stuck behind a guy picking up carts in the parking lot. As he was taking them back up to the store, he was pointing out all of the empty spaces along the way for me. That was a bonus for me for waiting patiently for him to move it along. At least that's what I told myself.

I picked up some cleaning supplies that I know I'm going to need for the house. And I found the illusive Brasso cleaner I have been looking for at Home Depot. Now I can get the fireplace insert cleaned. Yeah me. I also bought a big box of candy for the hotel staff since they gave me a gift yesterday. I realized that I have no Christmas DVD's so I rectified that today too. I envision G-son and I watching them and drinking hot/warm chocolate at my house next Christmas time. I have never seen Elf nor Home Alone. :o

If you have internet, and a screen BIG enough to see, you can spend some time doing Jigsaw Puzzles while listening to Christmas music.

This link goes to MY created puzzles: https://www.jigsawplanet.com/redhatpat

If it doesn't work for you, you can just open up the main page and gander at ALL of the puzzles:   https://www.jigsawplanet.com/

This is a link to my Christmas playlist. Lots of old songs, some new, mostly "secular" with a bit of sacred mixed in.

I use Just Jigsaws and it is mostly free.

The site I listed above is free - not mostly. Plus, if you join (also free) you can create puzzles out of pics that you upload, and you can change the number and size of pieces of any other puzzle you want to play - even those created by other players.

ETA: I see that the Amazon app has most of the same features.

BTW- @euphrasyne I mentioned having a "big" screen because Jeeps and I are the same age so we need the larger images to "see" what we're seeing!  :pc_coffee: :whistling:

I'm -10 in my left eye and -12 in my right eye.  I have extreme vision issues.  I like the app  I used because of the way the zoom works on it.   I also wouldn't use it without an S pen that helps me do the finer details.  I have used the computer app you posted, but I didn't like the user controls and zoom.    I'm lucky all my kids have great vision and didn't take after me in that way.  Thank goodness for contacts. Though I'm getting that middle age farsightedness and now I cannot see things that are either too far or too close.  sighs.  I cannot win.

I just love you guys!  :kissy:

My laptop is 17 inches so no problem. I'm very near sighted so I see everything well close up.

I do free jigsaws on my kindle tablet but I didn't have any on the computer.

I got a little misty eyed when I saw the little one in the wheel chair. Then I saw that cop. :knary:  Dried my eyes right up!  Hubba-Hubba. Dang. He's fine. Bookmarked. :D

I have three different strengths of glasses! (mostly from the 5 quarter store ;) )

  • I have a mid-range (1.5+) for when on the computer. :pc_coffee:
  • I have powerful ones (2.5+) for reading and for using my cell phone. I keep a pair of the reading glasses in every room that I may wander into and find myself needing to be able to see some fine print, etc. :reading:
  • Finally, I have a pair of Rx glasses for driving that I don't need anymore - unless I'm driving at night, so that's where they "live."

"The Little Drummer Boy" by Gentri is my favorite, followed closely by almost any performance of "Mary Did You Know." I hope you enjoy the list. If you watch the vids uninterrupted it will take about 4 hours - maybe a little bit longer - to play through.  (You can always scroll and click on any one of them at anytime if you see one you just HAVE to hear right now. :P )

Oh my, Beautiful Star Of Bethlehem With the Oak Ridge Boys and Home Free was awesome. Also with Jeffrey East whom I am going to look up! The first concert I ever saw was the Oak Ridge Boys. I'm really enjoying your list.

Maybe when I get my new guitar tunned up I can add a little sumpin sumpin to your list.  Or maybe not!  :008Laughing:

My singing is a cross between a donkey braying and a wolf howling. No matter. I sing it loud and I sing it proud.

I'm counting on my fine guitar playing to carry me though.   :band:  <== Practicing for Midnightmom's Christmas list.

I'll have Church for about 1 hour this morning- just some singing Christmas carols.
Walk dogs if it stops raining.
Maybe do the ebay photos I forgot, yesterday.
That's it! Dinner, such as it is, will be eaten later today. Just ham sandwiches, store bought potato salad and coleslaw, frozen (and thawed) key lime pie. So glad that I baked the ham, yesterday. And packaged and put away!

You all have a nice and relaxing day!

Looking forward to your reports as you move from tender fingertips, to hamburger ones, and finally the finished product - calluses! :band2:

I know that look. Son is babysitting my guitar until I get moved over. He has yet to develop the much anticipated calluses. LOL.  Have you ever noticed Keith Richards hands?  He has calluses clean up to his knuckles.  :0327:

Hello all just enjoying a very restful Christmas eve morning drinking my coffee with a gingerbread cookie. Christmas gifts are all wrapped and under the tree, cookies baked, and I put down a deposit on a puppy sister for my Ruby today. She will arrive after Christmas   My Christmas gift to myself :)

I like my contacts and a pair of reading glasses.  If I have to wear my regular glasses, they are thicker than coke bottles even now on the 'thinner more expensive' lenses.  They give me a headache to wear they are so heavy.    My mom wears 2 or 3 pair of glasses at a time. It is hilarious to look at.  It is always good to have a few extra pair of RX and reading for emergencies.   I tend to break mine.

Awwww. Ruby is gonna be a big sister! We will need pictures and a name of course!

Euphrasyne, I don't need readers but I still bought some at the Dollar Tree incase son and DIL are at my house and need a pair. Just some cheap dollar (at the time) ones. I rarely wear my glasses in the house because my vision is so good up close. I often have to go back in the house to get my glasses because I forget to put them on outside. Sometimes I have to touch my face or top of my head to see if I have them on me. They have even gone in the shower with me perched on the top of my head. However, I'm blind as a bat when I want to see anything in the distance. I only have one pair of spare. I really should get a couple more. Maybe keep a pair in the car. They are pretty inexpensive online with a prescription now.

Wow! that was some catching up to do.

MidnightMom, no I forgot about the 2-hour turkey recipe. I just cooked it the old fashion way. Turned out great though.

We had our Christmas today. Everyone was here except GD from Washington and SGD from CA. But we were able to do face time. Maybe one day soon we can get together. But for the one in Washington, we will hold out till they get warmer weather. She got stuck and couldn't get here for her grandfather's funeral. All flights cancelled and police had blocked off her street due to the steep hills. Everyone had a great time. Even the baby was good. She took a long nap on my shoulder today. Lots of food. Ham, turkey, shrimp, snow crab legs (yes, grandson is a bit spoiled when it comes to his seafood at Christmas.) Lots of veggies, fruit, cookies, pies, and candy. So, they had a feast.  And somehow my SIL got his parents to come over which no one can get them out of the house. And of course, if my GD didn't tell me I wouldn't have known they were coming. Surprise. My house but I am the last to know. Just glad I had plenty of food.

Jeepers get you a guitar pick. Easier on the fingers. Ask me how I know. Been many years.

I have 20/30 on the eyes since the cataract surgery a few years ago. But still need readers for fine print. I also keep cheap reading glasses all around the house.
