Sorry I've been gone the last couple weeks! I was suffering from "allergies" which turned into a "cold", then "bronchitis." Nope, it was PNEUMONIA!!! I went to urgent care, expecting a Rx for an inhaler & nighttime cough meds, & they turned me away saying they couldn't help me after taking my oxygen saturation reading 0_o. They offered an ambulance to the ER, & made my visit a non-pay visit (thank goodness). Off to the er we went. They gave me an injectable steroid via IV, which I had a reaction to & promptly crashed. I was admitted for severe pneumonia. Almost 72 hours later & I was released after breathing treatments, oxygen & the typical poking & prodding at ALL hours. Worst.3.days.in.a.long.time. But I iz stubborn Thankfully my Mum came down to help with apples. Yeah. Remember those 3 bushels of apples I ordered & picked up. Hmph. We got about 7 quarts worth of apple butter apples dealt with & the apple butter is in the freezer. So, she was able to stay with the boys & hold down the fort. She makes a mean meatloaf. The boys love meatloaf So I'm back. Mostly healed but not quite 100%. Missed you all! Oh, & I still have loads of apples to deal with. Who wants to come help??

I've done this. Guests think it's weird, because it doesn't sud. Suds don't mean clean, though. We've been conditioned to believe that. Mine was thin, but I added a smidge of salt, & it thickened right up. With 3 boys, cheap is guuuuud. I need to make a batch soon. I just bottled up the last of the Mrs Meyer's soaps my Mum got for us. 2 foam dispensers & one with half water, half soap & a little salt (again, for thickening).

I appreciate your thoughts I've tried several different soaps, baking soda, washing soda, all sorts of mixes & ingredients. I've done baking soda, essential oils, etc. Trust me. It just "don't work", LOL!

I found a Pampered Chef peeler/corer at thrift for $7.99 about 2 weeks ago. Just in time, too. I was about to order one for upwards of $20 from Amazon. Last year I was blessed to borrow one, but I'd hate to ask again this year. It's taken a lot of Bar Keeper's friend to get mine clean though (Not sure the previous owners know what cleaning is ). Oh well. I saved a small handful of cash

That's funny! We've tried it a few times in the past, but our water has always been too hard. Our clothes get sour smelling & dingy It sucks, because I LOVE doing the HM detergent.

I have the last of the pears heating to mush (haha), so I can run them through the mill. Pear butter coming up Next, I have to deal with the last of the plums & the few left peaches. I'm thinking maybe a plum peach butter. I also picked up 10# frozen blackberries last week. Thankfully FROZEN! I can take my time with them, LOL!

I'm almost done with the 80# of fruit I picked up last Friday. And then... I just ordered 120# of apples. Somebody knock some sense into me...

I usually go for the smaller sizes sometimes, too. I've never canned mushrooms, so I wasn't really sure.
