  1. I did that and rubbed my eye. Never did that again....
  2. We will have about 13 folks at my home this year. Menu is turkey, ham, a vegetarian meat, mashed potatoes and gravy, broccoli apple salad, corn, yams with marshmallows, cranberry sauce, a couple of types of rolls, sweet potato pie..... I love cooking for the holidays! And the best part? Our new place has.....drumroll please....a dishwasher!!!! First time since I was a kid I’ve lived in a house with one......
  3. Not now! Not ever! I get stuff delivered all the time and have never had anything stolen. But if I was concerned I would use Amazon locker. They have several in my area.
  4. Hi Joyfilled! I remember you! And hi to Pixie and MomM!
  5. Dee! Yes...I just can’t do everything I used to do. Makes me a little sad...but that’s life, right? Hi Mother! So nice to hear from you! It is definitely a different sort of prepping as getting older has hit. I’m still working full time (hope to be able to retire in a few years). It takes a LOT of my energy. I only have a very small garden now (get most of my produce from the local farmers market)....but I have the knowledge. I don’t can as much...but I have the knowledge. I gave up my chickens a year ago. I either buy eggs from a friend who has chickens or trade something with the numerous folks here that have them. I miss the chickens....but not the work involved with their care. I do still keep a good sized pantry.
  6. Yay! Thank you for providing this forum for us.
  7. There has been so much tragedy lately it almost makes me feel numb. We are only personally affected by the smoke from the fires in California. Thankfully today was a little more clear. We have not been able to take children outside the past couple days....my house and classroom smell of smoke every time a door opens. Folks are walking around with masks on and you could see little fine particles of ash. We do have parents and staff live in an area where the schools have been closed down for the past several days because of evacuations and because the smoke is so thick. I do know also that there are people that have family or friends that have lost their homes and are staying with them here in our town. There’s a possibility again tonight . I just pray that that does not happen so that maybe the firefighters can get a little hold on stopping some of those fires.

  13. Yep again. We knew we were only going to be here a year so it's not so bad. This time though the lease works so there is overlap. We have two days to move stuff and won't need to put anything in storage. Moving is just no fun no matter how much stuff you've gotten rid of....
  14. Amazingly wonderful!
  15. Not complaining here. Typically at this time of year it's in the high 90s or low 100s. It's only been in the 80s for the past several days and we haven't had to use the air conditioner at all.
  16. Thanks Ann for all of your hard work!
