  1. So sad, praying God gives you comfort.
  2. Our WM has 2 boxes of small mouth Ball lids, and about 3 cases of jars, when I went on Monday.
  3. Prayers…. Lots of prayers, for you all. For patience, understanding and love, regardless of the outcome. Sorry, I really don’t know what else to say. May God bless you with peace.
  4. There is so very much out there, don’t do this & that… drives me crazy. Before the internet got popular, we used to feed our pups almost anything. Everyone of them lived over 16-18 years. Ice in water, ice cubes, onion, garlic, etc., it never bothered them. Still doesn’t.
  5. I’ve got it! Incoming, Mt_Rider! Sploosh! I think Becca_Ann found the punch….. Just got back with a big bag of threads, yarns, needles, crochet hooks, knitting needles, materials, wax, dyes, and a large assortment of miscellaneous items from the craft store. Plus, a box of games… Monopoly, Scrabble, Yahtzee, Spill n Spell, oh, and a few Jigsaw puzzles…. I just grabbed…. Really don’t remember all I put in the box….
  6. Yup… in the middle of the flat desert. Rain goes around us, we get high temperatures, dust storms, wind, and watch the clouds, swirling around the mountains, while enduring the humidity. Normally, it’s late Aug. before the monsoons hit. As for the fires, praise God most are in the mountains. We live in a town, county seat, with a plethora of farmers fields, surrounding us. Cotton, alfalfa, and such. Mostly, protected, thank God! When we flooded, from an abundance of rain, 40+ years ago, the water actually stopped, a block away from our house. I-10 from NM to CA, was routed through our little town, because it was the only bridge that didn’t wash out. Had to sweep the back porch off, from pine needles and dirt, pick up garbage that blew in, the porch swing, almost flipped over, moving it several feet from its normal place. Swept the house, collecting dog hair-it’s an everyday thing now. Poor Storm, he hasn’t adapted from KY weather to AZ heat, yet…. I brush him, & he ‘poofs’ more shedding hair. He always wants to play in the sprinkles, but, he has his, he can maul all he wants… note to self… buy another hose.
  7. Hot and humid here. 105+. Dust storms ravaging, with light sprinkles, covering everything in mud. Arthritis is screaming at me but, you know, gotta do what we gotta do. Cut down an Hawthorn bush, because it was in the way of a new sprinkler I set up. DH seeded & fertilized the back lawn, hopefully, we can get the dogs from tearing it up, and have a nice back lawn. God willing. His son is coming to spend the night & day, his B-day, and combine it with mine. We are thinking of taking the dogs, his too, to the lake. Prepping to go to TX next week. Need to do some work in mom’s yard, need to make bean soup, and a few, 2 tbs. of meals for her. So little time….
  8. Annarchy comes into the hall, “OH!! My!!!” All those cakes! Someone had their work cut out for them! There’s so much stuff on the tables, games, food, sweets…..and ….. WOW! As I set up the balloons, arrange the chairs, I see the bucket with water balloons, quietly smile to myself… we are gonna have some “FUN!” I brought some games… scrabble, pass the pigs, monopoly, Yahtzee ……. Paper and pencils, charcoal, ink, crayons, pastels, water colors & acrylic…. sorry not much oil stuff, ruins my allergies, set up an area for oils in the back, but, brushes galore. Also, a dozen or so, of canned whipped cream… The air fryers are set up for hot wings & crispy crowns, or anything else that needs to be heated, plus, DH made his famous Ranch dressing, and 1/2 of all the wings, are salt & vinegar. The kitchen had all the utensils, plates & glasses, so, I set the tables. The puppies were crying, so I gave them some food, soaked in milk…. They snuggled into their heart…. Lol. Did a sound check on the stereo system, made sure it was outside on the patio, too, for everyone who wants/needs to watch their pets. Oh, my, this is going to be a wonderful time………
  9. Ok! I have rented the hall, reserved, tables, chairs, & balloons, ( helium ). Lol, that could be fun. A cake is ordered, blueberry, cheesecake, with cream cheese frosting. And another one, gluten-free. They didn’t tell me what it was. Maybe someone else can pick it up & let us know…. Potato salad, ‘Angled eggs’ and …. muchacha, beans, Mexican rice & thin flour tortillas. Dogs have a kiddie pool and sprinkler set up, biscuits for all pets. Honey, pumpkin, oatmeal, a touch of baking soda & salt. Towels to clean them up….. Mt_Rider, the misting system is pumping mist, and the ‘hot tub’ is filled with COLD water, JIC. Ready for a summer party?
  10. DH gets SVT’s from wine. I have to med him & do the arterial rub to get his heart to quit beating over 200 bpm. <—— not a typo.
  11. @ euphrasyne, I jumped in a pool, hit the 9’ bottom anyway…. God willing, you will recover quickly. Mt_Rider, goodness Lady, be careful! Jeepers, you always make me smile. Got a bout of heat exhaustion on the 4th, still trying to recover. Yikes, it sucks! Mowed the front lawn, edged & blew it off. Went to WM, for my list. No 1/2 gal. or quart jars, 2 cases of wide mouth Kerr lids. I had other things on my list, got it all. Baking Soda bags have been replaced, got a 12 lb. bag. Amen! Came home, put it all away, did dog duty, set up another sprinkler, hopefully it will water the areas the other sprinklers are missing, & got an extra one for MIL’s back yard. Rinsed the Mung beans, for bean sprouts, DH wants my stir fry, but gotta wait til they mature. Made dig biscuits, DH said I made them too thin. Meh, mixed the batches together, they will live. Time to package their “cookies”, figure out “what’s for dinner “ and crash.
