  1. What an amazing heritage! Both sides of my family came here pre-WW2. Some through NY and the others through Canada. How the "German" met and married the "French" is just as amazing and bewildering as how the "Italian" met and married the "Irish."
  2. Lots of May birthdays! Happy Bday MomM
  3. Amazing research! Have you discovered how your family made it to the America's???
  4. You certainly know how to keep busy. Do you also know how to relax? Have a wonderful day with your family.
  5. It is simply amazing how the same camera can take two very different pictures. I selected the ones that don't show all of my wrinkles - and there are a LOT of them!
  6. I had one of those pre Y2K. I don't remember what happened to it, but I vaguely remember not being impressed by its effectiveness. I'm glad yours has worked for you all of these years. I have one of the newer battery operated jar sealers now as I was having trouble using the attachment that came with my FoodSaver.
  7. Can you believe 72? Birthday selfies.
  8. A while back you posted that he had a "plan" for reaching an ultimate goal. I think he "thinks" he has a plan that he told you about, but methinks he doesn't have any plan other than playing on your love and sympathies. I wish you the best in getting him motivated, but you have to cut bait sometime. Sooner rather than later. Some people have joined a gym so they have someplace to take a shower. Maybe you should suggest that to him as an alternative. Or, he can rent a space in a campsite so he can park his car to sleep in it, or buy a small tent to pitch on his lot, and use the camp's facilities for showers, etc. Some of them even have laundry facilities on site.
  9. I'll bet he could find study material online; possibly even as interactive sites or YT channels.
  10. I2 heads of cabbage made 4 gallons of kraut. That amount of kraut made 24 pints with some left over for immediate use (refrigerated) and some to give to a friend. I had one jar that was plain ol' kraut, and a smaller one that I added some pepperoncini too for a bit of spice/heat. Who knew that the spicy kraut would taste so good with a bit of pepperoni served with it??? It was yummmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm.......... sorry, no pics, but trust me, it was GOOD! 24 pints of waterbath canned homemade fermented sauerkraut. I want to try it, but I don't want to spoil the symmetry of the boxes they are stored in.......................... yet.
  11. There is a relatively new YT channel called "Becoming a Farm Girl" that does exactly what you are suggesting ; except for the livestock, that is.
  12. I don't like mushrooms (texture), but I do like the flavor. I discovered mushroom powder! Now I can make my own "cream of" when I need it by using the powder and HWC, etc.
  13. I went to her "Amazon Store" and found the link to the stove she uses: https://a.co/d/302J2KB This is the link from her website in case you want to "throw some money" her way: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B09HMZH8Z6?ie=UTF8&th=1&linkCode=sl1&tag=roseredhome05-20&linkId=ba7da5294339eb0f51d66259698c0e70&language=en_US&ref_=as_li_ss_tl
  14. I have one. The butane is hard to find, but we have a "Chef's Store" here and they carry it in 3 packs. https://www.chefstore.com/
