  1. The only aluminum cookware I have are my Guardian Service roaster and a stock pot. Don't see myself getting rid of them any time soon.
  2. Can you believe that I still have a dozen (or more) of the smaller sized cans of Libby's pumpkin that I bought several YEARS ago!?!?!?!?!? They are just the right size for living alone and cooking for one - unless I want to make a pie!
  3. Here are a few vids to help you along specifically w/ the barking issue: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OFZ003dY8cU https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-fcVPfkbYIM https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JVFfLJ2qMXo https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bpzvqN9JNUA&list=PLG2WNEApvUh6JcMdxO8Du4LnYDnlyrULb&index=13&t=0s Zak George is a pretty good channel to follow. Most of his vids are short and to the point. You can also search out Kikopup and Dr. Sophia Yen on YouTube for more extensive training vids.
  4. I'm pretty sure they removed the first pic for 2 reasons: 1. They weren't "backyard" chickens 2. To be "politically correct" and not offend the sensibilities of animal activists, etc. (Do they even have any common sense???)
  5. If you are on YouTube you can find and follow either/or Dr. Berry or Dr. Bosworth Ken Berry, MD https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCIma2WOQs1Mz2AuOt6wRSUw Here is a list of his vids on keto and the kidneys: https://www.youtube.com/user/KenDBerry/search?query=kidneys Dr. Boz [Annette Bosworth, MD] https://www.youtube.com/user/annettebosworthmd Here is a link to a PDF of facts about the keto diet: https://bozmd.com/download-fat-can-save-your-life-50-keto-facts/ The first 3 vids on this list are related to the kidneys: https://www.youtube.com/user/annettebosworthmd/search?query=kidneys
  6. Jeepers, Ambergris is correct about reducing all of the starches you are consuming, not just the fruit. Diabetes is the inability for the body to self-regulate glucose. If you are on FB this is a very good group to follow: Type 2 Diabetes Rebels - https://www.facebook.com/groups/1752321458323821/ There are also some very good pages to follow on YouTube that discuss diet (low carb and keto) for controlling blood sugars. Let me know if you need any help finding them. <3
  7. I shared this post on some FB groups and one of the comments was about how the chickens' beaks were shaved down. I thought the pic looked a little odd, but couldn't quite figure out what it was. BUT, most of the people this warning is for won't have chickens with beaks like the ones in the picture. ETA: Just went back to the article to capture the pic they used, and lo and behold, there is a new pic with chickens that haven't had their beaks blunted.
  8. There's a technique called "free shaping." When you catch them doing the thing you WANT them to do, you REWARD it. Eventually you can add a word command to the behavior and then reward THAT when he complies. Eventually you will have a dog that will be quiet on command. Shaping is based on "clicker training." You have to "load" the clicker so that they understand that the sound it makes = good things happen. You can look up these terms on the interwebs and find vids on YouTube for how to do this. Just make sure that whoever you are "learning" from is a Positive Reinforcement trainer and not an Alpha dog/dominance theory old school fossil. This page gives an excellent synopsis of the method I am talking about. http://woofsandiego.com/rainy-day-dog-training-games-using-free-shaping-and-positive-reinforcement/
  9. The CDC is issuing another warning to backyard poultry owners as there have been more than 1,000 cases of Salmonella across 49 states - https://www.cnn.com/2019/09/14/health/cdc-salmonella-outbreak-kissing-chickens-trnd/
  10. At least he knows they are both in the south! Obama, OTOH, thought there were 52 states in the union!!!
  11. Grammatically, it should be "my sister and SHE"....... (her is an objective pronoun; she is subjective)
  12. Have you seen this remark??? Yes, it was deleted rather quickly, but not fast enough. This is why you have to be very careful about what you post on social media. Somebody, somewhere is going to have done a screen capture of your post and it will live on forever!!!
  13. Putting a new wooden handle on a hammer
  14. Be thankful you didn't have to try and catch a Python - apparently they poop on you as part of their "defense" mechanism. (Found that out while watching a "Returning the Favor" episode on YouTube Watch.
  15. My Girl Scout troop helped to distribute the sugar cubes in our school!
  16. As an "experienced" cook, you probably know that Cream of Tartar is extremely bitter and needs to be carefully worked into whatever mixture you are using it in, but "less experienced" cooks may not know that. So, a bit of advice......................SIFT the CoT into your dry ingredients then carefully and thoroughly mix it so it gets distributed throughout the mixture. There is nothing worse than biting into a wonderful piece of, say, cornbread, and then having to spit it out because the piece you are chewing contains a lump of Cream of Tartar!!!
  17. You don't need to keep tomatoes in the sun for them to ripen - just put them in a brown paper bag.
  18. I have a similar, yet not so similar, situation. My laptop will NOT keep the current time - it bounces all over the place and will even go backwards in time to the previous day! :O The issue is apparently the BIOS battery - you know, a $1.00 part. I called a few computer 'repair' places and asked them how much it would cost to have the battery replaced. All estimates were up around $100.00!!! So, I decided to do it myself. Took the back off of the comp and could not find the battery, so a google search I did. This led me to a YouTube "how to" video, much like happened to you. The reason it costs so much to replace that stinky little battery is because you have to DECONSTRUCT the whole d@mn thing to get to where the battery is located. THREE HOURS of labor just to take it apart, then another 3 to put it back together. You guessed it.....................the clock is still wacky because the battery still needs to be replaced. I just have to manually update it every once in a while (when I think about it). The biggest "issue" I have with it is that it will assign an incorrect time and date to any file or pic that I save to my hard drive unless I remember to make sure the clock is correct before doing so.

    Lose weight

In one of my FB groups we prefer to call this "eating off plan" and not "cheating."
  20. FYI - Some of those "baking mixes" are bulked with maltodextrin to make them be able to measure "cup for cup." It is better to look for a sugar substitute that has been "bulked" up with erythritol instead. Note: some sugar replacements use XYLITOL instead of erythritol. DO NOT USE these products if you HAVE A DOG! As a matter of fact, xylitol is commonly used in chewing gums, toothpaste, peanut butter, etc, so always make sure to READ THE LABELS on any SF/No Sugar Added products that you buy!!! https://www.aspca.org/news/xylitol-sweetener-not-so-sweet-pets?fbclid=IwAR3U6rRMcmItp3uHceK5b2N7PK6pdNtysT4KxwMvTenwudRboEtA5nEJHWo https://healthypets.mercola.com/sites/healthypets/archive/2011/03/24/dangers-of-xylitol-for-pet-dogs.aspx
  21. Michigan Gardener seems to be a very reliable source for information as well as seeds. Do you follow his YouTube channel? https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCVGVbOl6F5rGF4wSYS6Y5yQ
  22. Ooooooooooooooh, a PARTY! Too bad I missed it. I hope you had a wonderful day.