  12. Happy Belated Birthday, Lady. Hope you had a blessed day!
  13. I understand completely. I see it on MIL’s TV when I am in TX. She’s been told by her doctors, “...do NOT get the vaccine…”, repeatedly. At 91 years of age, a cancer survivor and on several different meds, her docs say, the vaccine would kill her. God bless her doctors for being honest.
  14. Hope you have a wonderful trip, Jeepers. New AC is installed!!! It’s cool in the house! The appointment was scheduled for 8 am, they showed up just after 7, asking if they could get to work. Definitely! Crane was scheduled between 10:30-11, it showed up at 8:30! I am very impressed with the company’s promptness, quality and efficiency of their work. Completely installed & turned on by 10 am, including a new thermostat. Yeah, we bit the bullet and got a Bosch 3.5 ton heat pump, bigger, energy efficient unit, but, if it keeps the house cool, when it’s over 105°F, it will be worth every penny. All the other companies proposed replacing our unit with a similar sized unit & charging, just about, what we paid to get the one we chose. OH! WOW! It is after noon, over 100° out… and it just turned off!!! The old unit stayed on 99% of the day.
  15. Thanks Jeepers for the laugh, I needed that.
  16. Miki, it turned out very well, had a medium sized microwave dish left over, enough for two. Froze it, then, vacuum sealed it for a quick dinner. Tonight, was the last, heating the house up meal, red, hot, cheese enchiladas, pot of beans, pressure cooked, to conserve cooking time & Mexican fried rice. I put the beans in the pot, making sure there are no rocks, add a quarter of a bacon package, pressure cook an half hour, release the pressure, but, today, I scalded the palm of my hand…only happens about 1 out of 50 times. Stupid. Mex. rice, lightly brown white rice in veg oil, remove from the heat, add minced onion and a couple tablespoons of diced tomatoes, sear for a couple of minutes, add some tomato bullion, water & cook until soft. A bowl of beans with a bit of rice…. Mmmmmm. Tomorrow, I will remove all the beans, for refried beans & put 1-2 cups of juice in ziplock bags for MIL. I will still need to make a couple more pots of beans for her stash of “bean soup”. Went to WM this morning. Jars were 1/2 pints & pints, in 12 per box, & about 10 to 15 small mouth boxes of lids. No 1/2 gal. jars. I really only wanted/needed a couple extra 1/2 gallons. No biggie. The one thing that caught my interest/concern, was the big bags of baking soda, sold by the pool supplies, they all were as hard as a rock! Must have gotten wet. Didn’t buy any. I’m not taking a hammer to it, just to get the soda I need. Sigh. Found only 3 replacement sprinklers for MIL, maybe before I go I will find more, God willing. Time to get some sleep. AC people are due her at 8:00 am. Looking forward to a cooler house…… God willing.
  17. Jeepers, Ozark trails (at WM), has a cooler, cheaper than that expensive one , kept my frozen stuff from MT to AZ frozen. I did pack ice in it, JIC. Great to see you We2’s. Missed you & was concerned. Today, woke up an hour early, read the clock wrong… meh. Pulled weeds, did dog duty, before the trash trucks came. Used leftover air fried chicken to make chicken Parmesan, from leftover spaghetti from the other day. He likes it. Sliced the backs & one leg into pieces, including the breading, put a layer of sauce on the bottom of the dish, sprinkled some ground basil and Italian breadcrumbs layered the sliced chicken on top, sprinkled a bit more bread crumbs, more sauce, mozzarella and fresh grated Parmesan on top, nuked a couple of minutes & spread on leftover pasta. Served with toaster garlic toast. AC is scheduled to be installed on Wednesday, God willing all goes well.
  18. Kappydell, you were posting when I was. Back issues…BTDT. When I herniated 8 disc’s in my back… 3 into the spinal column, PT, tons of mri’s, cat scans…scoliosis, osteoporosis, unemployable… last time I went to the Dr…. 26 shots! Nope…. Instead, I do what I can, take breaks and watch my posture. It’s hard, it’s painful, it takes a lot of self awareness and exercise, constantly trying to stand tall and straight, and to keep going and doing things that need to be done. It isn’t easy, it’s painful, but, I HAVE to. Otherwise, I’ll be in a wheelchair within a year. To me, that’s unacceptable. DH isn’t able to do much. That leaves, me. Garden beets are trying to stay green with our, over 100° heat. 105 in the shade today. Birds are feasting on the greens. That’s okay. I’m trying to keep my spices alive. AZ heat is extreme. GOD willing, we will get our AC replaced next week. 90° inside with the window unit and ceiling fan running. Probably because I was in & out all day cleaning.
  19. Cleaned house. DH left at 7:30a to go to a meeting at the SO. Told me not to do it all. So….Whew, done, saved a bit of dusting for him. We lost our Dollar Tree, but still have a Dollar store. I don’t go there very often, WM still has cases of jars, mostly pints & half pints. Occasionally the 1/2 gallons I use for dried goods.
